I did not care for the cabbage. I'm not really a fan of cabbage. But when it's made really good, I will eat and enjoy it. This plate was definitely good after a night out.

Decided to try some chicken from this place at the Cluck Fest. My cousin said he's had food from…read morethem before and that he really enjoys it. The menu had Jerk chicken, curry chicken, and brown stew chicken. I wish they would have listed the sides on the menu as well, so it wouldn't leave potential customers wondering what comes with the chicken. I planned to get the jerk chicken and my mom was going to get the brown stew chicken. My mother and I aren't eating rice right now, so we asked if we could get a plate without rice and peas and just double the veggies/ greens. He said he did not have enough veggies to do it for two plates. I said okay well if we get one plate can you do it on that one and he said ok. So instead of purchasing two plates we just purchased one jerk chicken plate. The chicken was good and the greens were flavorful. I wish there could've been another veggie offered like cabbage so I could've had cabbage and then greens, but overall I enjoyed the food. Only other tip besides adding the sides to the menu, is that I think they would've benefited from having another staff member. It was only one guy plating the food and taking the money/ orders. There was someone else who would come to refill the food but they didn't help serve.

Service: 3/10 Service truly matters--sometimes even more than the food itself. Unfortunately, during our visit, the service left much to be desired. My wife and I were the only guests in the entire restaurant on a Friday night (6:30), yet the service was surprisingly slow. Our server lacked basic hospitality skills. He wasn't welcoming, barely spoke above a whisper, and failed to engage with us at all. We had to move our own dirty dishes just so he could place the next course on the table. When he brought to-go containers and the check, he said nothing--no "thank you," no "have a good evening," no "hope to see you again." Just silence. It was awkward, especially considering we were the only table in the place. When my wife's salad arrived, she had to ask if any salad dressing was available. The server mentioned two types, then vaguely referenced a third one he couldn't pronounce. Ideally, he should have asked for her dressing preference when she first placed the order. He gets points for bringing our food and drinks. Food Sweet Chilli Wings: 9/10; these came out piping hot, and the sauce was finger-licking good. Chicken Curry: 9/10; you could taste the love. Somebody spent time making this dish. Creamy and fall-off-the-bone tender chicken. Candied Yams: 9/10; tender potatoes and not too sweet. Mac and Cheese: 8/10 Patty: 8/10; light and flaky shell, and well-seasoned filling. Could've used more filling, though. Jerk Shrimp Salad: 6/10; the greens were fresh, but the salad itself was very basic--there was nothing particularly unique or elevated about it. The shrimp portion was quite skimpy, and unfortunately, the shrimp tasted like they had been previously frozen. To make matters worse, they were served with the tails still on, which made the salad awkward and messy to eat. Honestly, we could've recreated a similar dish at home with a bag of mixed greens and some jerk seasoning. Coco Bread: 5/10; The bread was light and fluffy, but tasted like air. It was forgettable. Update: 8/10; I heated the bread in the air fryer the following day, and added some salted butter. Talk about a level up! That's how it should be served in the restaurant, warm with butter. Pineapple Ginger drink: 7/10; promoted as freshly prepared. It was ginger-forward, and would've benefited from carbonation. But they also serve ginger beer. Ambiance It's an adorable restaurant filled with colorful paintings of New Orleans. The huge backdrop/mural behind the bar pays homage to the city's architecture with its depiction of window shutters. And it's airy because of the high ceilings. The wooden tables and chairs are a nice touch, and would feel right at home in a bed and breakfast.
