I bought three guns from this shop in December at a gun show. They really helped me make a good selection and started the transactions. The first one went well, and then the second one was good. Each time it was a chore for them to find the guns and sort out all the paperwork. They were very disorganized. 5 months later and several visits with lost paperwork on their side, I finally have the third one. I am glad to say that they have improved their operation and cleaned up a lot of the issues. I know the owner was unwell, so I reserved any review until now. I will go back, they are friendly and helpful people. read more

Writing for my husband- Purchased a firearm at a gun show through all the proper channels, seemed decently priced and the owner was a decent guy. The PROBLEM is that the DOJ placed his status as "pending" after delaying it - my husband has been a conceal and carry owner of many firearms and we were never given a reason as to why he was not immediately approved. We called the DOJ and we're told it is at the company's discretion as the weather to release the firearm or not. This company WILL NOT release firearms if it is not a "pass" from the DOJ. This company submits DROs paperwork without signatures and that may be why so many people are having this same problem (see other recent reviews). We drove to the store to cancel our order and we're told that because the owner was not there that they would not be refunding us. We asked the guy at the counter if he could call him and get approval because we drove all this way and have been going through all this trouble for the better part of two months. The gentleman said "no, I'll call him after hours" and refused to work with us. We were told to expect a check in the mail without him ever even trying to confirm that with his superior. He was rude, and treated us poorly just for wanting to get our money back and try to purchase somewhere else since they refused to release the firearm. PRETTY SHADY TO REFUSE TO REFUND SOMEONE THEIR MONEY WHEN YOU ALSO AREN'T ALLOWING THEM TO HAVE THE PRODUCT THEY PAID FOR. read more

This is a great group of people who are consummate professionals. I ran into several pickles with DOJ clearance and they hung with me and supported me throughout the process. For those who may be unaware, the owner of the store passed away earlier this year. The firearms are being held at a location unknown to the owners who had firearms stored at the store. On July 20, 2020, I consigned my WWII, M1 Carbine for sale at Shooter's Pro Shop. On Friday, September 18, 2020 I went to Shooter's Pro Shop on a very busy Friday to check on their success on selling the rifle. The manager, Jeff informed me that the rifle had been sold and that he would get back to me regarding payment. Since it was a very busy day I took him at his word, and left. Since that time, I have moved out of the area, to the Central Coast of California, and have not heard a peep on him sending me my money. I have called several times - all to no avail. The calls are routed to an answering machine that informs me that the subscribers mail box is full. So I sent a registered letter to Jeff on October 19, 2020, asking for my money from the sale. The letter arrived but has been ignore. Prior to this event I had thought highly of Shooter's Pro Shop. I would NEVER recommend them for selling anyone else's weapons, after this. I had to give them a 1 star rating as the system does not allow for -0- stars. I have also registered a complaint with the Better Business Bureau on this matter. read more

I can't believe it's been 3 years since Shooters Pro Shop (formerly known as Discount Shooters Supply) moved from their Melody Lane location to the new spot on Sunrise Ave. I used to come here all the time as it was the closest gun store to my area but then they moved locations and then I moved and then the world change. Anyway, I was looking for a place to do a Private Party Transfer and the other places that I normally do them weren't taking them or weren't picking up their phone so I looked up gun stores in the area and Shooters Pro Shop came up. I did some research and found out that this was the old Discount Shooters Supply so I called them up and yes, they were taking PPTs. What a reunion it was! As soon as I walked in to their new location, I recognized the interior design and it really looks like the old shop on Melody Lane! They had a bunch of accessories and supply, lots of ammo too! I saw a few ARs, some shotguns, and guns on consignment. I didn't recognize any of the stuff but they were just as awesome as I remember. I was able to do my PPT and I could tell they knew what they were very experienced in doing them it was a breeze. I looked around and found some 00 buck, too! For those in the know, these shells are like gold these days! The reason I used to come here all the time was because their customer service was top notch. I'm glad I found them in their new location because although the staff may have changed, the customer service remains the same - very welcoming, very efficient, and they know how to treat their customers. When the staff is happy about doing their jobs it's because the owner treats the management staff right and in turn, management treats staff happy. When the staff is happy, they provide excellent customer service. This is very true here at Shooters Pro Shop. I'm bringing my business here from here on out! read more

What a dump! The guy is just sitting around, goofing off, while there are empty boxes piled everywhere. I had to climb through all this debris just to have a look around. He is out of stock on 9mm ammo and overpriced on .22. Thank goodness for the Coronavirus as an excuse for lazy slovenliness. Otherwise he would have to admit the real reason his shop is such a pit. I saw that this was now open and was excited to see a new gun shop open in the area. I normally frequent "Norcal Gun Vault" but wanted to see what this shop can offer. Given that they are new, they do not have many long guns or hand guns. The person working did say "Hi" but we walked around and nothing after that. We left as we never got any service. I support most gun shops, but if a customer comes in and you are a new shop, you should be all over it to gain a good reputation or people will just go to the other shops that are near by. Hopefully he changes his customer service. Side note- if you are a reloader as I am, they might have good deals here, but he was to busy doing something to ask if I needed any help. This place is terrible, they are never open when they are supposed to be. They tell customers to pick up their guns only to find out that when you show up they are closed. I'm in the parking lot and they were supposed to be open at 10 but surprise!! Once again they are not! UPS tried to deliver a package but then drove to the back and the driver must have been a magician because he got in to deliver the packages. I thought I'd drive around back to see if I could speak to anyone but nobody was there so I drove back up to the front and a guy that looked like Yosemite Sam walked right out the front then they locked the gates back up..... wtf?? Great shop with old-school customer service! I bought my first reloader through them and Bob helped me through the process. His help and passion for reloading led me to pick the right press with confidence that I wasn't wasting money. Shoot, I didn't have brass when the press was delivered and no one in the area did, so Bob brought some from his personal stash to the store so I could get going. Who does that?! These guys know what they are doing and are way more than willing to share their knowledge, it's super helpful. I love to shop local, and support small business. This place makes it easy to pass up on the larger stores with long lines and disconnected employees. read more

This shop charged me $45 for a private party to private party in shop transfer of 1 gun. Salesman George and the owner Jeff both lied to me and told me they are allowed to charge an additional $10 for storage of one private party transfer pistol, claiming it as a transfer storage fee. In which transfer storage and handling fees are only allowed when the gun is shipped to the FFL for private party transfer and both parties are not present. California DOJ specifically states in their frequently asked questions #13, "The total state fee is $25. The DROS fee is $19.00 which covers the costs of the background checks and transfer registry. There is also a $1.00 Firearms Safety Act Fee and a $5.00 Safety and Enforcement Fee. In the event of a private party transfer (PPT), the firearms dealer may charge an additional fee of up to $10 per firearm" (Pen. Code, §§ 23690, 28055, 28225, 28230, 28300). We stumbled upon this gun store after having left a big box store in the area totally unimpressed. We worked with Bob to facilitate our purchase and ended up buying a Savage in .308, but beforehand we had asked to view a few other firearms. Bob took the time to talk guns with us and made the experience pleasant. He even set us up with a scope for the rifle and made sure that we had all the necessary equipment. They are also providing the gunsmithing service. This shop was different from any other place we've gone to in the past few weeks. They had plenty of inventory on the wall, took the time to talk guns, and appreciate Veterans because they are Veterans. So aside from supporting a small business you're supporting a great group of guys. Their prices are also reasonable, because they aren't price gouging like other places. My boyfriend bought a gun here a little over a month ago, has yet to receive it, went in to find out what's going on, found out they put a 30 day hold on it, okay that's fine, but then they put another 30 day hold on it. We decided to ask for a refund, noticed the check we received back was about $300 short. After we went back in to ask the manager why that was, he explains that in the very very fine print, the papers mention a $2-300 restocking fee. So if you don't get what you purchase, they get all the interest from holding your money in the bank, then charge you $300 to tell you you can't have it. That's kinda rediculous. read more

I was and am quite impressed with the service of Shooters Pro Shop. Immediately after walking in I was asked if I needed help finding anything with a zero pressure tone, and was directed to the area of the store that might have held what I was searching for. Although I hadn't intended on making a firearm purchase that day, simply wanted a part for another build, I ended up picking up a long arm I'd been searching for for over two years. The selection here is excellent, they cover all facets of the hobby and defense circles, and there is zero pressure over brand, type and whatever it is you like best. This is not to say they won't recommend based on the details you provide. It's great having experienced folks behind the gun counter, and most importantly without the huge egos you experience at most FFL establishments. This was the biggest thing for me, they cut out the machismo and are there to help you make educated and safe decisions. Can't beat their pricing either. I purchased a firearm and a couple of extra magazines. My purchase was delayed by the Department of Justice. My status was pending. 2 months later, the status was still pending. The letter I received from the DOJ stated that after 30 days of pending, the business can allow the purchase. Shooters will not give you your firearm unless they get a "yes" from the DOJ. I was unaware of this. A friend of mine who had purchased a firearm from another store, was in the same boat. Pending. 2 months later, they gave him the firearm. I decided to get my money back. I already have firearms. I really didn't need another one. If you don't purchase the weapon, there is a $100+ restocking fee. Restocking fee for a firearm I never touched. I paid over $700 for everything and only got a little over $500 back. They also said the check would be in the mail the next day. 1 week later I called. They said it should be there soon. 3 days later the check arrived. Hard to believe it takes 10 days to get from Roseville to Antelope. I'm born and raised in Roseville. I like to keep my business in Roseville and Placer County. But, I will not recommend this store. read more

I was in the market for a entry level pistol and decided to go with Shooters Pro Shop. They gave me a deal on my purchase, better than any other "deals" I was quoted. The owner was doing something by the cash register while I was working with another gentlemen. The guy who was helping me gave me the price out the door and it was similar to everybody else until the owner gave me a better price. You really don't see that much anymore. I really do appreciate these folks and will continue to use them in the future. read more
