I really wanted to like Bakersfield Pizza Co and it wasn't the worst but it wasn't anything that blew me away and made me excited to rush back. I had the Italian Trio and as you can see from the picture several of the toppings were burned, not toast, just burned. It added that burned scent and flavor to the pizza and brought it down for me. The cheese pizza was fine, it was a pretty standard cheese and the sauce was a little light for my liking. I also found the crust to be a bit chewy and not in a good way. It wasn't a great first impression but I'll probably give it another shot because the potential is there, they are generous with the toppings and very friendly so maybe it was just an off night. read more

The cake display was calling my name as well. We went with the large pan pepperoni and olive pizza and a dozen wings, buffalo and garlic parm. Wings came first and were pretty good, fried and crisp the way I like em and the sauces were good 7/10. Pizza came and a little disappointing as we thought we were getting a thick pan pizza but looked pretty standard pizza thickness. Pizza was cut horribly and we made a mess first few slices. The taste was just ok probably a 5/10. But we both started noticing a very strange smell, I thought maybe the dough was bad it just fermented too long but it just kept getting stronger like urine. It ended up being the olives!! We didn't finish the rest of the pizza. We wanted to tell the manager but seemed kinda rude to force them to smell the olives so we just left it be. In hindsight probably should've just let them know and the balls in their court from there. On the bright side the olives weren't bad they actually tasted good just smelled bad. Since we were still hungry we ordered 2 slices of the cake from the counter that looked so good! $10 a slice. The driest cake I've ever had. It was almost a joke. Another $20 wasted!! Bad night! The crazy part is we're still willing to give them another shot for the pizza and wings, not the cake. But if it's bad a second time it'll be our last. No help on ordering, the tone was not only bad toward us but to other customers as I was observing. I ordered a michelada and the person taking my order also asked what type of beer do I want with this, "I said Modelo". He offered boho for 1.00, of course I didn't pass this up. When the beer came I just received a Modelo which was no big deal. After I drank it I went to get my other one but ask for the michelada but the bartender said the bogo doesn't come with this and asked for my receipt. I showed him it and he then looked upset and talked to the persons taking orders but nothing was said to me. Whatever!! I ordered the sampler which was good. I also ordered the pan pizza, combination. The pizza came out and it looked good, but the dough was so dense and was not hot on the inside. It was chewy, I took it as a lost. This place is a gem! I loved the old decor they had, this place could be perfect for a group or just for date night. I was pleasantly impressed by how clean everything was even though it was at the end of the night. We came for date night and decided to try one of their speciality pizzas, the hot honey chicken. It was absolutely delicious! The pickles had a crunch but not over powering, the crust was crispy, and chicken flavorful. Our bartender was quick and polite. Drinks 10 out of 10. Came on a Tuesday with a group of 10 for lunch. Service was fast and friendly! The restaurant was not very fully so we took up a whole side area. I ordered wings, salad, and 4 X-Large pizzas. I ordered a medium and it was huge. Enough for 3-4 to eat comfortably. My hubby had the Margherita Pizza regular style. A bit too much tomato sauce for his taste but crust was crunchy and it was cheesy. Plenty of parking in the open lot. We had a medium pepperoni pizza crispy along with white garlic cream sauce. Pizza was good. A medium was more than enough for 2 of us to share. The pepperoni was $13 and it was ok. Nothing to write home about. The poppers. $6 for 5. They taste just like Jack n the box or sonic. Just a slice of jalapeno. A cheese sauce. And that's it. Mozzarella sticks $6 and I've had better. Today I've been with an upset stomach all day. I honestly think it's from the chili Verde pizza. Another trip to Bakersfield Pizza & Bar, another happy customer! This time I ordered the Ricky Tony pizza. It is a delicious meat pizza with red sauce but with a garlic sauce drizzled on it. Very rich. Very filling. But very delicious!! We got the Garlic Bombs with marinara sauce. ALWAYS DELICIOUS!! I had never tried the onion rings so we decided to get them. They were so good. They had a lighter type breading on them and big onions. Very good. Try them! The restaurant has a nice vibe. The bar is big with plenty of seating. Full bar! Not just beer and wine. Stumbled upon this pizza joint while looking on yelp & saw that they had unique looking specialty pizza's! We ordered a large tropical thunder + a sampler plate for dinner & it did not disappoint. Unfortunately, we didn't get around to eating our sampler plate quick enough so everything was soggy :(, but the assortment of items was good for the price. The tropical thunder is definitely a spicy pizza w/ lots of kick bc of the jalapeño & the habanero drizzle, but you can definitely ask for it on the side if you're afraid of going overboard! The ambiance was typical for a pizza parlor; loud music, big screen tv with sports playing.... Place is open seating and you order at the counter or bar, they hand you a number and then you find a seat. There was a young man bussing tables who was extremely friendly and helped us find a table and some drinks. The menu featured wings, salad, sandwiches and of course pizza. There are two crust options, thin and pan. There are some features specialty pizzas as well as build your own options. We opted for a large thin crust with pepperoni, mushroom and olives. Pizza came out in a reasonable amount of time given the traffic and it was hot and fresh. Pizza tasted great and enjoyed by all. The crust was thinner than expected and was not as filling as you may expect. I wish I'd sized up to the XL. We didn't order drinks, but there was a substantial drink menu and I smelled wood burning for a smoked old fashioned when I refilled my water.
