The gunsmithing service itself was good quality. I had a sight mounted. It feels well mounted with no wiggle. The main reason for the review here is the customer service. First off this is a home based business which itself is not a bad thing. I dropped off my handgun at the end of December with Sleepy's after being told it would take some time to order the part, but once in stock it would be simple to mount. Fast forward 3 months. I have been regularly checking in about every other week to inquire about the status of my firearm only to be told that they still had not found a source for the Bomar mount my firearm required. I had also asked on multiple occasions that the call me to inform me of the status since it had been multiple months. I did not receive any such calls. Finally, I called and re-confirmed the mount required with the gunsmith and told them I would find the part and have it shipped to them. It took me less than 15 minuets to find the correct part ($60) and order it. This was my first red flag. The part was readily available from a large supplier EGW. I had the feeling that despite my constant check ins, they did not look for the part or kept forgetting to look for it at all. I wish this was the end of my experience. I received a call a few days later telling me that the gun did not use a Bomar mount at all. instead it used a more commonly available mount cut and that they would order the part ( which I would also have to pay for). I finally received the call saying the sight was mounted and I could come pick it up. I informed them I would be by today, April 4th to pick it up between 12 and 12:30 and confirmed that the time would work. I arrived at 12:30 just as another customer was pulling up, only to see that they were closed. I called and was told that they would be back in 30 minuets. They arrived back to the shop, and told us that they would not be helping us at that time, we had to wait for yet another person to show up to conduct our business. Needless to say, this was very frustrating. I quickly paid the full price for service and left in order to make it home for a meeting since the transaction took about three times as long as expected. TLDR: Job done properly but not in a reasonable timeframe at all and was a huge hassle. read more

Ok, probably seems little early for a review but I plan on an update after work is done. Haven't even dropped anything off yet. I called this placed because a Gun Range suggested I try it. I looked it up, dang it, closed on Saturday/ Sunday. No worries, I wasn't and shouldn't be in a rush anyway. I called to leave a message and a question anyway because if I would have waited till Monday I may have forgotten then another week or two goes by. Knowing I wouldn't get a call back till Monday , at least. WROONNGG, got a call back like 5 hours later. Said he was returning calls instead of waiting till Monday ( on day off) THAT is a businessman. Answered my questions and I will drop off my Red Ryder soon and then update this review. 2/10/21 update, remains at a 5 star. Went to pick up Daisy BB gun,, that I was having some new sights put on that takes a special press. First, when I arrived he works out of his garage, saves on overhead I imagine. Second I had the sights, left everything with him, and he told me to come back in bout 1.5 hours! I said, TODAY? He answered yes. WTF, I was shocked, as I had had estimates from others on timeline only of several weeks. Anyway, went to pick up, and I am very pleased. Looked great, said he laser sighted it in, and I am good to go. Can't wait to try out a few BB's. Barring the sights flying off during a massive neighborhood BB war with friends the review will remain at 5 stars. Really nice guy, I will be back. I asked a good friend of mine from Elk Grove who is a competitive shooter along with her husband who's a pro shooter if she new a good Smith in the Sacramento area. She asked her father Wes from guns N stuff. He recommended Sleepy's for installing some XS sights and fitting a 357 Sig barrel into my XD40 Tactical Duty weapon. I called him and set up an appointment to drop of the weapon and items for install. He was super friendly and knowledgeable. I dropped everything off at 9 am after a graveyard shift and he was once again super friendly. Told me the price and the time frame which were both acceptable and very decent.
