We've been let down so many times by the Hageman store we decided to try the downtown store. Ordered delivery. The salad is absolutely disgusting, it looks like its been out for 3 days. We ordered a creamy garlic chicken pizza that is supposed to have broccoli on it- nope, not a piece of broccoli on the whole pizza. I really think the people making the food know it's for delivery and they know the delivery person will be long gone before you open the box, so they literally don't care when they make it. It was surprisingly not super packed. It was about $20 for the both of us. The buffet is in a small back corner that gets crowded easily and the hoods above the trays are so low you have to bend over to The options at the buffet include: cheesy garlic bread, slices of pizza (which is a pretty small pizza sectioned into cheese, combo, pep & sausage, etc all on the same plate), sautéed veggies, wedges, fried chicken, lasagna, penne pasta w/red sauce, I think wings? and a salad bar. We came and did lunch buffet on a Monday. About $10 gets you your drink, salad bar, dessert, pizza, chicken, wedges, and some pasta and other dishes. The pizza was good. Not to thick crust and light on sauce. Salad bar was small, but fresh. I got some mixed veggies that seemed heavy on butter. I would've prefered to have them just steamed. Hubby really liked the fried chicken. He thought chile verde was ok, but didn't care for the lasagna. 4 year old liked the cheese bread, which is french bread with cheese. Also, she loved the chocolate cake. I tried the cheesecake which tasted more like flan. I love Slice of Italy. We've been coming to the F Street location for years. Every restaurant is bound to have good and bad days, but we have only had good days at Slice. Great staff and delicious food. The pizza is always delicious, but I particularly love the honey Siracha shrimp! Also love that they have a wide selection of draft beers. Okay, so I finally tried this location tonight after using the rosedale location pretty frequently. I honestly just come here when I want a white sauce pizza. I got a creamy garlic chicken pizza, like I normally do in rosedale. I went in for carry out without ordering early. The place is obviously decorated by someone who had no clear vision, which reminds me of the rosedale one. Tacky paint, nice booths and lighting, weird salad bar set up, TVs everywhere in weird places, and awkward cash wrap. The bathroom was super clean!!!!! Anyways, back to the point. The pizza tasted just like the rosedale location and was absolutely delicious. My only issue is with the broccoli. What is with the broccoli? I love that vegetable, but on that pizza it was a crappy choice. I should have asked for it to be left off, but I wanted to give it a shot. It seemed burnt and smelled terrible. Once I picked off the broccoli, it was amazing!!!!!! Also, the employees were very kind. A waitress even asked me if I was doing OK while I waited for my pizza to cook. Slice of Italy is located in the down town area on F st. Street parking only. Can get pretty crowded for lunch. The place is big and roomy, lots of big screen TVs and plenty of booths and tables. We came in for lunch. I checked in and got a yelp coupon for a free cannoli valued at $5. We chose to order dine in but they also offer a buffet that looked pretty good. Buffets just aren't really my thing. We ordered an appetizer of wedges which were very fresh and hot. You could tell they had just made them for us. I like that. Hate wedges that have been sitting in some warmer for hours. 5 stars for the wedges. We also ordered a small pizza which for a small was really big! The pizza was delicious and very modestly priced. The lasagna with meatballs was out of this world good. Very delicious. Then we had a cannoli which was yummy too. The service was really good especially since it was so crowded with the lunch crowd. The pizza here is pretty damn good and cheap!. I've only come here a couple times to play pool with friends and eat some pizza. The owners are very nice and cook a great pizza. The place is a little dated and dirty so it's not a date spot. Also the pool table is a little warped but it's not like we were having a tournament. -One thing I've wished about this place though... The owners (I believe) are Indian and I always thought if they could make a curry pizza it would really give this place some extra zing to set it apart from other pizza places. Went in today for the lunch buffet with friends. We had two buffets and a mini pizza. We asked how long it would take for the mini pizza to be read and were told it would only take 15 minutes. We had the buffet, there was only salad and lasagna. It was completely empty. No pizza, chicken, nothing. When the chicken came out I grabbed two chicken legs. When I cut into it blood squirted out!!!! After 25 minutes my friend asked about her pizza. They said it was two more minutes. Another 10 minutes went by and still nothing. The food here is great! I had a meatball calzone and it was amazing and tasted like it was made with fresh ingredients. Service was good. The tiramisu is the best I've ever had (Yes it's better than Rosa's.) Daniel the chef came out and introduced himself to us, apologizing for not having the cocoa powder on top of the tiramisu (it didn't even need it, tasted amazing without it.)
