I honestly don't know why I haven't come to Slice House sooner! When I first walked in, I was a little confused about whether to grab one of the amazing-looking premade slices from the display case to get reheated, or order a fresh whole pie. I decided to take a lower-risk route--between the three of us, we tried 5 different style slices total, and not a single person had a complaint! This is exact style of pizza I love: true chef-driven recipes, incredible fresh ingredients, tons of flavor, and a perfectly crispy crust. I've been to almost every pizza spot across Gilbert and Queen Creek, and Slice House is deadly good. It beats everyone else by a long stretch! I will definitely be coming back a lot more. 10/10 recommendation! read more

I love New York style pizza so decided to try a slice to see how it fared against my favorite pizza place. The slice was big and it was okay not great tasting especially for what they charge. Man... this pizza has so much potential. The flavor is really good. The crust has a nice crunch without getting too hard, and overall it's a solid pizza. But here's my issue... They cook it on a perforated pizza pan. I don't know what it is, but something about that undercarriage just throws me off. It doesn't have that bottom you get from a pizza cooked right on the stone. It's hard to explain, but it changes the bite, and for me, it knocks points off. Maybe some people won't care. I do. If they ditched the perforated pan and cooked it straight on the deck, I honestly think this pizza could be one of the best in Arizona. As it sits... It's really good. It just leaves me wondering how much better it could be without that perforated pan. read more

I've driven by this new famous pizza restaurant numerous times and finally decided to stop in and try a slice. There were 9 different slices to choose from and I was surprised that none really appealed to me. I decided on their Detroit style slice of the day, Tony Jack, with white cheddar, brick cheese, mozzarella, bacon, green onion, peppadew peppers, and ranch. The staff heated the slice and drizzled ranch on it before I realized it. I'm not a fan of ranch with pizza but figured I'd give it a try. As expected, I didn't care for it so I ended up wiping off as much ranch as I could with a napkin. Detroit style pizzas can be very heavy but this crust was incredibly fluffy, airy and light. The crispy cheese edge was quite salty though and I was very disappointed with the lack of toppings for a slice that costs $7.50. It was also quite greasy. Stopped by on a Friday night and it was busy. We were greeted as we walked in and we looked over the menu. To share we ordered: Three Detroit style slices One NY pepperoni slice One Wiseguy slice One Caesar salad Two drinks The dining area was busy and every table was taken. We were able to grab seats at the one high top table as those people left. There was also plenty of tables outside. Our food came out as it was ready. The salad was delicious. It was crisp, fresh, and had the right amount of dressing. It was a great size and we split it into 3. The pizza slices were also really good. The pepperoni was my favorite and it was loaded with pepperoni. The Detroit slice was a little too thick for my liking but nonetheless it was still good. I've been watching too much of Portnoy and his reviews. So I was craving pizza. I'm not sure how long this place has been around, but I happened upon it by chance. They boast nine different types / flavors ready to pop into the over. I got used to this type of pizza spot in NY. I tried the "Tomato pie." Sliced mozzarella, tomato sauce, light garlic basil. I'm a lover of basil on my pie. It was very good. Nice undercarriage, good char, thin and crispy. I give it a 7.2. Next visit I'd order a whole pie of this because I feel this was in the case a while. I also tried a slice of Sicilian. Thick crust. I've had some that were too doughy. This was cooked properly. Waited till after the grand opening crowd died down to come experience this place! It's an order at the counter & the line moves fairy quickly, so not a lot of time to decide. LOL However, staff was friendly, attentive and gave us the run down of how to order. Our cashier broke down all the styles of pizza and gave some recommendations. I ordered the wiseguy slice and the Detroit square style sweet Gino. Both were really good & not greasy. To my surprise, I actually preferred the detroit version as with the bubbly crisp cheesy edges & the crunchy texture of that tasty dough- it was a stand out for sure! A few other peeps in are party got the same and a few different variations ( see pics) everyone was pleased with their pizzas. A plus- slices are huge, so worth the money. I had leftovers! Down side- they charge for ranch 2.0 oz .75 cents and their side of vodka sauce 2.0 oz $1.50 & it wasn't that great. Drinks are an additional fee and was really bummed they were out of their peach lemonade (which sat empty) as a choice for a beverage. Nice patio seating and some seating inside, but based on time both can be limited. It was difficult to get to and from the condiment station in store when we were there. Saw a lot of "To Go" customers. We will be back to explore more on their menu! They do offer weekly specials and have a great variety of options including salads and wings. read more

Slice House came up as a new spot nearby, so we had to check it out for Saturday lunch. There's a decent amount of parking in the lot. Inside the restaurant, you order at the counter for dine in or to-go. There are a few tables if you're dining there, but it seems most people take their orders to-go. They have a variety of pizza options already prepared if you want to purchase by the slice, otherwise their full menu is also available. Since it was our first time, we wanted to get a few different pizzas to try. We got the Pop's Special, Motörhead, Sweet Gino, and the Tomato Pie. Pop's was probably the most unexpected, with the sliced chicken cutlet, bacon, ranch, green onions, hot sauce, and hot honey. While I thought the chicken was overcooked, the pizza overall had a good flavor. My favorite of the four was the Sweet Gino with the sweet tomato sauce, two kinds of mozzarella, and basil. The crust was super light and crispy, I'd definitely get this again. The Tomato Pie was a pretty basic cheese pizza slice and the Motörhead was like a twist on meat lovers with salami, pepperoni, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, and cheese. The inside is very small and was limited seating, so we sat outside. If you don't find a seat inside, I recommend it to-go, especially since it's getting hot out. Feedback, mine could of been a little hotter, my marinara sauce was still a cold to the touch, I would of preferred to take it home and re-heat it myself. They had me at cup and crisp pepperoni Slice house brings an east coast flavor to the pizza game in Gilbert. When you walk in, you have an option to select from several types of pizza. I like this because there regularly sized pizzas are a bit pricey so you want to make sure first. My favorite of course is the pepperoni pizza. A little greasy but it's delicious. The slice sizes are larger, so it's almost like you are getting 2 slices. I was full after getting one, it's perfect for lunch. I tried another pizza that had some chicken and white sauce, and their traditional ( pep and sausage), but it was the pepperoni for me. The staff was super pleasant and helpful with making options. We tried Slice House this past weekend as a family and was surprised on how yummy the pizza was! The place is tucked in a shopping center with ample parking outside but inside does not have much seating so forewarn if you go during a busy time in the summer. They have a big outdoor seating area but too hot for summer. They have slices of the day which get rotated as part of their pizza by the slice. The service was great and the gal helping us at the counter was friendly and explained everything to us well. She was able to give recommendations on pizzas and we liked everything she recommended. The slices here are huge! I stopped with my sister and my friend and we were stuffed by the time we were done. We ordered three slices of the Detroit style and two regular NY style. My favorite were the two NY style slices. They had a nice crunch to them and were loaded with toppings. The employees were friendly. Also the Caesar salad is great! read more

Maybe I've been living inside a pizza box but I'd never heard of this place until a week ago when a Yelp friend posted images from a pre-Grand Opening event in Gilbert...right up the road from me! Checking out more about Slice House's origins and their 13-time world pizza champion owner Tony Gemignani I knew I should check it out the hour it opens! I arrived right at 11am on Saturday for their Grand Opening and the line was already around the corner of the building. This gave me time to figure out what slice to get for myself and which slice to take home to my wife. Employees were handing out water and talking about their business which made the wait feel shorter. Once inside I noticed the place isn't too large, about 6-8 tables and a small counter seating. They also have patio seating with large umbrellas. I ended up ordering 4 slices because I want to sample each style of pizza. I ordered (1) Detroit style Motorhead (Saturday special), (1) NY style Wiseguy, (1) Grandma Sweet Gino and (1) Sicilian Traditional. Despite the hundreds of people it didn't take long to get my slices and head home. I ended up eating 2 of the 4 slices myself as my wife had the Traditional and my son ate the Sweet Gino. They both enjoyed their slices. I was firing on all cylinders as I ate the Motorhead Detroit style slice...it was huge! The dough was so good (firm but airy)! Usually Detroit pizzas are heavy but this one was perfect. The toppings were all of the highest quality and I could taste the pizza love in each bite. I also ate the NY style Wiseguy pizza. The ricotta dollops and the sweet and spicy sausage made this a true winner. Reading their take-home menu I want to try pretty much every single specialty pizza they make. The purple potato, Cal Italia and the Burrata Queen all have my attention...will be watching out for when those slices are available! I'm really excited the Southeast Valley received this gem! I always welcome a pizza place that offers the opportunity to order up slices and Slice House gives you the chance to do so with great variety. They seem to have Sicilian, New York, Detroit style and Grandma style pizza available every day in different iterations. As far as I can tell you can order up a slice from the pizzas that are made or you can order your own pizza and wait longer. My family and I each tried a different style of slice. My Sweet Gino (grandma style) was tasty. I especially liked the fresh mozzarella on it. My only concern here is that there is very limited indoor seating and it gets snatched up quickly. They have a nice patio but there aren't enough umbrellas for all of the tables. We visited on a hot evening and were roasting out there. Maybe they could add more umbrellas or I don't know if a misting system is too expensive. I don't live close enough to take my food to go, so I don't want to go back if I have to sit outside in the heat. read more

Hubby & I had dinner here last night. We got there a little before 5:00 & it was already packed. It is small inside. There are a few tables inside. They also have tables with umbrellas outside. You order when you walk in. You get a stand with a number if you are eating there, or a buzzer for take out. There have several pizzas to order from. They are large slices & run through the oven when you pick what you want. Those come out quickly. They didn't have slices of the pizzas so we ordered 12 inch pizzas. We also got an order of garlic bread. The girl who took our order told us it would be 15 minutes for the garlic bread & 35-45 minutes for the pizzas. We weren't expecting that, but we wanted the pizzas we wanted so we waited. The garlic bread didn't look like it was cooked enough, but it was & it was good. The sauce that came with it was really good. Hubby ordered a 12 inch Detroit Motörhead. I ordered the 12 inch chicken, bacon, ranch. We shared a large fountain drink. Since we waited 50 minutes for the pizzas, we had a long time to observe the staff. The staff is friendly, welcoming & thankful for the business . The owner stood making pizza boxes, wiping down tables, talking with the customers & filling in wherever needed. The reason for only 4 stars is in my opinion it is too pricey for the amount of food. Although the food was good, 2 pizzas, an order of garlic bread & a found drink was $70+ before the tip. Stopped by Slice House by Tony Gemignani to try a few different items and overall it was an okay first visit. The shop has a clean, casual slice-spot vibe and the energy inside was great. What really stood out though was the customer service. The staff were awesome, super friendly, welcoming, and genuinely seemed happy to help. It made the whole experience feel a lot more personal than your typical grab-a-slice place. I tried the hot chicken slice, the Detroit Motorhead slice, and the meatballs. The hot chicken slice had a great crunch and a nice spicy kick, but it was a little on the greasy side. Still enjoyable and I'd rate it around a 7.5. The Detroit Motorhead slice had an incredible crust with that classic Detroit-style crunch, but the overall flavor felt a bit muted, so I'd put that closer to a 6. The surprise winner for me was the meatballs. Really well seasoned and tender, easily an 8, though the sauce could use a little more depth. Overall it was a good experience and the service alone makes it a spot worth supporting. I could definitely see myself coming back to try more of the menu. read more

This restaurant had a lot of indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating had giant umbrellas too. This is a Pepsi location in case that's important too your visit. Now the pizza, wow! The crust was nice and crisp. And not all sweet, the sauce was thick and the toppings overflowed. Also the slices are huge! I only needed one to get full. Hubs had two, we saved the rest for supper. I will definitely return, the meatballs were served hot hot and again the sauce was thick and not sweet which I really appreciate. I had a wonderful experience. This was close to my hotel and had great reviews so i stopped in. I got the slice of the veggie and slice of the pepperoni and let me tell you - They were HUGE. One slice would have been fine. Walking in you order at the counter and they were very helpful with any questions you had. I decided to eat at a table inside but they also had outside seating if you wanted to do that also. It wasn't too busy but only because it was Memorial Day later in the day and I'm sure many were enjoying their day off. Pizza was average at best, nothing spectacular as was led to expect with all the "award winning" hype. Better pizza is found at Vero's up the street or even at Costco. IF the pizza was a fresh pie instead of pre-cooked and rewarmed I might have a diff review. Caesar salad had a good dressing but a fairly bland and not unique Caesar otherwise. Would I come back? Yes. Was it the greatest pizza experience I've ever had? No. Was it good for quick, by-the-slice pizza? Yes. So, going in with reasonable expectations, I give this place 4 stars for the "by the slice" experience. I imagine that this could be different for the "full pie" experience, so take my opinion from that perspective. There is not enough seating space inside the shop to worth mentioning, so plan to sit outside in their patio area or take it to go -- which seemed to the the most popular option the night we visited. Even if we could have agreed on a whole pizza, it would have been at least 40 minutes to get it. The new place was that popular and I am happy for them. For a family of people who each like different things, this is a good place. Each of us had a different style of pizza, each choosing from the available daily special slices in the various styles. I had the Detroit style and it was good. Not the same as ordering a fresh pie all to yourself (IYKYK: hot and crispy, caramelized cheese on the edges), but still solid as a reheated slice. The others in the group had the Grandma or Sicilian style: the consensus was that they were all solid offerings and that coming back to try a full pizza in the future, once the popularity wanes a bit is reasonable. Worth the hype but it's pricey! As a New Yorker, I love seeing pizza by the slice in AZ (albeit this chain hails from Cali) but prepared to pay $7 a slice! They offer a multitude of options including Detroit style, NY style and Sicilian pizza, vegan and gluten free as well whole pie options. It was a busy Friday night and service was friendly and much quicker than expected. I love that they have indoor and outdoor seating options as well. If you're looking for a quick giant slice this could be your spot. The service was quick and there's seating inside and out. I ordered the sausage and hot honey slices which was ok but the one that really stood out was the pop special. I never like chicken on pizza but it was delicious and tender. The best flavor. I would get that next time I come. The crust is thin but stable which is good for picking up to eat. You can order side sauces and salads. We also ordered a chocolate chip cookie which is a pass. Walked into the spot and was immediately impressed. It was clean, welcoming, and the display case was packed with pies that all looked incredible. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and happy to answer any questions about the different slices. Big shoutout to Dom get that man a raise he's the heart of slice house I ended up grabbing a few slices, as you can see in the video: the Traditional, the Tomato Pie, the Hawaiian Hitman, and, last but definitely not least, the Burrata Queen. Let's start with the Traditional. It came topped with pepperoni and sausage on a Sicilian crust. I'd give it a 7.9/10. Unfortunately, it was served lukewarm, so I didn't get the full flavor from the pepperoni or sausage, and the cheese never reached that perfectly melted, gooey texture. Next up was the Hawaiian Hitman. It was topped with ham, bacon, and pineapple, but the pineapple slices were so thin they were practically nonexistent. Let's be honest--the pineapple is why people order a Hawaiian pizza. The bacon completely overpowered everything else, making it hard to enjoy the other flavors. Then came the Tomato Pie, which was, unfortunately, my least favorite. It lacked the rich tomato flavor I was hoping for, tasted pretty bland overall, and the crust was overly chewy. It just didn't do it for me. Now for the reason I'd gladly drive 45 minutes back to this place: the Burrata Queen. This pizza was absolutely phenomenal and earned a 9.1/10. Built on a Sicilian crust, it's topped with ricotta, sliced mozzarella, pesto, burrata, agave garlic, Maldon salt, and Tony's hot pepper oil--no tomato sauce. The crust is somehow both crispy and fluffy at the same time, and every bite is packed with flavor. It's honestly one of the best slices I've ever had. That smile you see in the video says it all. The Burrata Queen alone is worth the drive to Slice House. One last tip: mark your calendar for Wednesday. If you're planning to stop by for a slice. You order at the counter and then they call your number when your food is ready. Service was quick, even for it being new. Interior looked clean.
