I eat Slims about once a week. It's located right next to my office. So on busy days where I need to grab food fast and get back to work I order online and walk over to get it. I've tried several different things from here. Let me tell you about my favorites. The highlights. There are three. 1. The chicken tenders with sweet Thai chili. This sauce is the best if you ask me. I sometimes go for mango habanero. But my absolute favorite is the Thai. I'm not even going to comment on the chicken. It's fried chicken. It's pretty good. The end. 2. Fried mushrooms. Look, I know it's not for everyone. But my absolute favorite thing about Slims are this mushrooms. I get them every damn time. They're horribly unhealthy. They're freakishly greasy. But, omg, they're amazing. 3. Strawberry lemonade. No longer available. I hope they bring this back. Their strawberry lemonade got me hooked on lemonade. Never was much of a fan until I decided to go out in a limb and try it. I instantly fell in love. Man, of all the chicken places I think this is the best. I know people are super in love with Christian Chicken - and I like them, too - but I just think Slims is better. Sorry bout it. Go give it a try. Funny story, my bosses boss (a senior chief with the navy) came to town one day to visit my office. I was out of the office all day so I never really saw him. The next day he called me. He said, "PS3, have you ever tried that chicken place?" I told him I had. He said, "Have you tried the cayenne chicken sandwich?" I told him no. He said, "You need to try it. That's all. Went today with my son. I ordered sandwich meal then asked what he wanted. He replied 6 wings. When the girl brought order to the table it was my meal and a box of 6 bbq sauces...no wings!! So, that same girl said she said order back but I know I said wings! Like hello, who orders 6 sauces to eat. She had a rude tude to begin with. Why work with people if you hate it?? They were very busy the night I went in and the drive thru was wrapped around the place so opted to go in. Parked on the wrong side of the building and found it challenging to make my way around to the entry. Once inside however the place was simple but very nice and the folks taking orders very nice and helpful. I ordered wings with a side of mushrooms. Everything was very tasty and they arrived quickly. I came here for lunch during my visit to Jonesboro. It was fairly empty surprisingly. I've visited a Slim Chickens back in Texas and I was a fan of the food which is why this place was a safe bet. The chicken was tender and the house sauce was delicious. The place was a bit on the dirtier side: sticky floors and dirty tables. My review tonight isn't about the food, but the service. I'm sure all kitchens can crash. But being 1 out of 4 people in the drive through me being the second car. I waited 20 minutes for my food. The inside wasn't busy, I counted 5 heads, and watched the beginning of despicable me on the DVD player in the car in front of me along with starving kiddos. After the SUV in front of me was served it took another 10 minutes for my food. If you want to be served promptly or are in any kind of hurry do not dine here. Although the cashiers where very nice and seemed frustrated with the kitchen. Either the kitchen cooked the chicken individually piece by piece or was half assing their job. I love their food, but their drive through is so painstakingly slow that I could have left after putting in my order, gotten food somewhere else, and come back before the first dude in the drive through got his meal. There were 2 people in front of us and barely anyone inside, and it took me 22 minutes from when I placed my order to when I got my food. Unacceptable. read more
