    4 piece Tenders

Full discretion-I didn't have high expectations for this place. I was hungry, didn't want to wait 20-30 minutes to order from a restaurant, and really didn't feel like getting out of my car. So Slim Chickens came to the rescue. I ordered the 4 piece tenders meal with a vanilla shake. Everything was delicious. Since everything is cooked to order, all of my food was fresh. If you're looking for a tasty, affordable, and convenient food option then look no further!

Five stars for a fast food chicken spot? Am I high, drunk, or slowly slipping into madness because of this quarantine? Maybe all of the above? Here's the deal, their chicken sandwich is nothing short of amazing. I had mine tossed in Korean BBQ sauce, topped with coleslaw and pickles. This was very messy, but I licked my fingers clean! The sauce is slightly spicy, but not over the top hot. The slaw and the pickles added a nice freshness to the sandwich. Juicy chicken, crispy breading, a soft bun... winner winner chicken dinner! My wife got the tenders meal with fried pickles. The tenders were good, but I loved the fried pickles. Everything we ordered was amazing, but once you dipped it all in the Slim Sauce, it was on like Donkey Kong wearing Sean John. I almost forgot about the Mac n cheese; creamy, gooey, and super rich. I highly suggest this as a side on your next visit. Stop going to Chic-fil-a, Slims Chicken is the new hotness!

Visited Slim Chickens for the first time on a Saturday afternoon. The parking lot looked pretty full, so we took that as a good sign. We ordered some fried pickles and chicken tender meals to try. The fried pickles were really good and came out hot and fresh. They were probably the best part of our meal. The chicken tenders were okay, but our fries were only lukewarm. I had asked what the Slim sauce was when placing my order, and the girl behind the counter couldn't describe it at all, but I decided to try one anyway. Well, it really didn't have much flavor at all. It reminded me of a bland Thousand Island dressing. The honey mustard, however, was very good. I also tried the slaw, which was a creamy slaw and also quite good. Overall, our experience here was not bad, but there are other chicken establishments that I prefer.

Slim chicken meal, mac n cheese and chicken and a waffle

I was lucky enough to try this place out tonight on their soft opening and was very impressed. Counter staff was knowledgeable, all of them were friendly and eager to help. The food was delivered quickly and hot. Very clean and a nice family/ fast casual atmosphere with a patio that will be clutch come spring. My son had the chicken and waffles and loved it! I had to sample the mac n cheese that was creamy and delicious along with tenders tossed in sriracha garlic sauce... not too spicy, but just right. I think there were 11 different sauces to choose from to toss or dip. I opted for the "Slim Sauce" and the spicy ranch perhaps, both delish! Pricing was affordable. Glad to have a new chicken option in town. My 10 year old said on the way out, "that would be a great place for Valentines Day."

Cayenne chicken sandwich w/ fried mushrooms

Had a chance to check the place out on opening day. Went through the drive thru. Ordered the cayenne chicken sandwich meal and added fried mushrooms instead of fries. The up charge was minimal. I can tell they make them fresh, they are not frozen. I was excited to notice they make their ranch dressing from scratch. Yum! The sandwich was really good not too much breading and not dry. I really enjoyed it.

Normally fast an easy to order ahead and pickup, but unless you're parked near the front door they will never get to your car. There is no system of getting people their orders as they drive up. I had my kids with me and after waiting 20 minutes and seeing multiple cars pulling up after me and getting their orders before me I had to shout out at someone to tell them to please get me my order because I can't leave me kids in the car. Then, I check my order to make sure it's right, which it normally is but my family side order of pickles is not even filling half the box. So then I had to find someone to ask them to fix that. Over 30 minutes later I should have just gone through the drive through. Won't be going back for a while until they figure things out. Edit: The food is still really good. It's just the online order and pickup that needs work.

Had to get my wife's fuzzy red dice in the pic:)

When I arrived, there were a lot of people waiting around the cash register. All of them were waiting for a pick up order and most had been waiting for over 30 minutes. One man has been waiting over an hour and kept on waiting for an additional 20 minutes after that. I planned my drive based on the time so that I could just pick up the order and take off. However, I was asked to wait another 20 minutes. Though the wait was excessive, the manager was handling all customers with such grace. He wasn't rude, explained to everyone about the delay, and even when he was cursed off by an impatient customer, he kept his calm. I do hope everyone enjoys their meals, and I hope that the restaurant find a way to place the order faster. 4 stars for handling a difficult situation wonderfully, but minus one star for the long wait. Food tasted great!

4.5 The new year is…read moreas good as time as ever to try a new (to you/me) restaurant in an unvisited (by me/you) part of the midstate. Old Hickory Blvd is to the Nashville area as Peachtree is to Atlanta: it's everywhere and nowhere at the same time and no one knows where you are if you say you're on it. Well, needing lunch on a Friday in the new year, I made my way onto Old Hickory to see where it took me. It led me to... Old Hickory and Granddaddy's Original Hot Chicken Shack. It had been on my radar for a while but I never had a reason to me in this part of the county. I decided to make time on this day. Besides the potential gastric distress I find myself avoiding hot chicken because of how colonized and commodified it's become. What was a community staple (and not a 'Nashville' food) has become something that's turned into a chain item, largely without the very people who made it a thing (creators and patrons). Incredibly frustrating. So, when I decide to eat it, I want to make sure I do so responsibly and with consideration. Hence, Granddaddy's. I parked in the ample lot and walked in to find a small dining room that smelled incredible. I was greeted with an authentic smile (you can see it in the eyes and hear it in the voice) and asked (first) how I was doing and (secondly) what I'd like. I answered ('well; thanks for asking' and 'shredded chicken sandwich & fries to go, please.'). In all my professional eating*, I don't think I'd ever had shredded hot chicken. I was going to learn that day. I sat down and watched TV as my food was prepared. After the conclusion on my show, my food was ready. I thanked the folks behind the counter, smiled, waved, and hit the bricks. I noticed that I made a muscle when carrying the bag. This was a good sign. It was also a long drive back to my house. I got home and realized why I had to exert effort to lift my food: it was huge. You definitely get your money's worth. On an over-sized bun, I had an extremely generous amount of shredded hot chicken (medium), cheese, ranch, and pickles. As you might imagine, the flavor combo was A+. What you might not have bet on, though, was the texture win of the sandwich. The soft bun, shredded chicken, creamy ranch, and crunchy pickles added up to a memorable chew with every bite. The fries weren't merely a side. They demanded your attention: a generous portion of seasoned fries that lost neither heat nor snap on the drive from Old Hickory to my home. No matter where you live in the midstate, if you profess to enjoy hot chicken, you owe it to your mouth to make it to Granddaddy's. It was one of the best lunches I'd had in a while. I still think about it. *It's true.

They have a smallish seating area with a bar, plenty of space for a sandwich shop, and a big screen tv that was showing a Back to the Future movie. We ordered: - BLT (Thursday it is the Thursday special and comes with fries and a drink for $12) - Cheesesteak (obviously) with onions, with cheese wiz as the Lord intended - Mozzarella Jawns - I've never heard of that before but they're a very wide, sorta flatish cheese stick. I think they are named after an app from Bar Jawn in Manayunk (a Philadelphia neighborhood). Took it to go. It comes with house made chips and I ate those most of the way home. I'm normally not a fan of house made kettle style chips but these were great! Too salty for my husband but just right for me so your mileage may vary. The hot out of the fryer mozzarella and fries did not fare well on the 12 minute drive home but when I got to the house I popped them in the air fryer and they crisped back up to perfection. My husband had the BLT and he said it was delicious. The bacon was a little more crisp than he does it for himself but that's a personal preference thing. The tomatoes and lettuce were very fresh. As a BLT aficionado, he was a fan. The real star here was the cheesesteak. My husband said "this is better than the cheesesteaks I've had in Philadelphia" and he was not wrong. The meat was cooked perfectly, chopped and tender. Seasoned but not so much that the onions couldn't shine. Onions were browned and lightly softened, not soggy. The bread was delicious, soft and soaked in their homemade cheese wiz. Their cheese wiz? A national treasure. If I could order it by the tub I would and I'd never struggle to get my kids to eat their veggies again. It's that good. The whole thing was a 12/10. I have pictures but they're blurry because I couldn't sit the sandwich down long enough to photograph it so I'll rely on others for that. TL;DR - Go get a cheesesteak.

Took me back to my youth on the South Side Of Philadelphia. The Italian Hoagie is made with real Italian meats - Hot cap, mortadella, salami and pepperoni. The potato chips are cut and fried in tallow by the owner. Same with the shoe string fries. They are worth the trip all by themselves. Tallow....yum. If you eat healthier, there is a chicken salad served as a sandwich or salad that is amazing. The chicken is brined for two days then roasted in-house. Only a Chef/owner who loves what he does would go to that trouble. Huge portions on every item we ordered. I mean HUGE - come hungry to Milestone, leave full. The service was friendly and helpful.
