The technician showed up with a helper. They did a good job on the sliding doors but he told me it was $250 a door, for 4 doors, period. He never mentioned another thing about anything costing extra and I made the mistake of assuming it was going to be around slightly over $1000 with tax, etc.to get the doors to function better. What he didn't tell me is they charged an astronomical amount of money (3-4 times what the normal price of these items) for every part that they used. They charged me $1,320.00 (Amazon sells a two pack of stainless steel wheels for $36.00, for example) they me $165 a piece for eight wheels. $75. each for 4 handles, $125.00 a piece for 4 locks. And $250 for each door. My total bill came to $3120.00. Big rip off. These prices were so inflated for every single part that they used. Don't trust anything verbal big mistake by me. On May 3, I had this firm do some work on my sliding glass door including fixing rollers, changing a track, and replacing a lock. I had two other contractors working with me that day, and was all over the place. The tech left the home a mess, and I contacted them to send him back to clean it up. They did that, and he cleaned up the grease (it took almost an hour) on Thursday, May 4th. I advised them on May 15th that my door does not lock and asked for A tech to repair it. I was advised that the same tech who did the work originally would handle the lock repair, and would be there between 8-10 AM on Tuesday, May 17th. I stayed home from work and waited for the tech who never showed, and never called. I called the office to complain, and re-schedule with a DIFFERENT tech as the current one disrespected my home and disrespected my time. I also asked for a manager to speak with me as I was advised the new track I had paid for had never been installed by a different contractor in my home. No manager called, but the new tech was scheduled for Thursday, May 17th between 10-12. I waited until 12:15 and the tech never arrived, and never called. The second "no call, no show." I called the company to advise my displeasure, asked for a manager, and asked for a full refund of my $520 as the work I paid for was not completed. I have now waited in my home 4 times for this company to do the job that I paid for, and made seven attempts of reaching out to try to accomplish the same. Still, no call from a manager. I now feel as though I'm a victim of fraud. The work I paid for was not completed. I need to hire a more reputable firm to complete this task- more time and money out of my pocket. By all appearances the task was relatively simple, and I'm baffled as to how it's not been done correctly, nor have you made any legitimate attempt to make it right. PROS: They were prompt to come out and give me a free estimate. I needed an entire sliding door assembly with frame so it wasn't cheap. However, I had already had several repair outfits come out and tell me they couldn't fix it, so I didn't have much choice. I have to say, the door they manufactured fit almost perfectly. They informed me they would have to cut about an inch out the floor tile, which they did perfectly. The door works great, for the first time since I've lived here (8 years) I can open the door with pullies and hand grenades. ;-) CONS: The initial door assembly takes a LONG time. Weeks. (They did warn me up front though). The only other issue was they forgot the screen door and that took additional weeks as well. All in All though, I'm happy with my new door. I paid $465 for a screen door here. That's already exorbitant but what really angers me is the very poor service. They left a huge gap between the door and the screen. I had to ask for a piece of rubber to fill the gap. What's the point of a screen if it can't keep out mosquitos! I waited a month for the rubber (and had to call repeatedly for them to come back) and couldn't use it until then. I am a snowbird. I came back this year and the screen fell off. I realize that they installed it backwards and I can't get it back in. They refuse to fix it saying it's no longer under warranty, counting the date they should have installed it. I'm 75 years old and a retiree, as is my wife, and we both believe that we were taken advantage of by Sliding Door Express (SDE), which has subsequently ignored our multiple requests for contact with the firm's officials to discuss our issue. When SDE's field rep came to our home on March 30, 2022 to repair a sliding door that wasn't moving freely and do other sliding door-related work, he told me that taking down our sliding doors to address the one door's lack of smooth movement would cost $275.00 for the labor and that the only things we'd need to pay for otherwise would be parts. He then decided to replace that door's two rollers without taking the doors down, but, after he replaced the rollers, he noted that there were two spots on that door's track that weren't smooth. He told me that unless something was done to solve that problem, the newly installed rollers would get ruined. I agreed that he should do what's needed to fix the problem. He fixed it by taking down the doors and then gluing an approximately 8' long and less than 1/4" wide stainless steel cap over the uneven track, and it took him perhaps 10 minutes to do it once the doors were down (I watched him do all of it). Then, when he was done making all repairs, he presented me with an invoice for $994.00, on which I later noted we had been charged $275.00 for labor and $400 for "track replacement 50 per fit 8 fit" [I'm assuming that's 50/ft. times 8ft.]. However, he'd replaced no tracks, and, based on my internet queries, the cap he put on the one track should have been $50.00 or less at retail. I won't go into the drama of how it happened, but I found myself in that situation where I needed to have a pane of glass in our patio doors replaced asap. I had called several places on recommendation of friends the morning after with the run around from all of them, we don't do Miami-Dade, we don't do Broward (I'm on the county line so apparently I fall into that grey area), we don't do doors, we don't do windows, we only do jalousies. Who KNEW windows and doors had so many specialty groups. I called Sliding Doors Express at about 9:30am and got YES, we do replace glass on patio doors and YES we have someone available to come out to you soon, between 11 and 1, if that's OK. Damn sure it was. I had just spent the night on the sofa with an aluminum baseball bat and a machete. This young guy, Jude arrives at shortly after 11a.m. Takes measurements, makes phone calls and gives me a quote for the job which I thought fair and reasonable so I say go ahead. But, seeing that it's impact glass there might be a delay. But YAY!!! He calls his boss and they can get the glass now and today. So out comes the door frame and off it goes in the back of his car. It's estimated to be going to take four hours. We have the hole taped up with black plastic garbage bags, thankful it's not 100 degrees August Miami weather. Nobody likes swamp butt. BUT...the door comes back 2 1/2 hours earlier than anticipated! Ah-fucking-mazing for Miami, and Jude installed and tidied up after himself better than I could ever have. Ladies...he has a vacuum!!! Nice website, so I called to schedule an appointment to get an estimate for a new balcony sliding glass door. Guy arrived and immediately started bad-mouthing the company, saying we didn't need a new door even though that's what they'd want him to sell us. Instead, he said, he could easily fix our current door and it wouldn't cost much. He was our friend and would do such a great, fairly priced job for us that we'd be happy to refer him directly to our friends. Our bad for not getting a price at that moment. 3 hours later the sliding door was fixed, but the screen repair was sloppy and incomplete. We gasped when he said we owed him $765. This company subcontracts its workers .. they do a great job. The problem is, there is 0 communication until you start saying the words "I want a refund" .. they said they had to wait for sliding doors to come in but when they got here the sticker date on the sliding door said June 17th .. they installed the doors August 6th. No phone calls were made to me explaining where everything was. Again, the installation went well and the work looks good. But to sit and let someone wonder if they just got scammed for 6 months is not ideal. I hired Sliding Doors Express to install a glass hurricane door and sidelight. They didn't even completely caulk the frame so there are big holes around the door, they left the shims and nails from the old molding sticking out in a dangerous manner,and they didn't make sure the deadbolt slid smoothly into the door jam before they left. I was locked out one day. I called and texted numerous times before and after being locked out. They said they were coming, but never did. They are not really in Hollywood, their "operator" is in the Philippines. When I became suspicious because they wouldn't give me an answer about whether or when they were going to come for the installation and called the Florida licencing department. I called the phone number they gave me, but the man who answered begrudgingly admitted that it was his company, after he answered with a different name. I checked with Scam Stoppers who said this is a "fly by night company." At this point, I want a significant refund so I can have a real company finish the job. I have already reported them to the Better Business Bureau but they don't seem to care. They will probably just go out of business and reopen under a different name. read more

Disaster. I had a technician come out( after they rescheduled twice on me) to repair a sliding door of mine that had a tiny gap on the top right corner.The technician said he would take a look at it and see if he could fix it without having to call another technician. He proceeded to unscrew something on the bottom of my door rendering it impossible to open and at the same time increasing the gap on the top of my door that was about a quarter of an inch to about a two and three-quarter inch gap. He would have to come with another technician and that it would cost at least $500 in service charges to repair the door that it was a big job. The door that I was able to, prior to his arrival, push closed and keep shut was now 10 times worse. So basically, he came broke my door and then said that I needed to pay at least $500 for him to come back and fix what he broke. When I told him that I need to get other estimates for such an expensive job he left in a huff without even saying goodbye. I called the company and requested that a manager call me back and they never responded. I would not recommend this company ever. It seems very much like an almost criminal racket. Oh and it's worth a mention that when I issued my complaint to the young woman that was answering the phones and I asked the name of the company she gave me a false name! read more

Don't waste your hard-earned money in this company. I called this company for a quote to service three sliding doors in my condo. I give them credit that the scheduling, on-time service was very good but their pricing was overly high and not worth it. The technician who prepared the estimate made it look like it was going to be a whole day job with expensive parts to be replaced. He gave me a 30% discount from the original estimate after a few calls with "his boss" and I accepted. Then he asked me for 50% advance to buy the parts, the parts I found out were only a small fraction of the price they told me. I'm talking $12 per roller instead of $80 as the technician stated. To schedule the job, once again it was very efficient and they showed up on time but the job only took them 2 hours instead of the "whole day". They did a good job but I felt robbed by deception. The job was ridiculously over priced and all they said after my complaint was that this time they got lucky with the job. Later, I asked the maintenance manager in the condominium if he could have done the job. Indeed he could have and charged me only a fourth of what I paid. It was my bad for not doing my due diligence to quote somewhere else and I paid the price. As the popular saying goes "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me".... 12/29/22 Don't trust this company! Yesterday, after missing one appointment already, I had this company come out (again 1 hour late) to service my impact-glass sliding door. It needed new wheels and realignment. The technician was friendly enough, but he had difficulty removing the wheels. He explained that the frame was sealed with silicone which is common for impact-glass sliding doors and he would not be able to dismantle the frame to remove both sets of wheels. He proceeded to pry apart the bottom frame to remove both sets of wheels which made me nervous because it appeared to me to be a little rough, but I relied on his expertise. After the work was completed, it appeared that everything was working correctly. The bill was over $700.00 which I thought was way too expensive but I was happy to have the door finally repaired. After he left, I took a short nap and 3 hours later noticed a 3 foot crack in the class coming from the bottom frame that he bent. I'm not an expert but I suspect that bending the frame caused torque/stress on the glass causing it to crack. I called the technician and now the excuses started pouring in. "When I left your home, the glass was fine" he said. But I did not relent. His solution was to offer to replace the glass for free but I would have to buy the glass (for $300.00) and they would need to pick up the door and it would take 2 weeks to repair. I found this unacceptable. How can I leave my home unsecured for 2 weeks? Why should I have to pay an additional $300.00? I've called and left messages to management but they've ignored me. Bottom line, I paid over $700.00 and now my glass is broken. Today the crack has gotten bigger and a second crack is forming at the base of the frame. read more

Do not use this company. The company was very vague when I called for a service call. They would have to let me know what the cost would be when the technician got there. The cost was $295 plus parts, which ended up being $184 for rollers for one door. I was in a pinch because the door was at the point that it barely opened and was afraid the door would break when opened. They even charged me an extra 5% charge for using a credit card. It was $501 total for less than 30 minutes work. He then "offered" me a discount of $265 plus parts to take care of my other 2 sliding glass doors each. You have got to be kidding. The technician who came out did a rather poor job. He seemed to not know what he was doing, was unable to perform the work without my assistance (I had to hold the door for him to make adjustments, hold the lock for him to adjust it, etc) The work he did was very subpar, he took the door apart and was not able to fully put it back together with screws left over that wouldn't fit in, broke the ability of the door to lock resulting in him spending 45 minutes on the phone talking with someone else to try to fix it. Then when everything was finally put back together (with parts still left over as he couldn't get all the screws back in) the glass didn't fit properly and you could see it wasn't straight. He assured us it was fine and left. Within days the door fell apart and the frame and the glass separated allowing you to slide objects THRU the gap. On 7/22 we called back and had him come out and this time he actually took the door down along with our screen door, during which he required my wife to help him carry the door and move it. Then fixed it so that it fully screwed back together and the glass straight and then left without putting the screen door back on prompting us to have to do a 3rd call to have him come back and finish putting the screen door back on. My main concerns is why he is unable to do the job properly without myself or my wife having to help him lift a heavy glass door, why he left the door in such a precarious state, and why it took 3 visits to do what should have been done in 1 visit. read more

Had a horrible experience with this company. Took 10 months to get impact doors installed. Communication is absolutely horrible at every step of the way. There Customer service is absolutely terrible. One of the most frustrating experiences with a company that I've ever had. We had no glass in one of my doors for 6 months while waiting for impact glass, was not informed that the process would take so incredibly long. Took them forever to get permits, dragged there feet at every step, said they were doing one thing and were not even at the part of the process yet. Installers they use were good though. Only efficient part of the company is when they are trying to collect payment from you. Very persistent with that part of the process, every other part of the process involved a lot of phone calls, no one calling me back.Then me calling back, getting no additional info. They didn't have the proper rollers for my door and instead they installed the ones they like, and even bet that they were the right ones. After disassembling one of the doors with original rollers, they realized that they were wrong. When assembling back the door, this man broke the roller and then said that he didn't, and that i had to pay for an additional one. Fortunately I took a picture and demonstrated that it was okay before. I had to talk to a supervisor, not very friendly, who at the end decided to do the right thing. I found this company online, and thought they'd be perfect to fix the tracks on my sliding doors, and re hang a screen door. They diagnosed the problem of a faulty wheel on the bottom of the glass door, and said it would be $275 to fix. I asked how long it would take and they said less than 1 hour. I asked why they charged $275 per hour, and the tech (I think he was the owner) said "for his knowledg!" Yikes!! I pay less than that for my vet!! And in the end, they were unable to rehang my screen door due to a broken track. They wanted to charge me $125 for each wheel in my screen door. (The actual door with wheels was less than that). I had them quote on replacing handles and rollers on several doors in my condo. I asked to see handles before they ordered as I wanted to make sure they were right color. They just went ahead and ordered wrong color anyway. After saying they couldn't get what I wanted, magically they were able to ultimately. Now it gets good: they came to install them, but didn't have parts. Then they returned with parts, but only one guy. Needed two guys to lift door out of track. Next visit, two guys...and they dropped the door, shattering the glass. Glass was reordered, wrong size. Anyway - over 2 months later, job is done. Add to that screw ups with appointments (text confirmations for day/time that don't match actual), unapologetic management, poor phone/call back responsiveness, and alas - not a company I would reccomend. I am INCREDIBLY disappointed and frustrated with my entire experience with Sliding Doors Express for SEVERAL reasons: - After spending $400 2 months ago, my sliding door no longer closes properly. Both the technician that "fixed" the sliding door, and the person over the phone said that the problem should be covered under warranty. However, the company refused to resolve the problem without charging an additional $125. - I feel as though I was misled by the company at multiple levels: First by the first technician who said the sliding door was covered by the warranty. Second by the person on the phone who said the same after I described the issue to them. And after all of this time, effort and stress, my door is still not working properly. - I found the technician to be very rude. I also found the person over the phone had an uncaring/apathetic attitude when I explained the entire situation to them. Detail: First, before they came to "fix" my sliding door, the technician completely forgot our service appointment and neither he nor the company provided any notice. We had to reschedule for the next day and then he showed up late. Second, after they "fixed" my sliding door, the technician said that my sliding door had a 1 year warranty and that I should call the company should anything go wrong. 2 months later, my sliding door would not close properly. I called the company and described the problem and was told that it would be covered by the 1 year warranty and that I would only pay $29 for the service call. The technician arrived, took one quick look at the sliding door and said that I would have to pay $125 on top of the $29 to resolve the problem. I explained that I was told by the last technician, and by the person over the phone, that the problem should be covered under warranty. The technician rudely said that the warranty somehow didn't apply because it "wasn't covered". I showed him the receipt and pointed out that the receipt simply said "1 year warranty" with no fine print. He then rudely asked "if the sliding door glass smashed should the warranty cover that as well?". At this point, I paid the $29 for the service call and kindly asked him to leave. So... let me start by saying it was a good service and the problem was fixed. But.. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE. My problem with the sliding door was the fact that my lock was not actually locking. When the technician came in he said that it was because my door was not leveled and that's why it was not latching and that I needed new wheels. He suggested for me to do the same on the other sliding door because of how stiff it was to open. I agreed to his advice. The final price of just replacing both wheels was $465. Also, the initial check that I wrote I put the companies name. Then the technician mentioned it had to be made out to his name and so I did. I have a Condo that required a new front door. I contracted with them Friday and was scheduled for installation the next Thursday. However, the stay at home order related to corona virus was in effect so the installation was delayed. They stayed in almost daily contact with me updating me on progress rescheduling the installation and completed the job the following Tuesday. I was impressed with their customer service, quality installation and pricing. This is the second time I've used this company and was very pleased with the service on both jobs.
