Amazing! My heart jumped for joy when I saw this food truck at the Holiday Bowl because I knew we were getting REAL food! My husband ordered the Diablo Burger, which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Since he said it was delicious, I decided to go back and get a burger of my own. Best decision ever! I chose the Western Burger. This half-pound monster of a burger was so huge - I couldn't fit my whole mouth around it! It wasn't going to stop me - crispy bacon, fried onion rings, and super good BBQ sauce. Muaah! Slider House is now showing up at SPAWAR Old Town on Wednesdays. I was excited because I'm ready for some new blood around these parts. I tried two of the sliders. The Western which was OK and the HiSo which was awesome!!! The HiSo is a slider with prosciutto, gruyere, arugula and garlic lime aioli. I tend to think most aioli sauces are way overrated but in this case it made the slider very flavorful and light. They have a combo which is $6.00 for for 2 sliders (same kind) and fries. I'm glad I switched it up with a friend where we both ordered the combo and different burgers and then switched. He was the one who ordered the HiSo and if I hadn't tried that burger vice the basic Western that I ordered I probably would never have ordered from them again. So I will be back to try some other burgers if not for just that tasty HiSo. read more

Not the freshest looking burgers. The menu is promising, so hopefully with some changes they'll get it right. Until then, I'll pass. I tried the Earlybird slider which is a 2 oz burger patty topped with a fried quail egg and Siracha sauce. See! Sounds promising, right? My friend and I stumbled upon this food truck yesterday while it was at the Mission Mall. I had the Western ($4) with Fries ($3) and my friend had the BBQ pulled pork($3). The Western was good. It had a great blend of favors and was a hearty portion for a slider. The fries were not worth $3. They lacked flavor and were just blah. The BBQ pulled pork on the other had was simply delicious!! I had a voucher for this place that was nearly impossible to use, there were so many restrictions on places i couldn't go to eat it sucked. I went to a couple places and they told me I couldn't use the groupon there. I tried to call the number on the voucher a couple times but never received an answer. I finally reached out over yelp to message him to see when i could finally use the groupon and he gave me a date and location to find the food truck. I drove 20 minutes to the place and the food truck never showed up. I asked the school and they said they left before setting up because they never booked with them and weren't supposed to come. I messaged him again and didn't receive a message for like a week. Thank goodness the last place I went to FINALLY the food truck was there and I just used it, what a relief. *I will say that he stated I could have my money back if I didn't want to use my groupon anymore, but how can I have my money back from someone who I can't even get ahold of? I tried them again after a couple years have passed. Again, the meat was dry. I understand that keeping such a small piece of meat nice and moist could be difficult, but they need to work out the kinks. If you're making a slider and you have a line of people waiting for their burger, why are you over-cooking it! They're small patties! Just don't cook them so long and #1 they'll be more moist, #2 they'll be in the customers hands more quickly, and #3 I guarantee they'll taste better! This place has incredible potential and what's great, is that judging on the line, plenty of people are willing to give them a chance (despite the price- which is totally reasonable if you are giving me something WORTH the price, but currently it's not...). These guys CAN figure out how to fix this and blow everyone away. I'm looking forward to whenever that is because as I said, they have potential. I got the earlybird burger w/ fries. The main issue with the burger was the quality of the meat (ie. very low % lean). It seemed to be less than 70% lean. It was super fatty. Otherwise, the rest of the ingredients tasted fine. The fries were okay, but I think a but undercooked.. Maybe because they had a huge crowd and they were struggling to keep up. read more

Caught the food truck at the weekly downtown food truck run. Tried out the Hi-So slider and fries (each charged separate). Throw a drink in and it was roughly under $10. I thought the slider was actually pretty good and it had a different taste to it. Made out of prosciutto, arugula, smoked gruyere, garlic meaioli this had a rich filling flavor to it. The sliders were not fresh, the employees seemed like they were being held hostage, you could chew the lard from the patty being cold and reheated poorly, bread was meh, and no attention to the preparation or the freshness of their product. Super awesome customer service and such a friendly staff. I got the the western, earlybird and Hawaiian S&S. The seasoned ground beef on all the burgers was one of the best I've tried from all the food trucks I've had. The earlybirds quail egg changed the game with its combination of gauc sriracha-like sauce. The Hawaiian s&s fuses the American and Hawaiian taste well. The westerns bacon and buttermilk crispy onion made me want to come back for more. read more

Only giving 2 stars because the fries were okay, albeit super greasy. The slider was about the size of a golf ball on a way-too-big bun. I don't know why I expected more from a "cheddar bacon" burger than just a slice of cheese and 1 piece of bacon. No ketchup or anything. The bun was insanely greasy, and the cheese still had wax paper on it. Also, it took about 45 seconds for our order to be ready, so we know the burgers had to have just been sitting there for who knows how long. Not impressed at all. I have to say this was one of the best food trucks I have eaten at! I ordered the western and it was better than a lot of restaurant burgers I have ordered. Food trucks. With the possible exceptions of durian, stinky tofu and a scorpion shower, they can be some of the biggest love/hate, hit or miss experiences out there. Will the truck be worth that price premium for the novelty and some (hopefully) elevated street-side dining? Or will you have dropped $20 on something you can get for less money and in larger quantity elsewhere? Slider House Burger Co.'s truck is under the Moody's umbrella, a company which owns a small fleet of food trucks specializing in various cuisines which crisscross probably most of San Diego each day. Unsurprisingly this truck serves out sliders, and you know what? They're okay! The meat comes out a little dry like it's been pre-cooked and then re-heated on a griddle, but the other ingredients thrown on seem pretty fresh. Out of the six mainstays, my favorite two are easily the Earlybird and the You're My Boy, Bleu. +Earlybird -- bacon, guac and a fried quail egg? Yeah, I'm pretty much there fast, hard and often. +You're My Boy, Bleu -- I'm quite the sucker for bleu cheese on beef in nearly any instance. A little more of that crisp salty bacon and onion strings thrown on top...as Louis CK once said, "When you have bacon in your mouth, it doesn't matter who's president or anything. Every time I'm eating bacon, I think, 'I could die right now,' AND I MEAN IT." I'd skip the fries unless you really need the carbo-load for that marathon you're about to not-run later in the afternoon. The buns are decent, but you just kinda wish they had that nice egg wash to make them glisten a little in the sun. All in all, a food truck that I neither hate nor adore. I just ate two Jack in the Box tacos for lunch. That should tell you what I thought of my Slider House experience. But let's set up this review with the story behind it. I regularly meet my lovely wife near her office for lunch. After hearing that a C Street food truck party had been created on Wednesdays, I obviously couldn't resist setting up a lunch date to take advantage of the offerings. I had heard tales of the food trucks, specifically a great torta truck that was there last week, so I was pumped. I found a great parking spot, made it into downtown in record time, beating every red light. We cruised the food truck options and settled on Slider House. I was intrigued with their quail egg topped slider, and also eager to try their bleu cheese topped slider. Oh hey look, their line isn't that long! Great! We place our order and are slapped in the face with the statement "it is going to be 30 minutes". I look around, realize that the other trucks are busy too, and we might have to wait in line for them, so I relent, hand over our cash, and sit and wait. I'm on lunch break from work, but maybe I'll just stay late to make up for this slight delay. We sit. I watch slider get handed out to eager customers. Maybe the wait will be all worth it. Then I watch a lady go up to the window, complain that it has been 40 minutes and she hasn't gotten her food. Guy at the window says 5 more minutes. 35 minutes have now passed since our order. I get fidgety. I go up to the window, ask where we are for my order, guy says at least 15 more minutes. Considering his original 30 minute estimate was now at the very least, 20 minutes off, I could see that 15 minutes turning into 30. Keep in mind, this is all for sliders. Small, thin pieces of hamburger that shouldn't take AN HOUR to deliver. After doing the math, I go back up to the window, ask for my money back, and walk away. At this point, we don't have time to get food anywhere else. We invested 40 minutes into this place with nothing to show for it except for frustration and extra work at the end of the day to make up for this disaster of a lunch. THANKS SLIDER HOUSE! Judging from their Twitter, they have been serving for just shy of a month now. Way too long to have an operational disaster like today. I get it, the food truck fair brings in a huge influx of customers. But that's not a surprise, it's like that every week. It's not like we were offered a discounted product for the 4th rate service. At the least, if you can't handle the orders, don't take them and don't take the money. It should be common sense that people at a mid day food truck fair are on lunch break from work and don't have an hour to wait for their food (in addition to the time spent walking, selecting, and ordering). In my case, after the 40 minute abortion of a wait and the requisite refund demanding, I had no options but to go back to work - my wife had no choice but to walk back to her office and warm up her lunch of leftovers. And that's how I got to eat 2 Jack in the Box tacos for lunch. It was the only thing with drive through on the way back to work. Sliders would have been nice. They certainly looked OK for those lucky few who actually got the items they ordered. We, unfortunately, were not that lucky. I'll be thinking of Slider House today when I am at work late, as well as when I'm sitting in I-5 traffic due to the aforementioned late stay at work. read more

I met up with my husband and his co-workers at Second Chance brewery for happy hour with my baby boy because his bosses wanted to see our little one. I was starving and ordered these amazing mini burger sliders!!! I ordered the 2 combos; you're my boy, bleu and Hawaiian s&s with fries. If you love bleu cheese, like I do, then try "you're my boy, bleu" sliders! Mouthwatering sliders with crispy onions, bacon on a toasted brioche bun and Hawaiian s&s sliders had pineapple and mango relish, roasted garlic aioli, aged white cheddar, on a toasted brioche bun. If you love anything Hawaiian especially pineapple and mango, try the Hawaiian s&s sliders!!!! So good!!! Now I want some again!!! read more
