I got the catfish sandwich medium heat and it had a nice little kick to it. The cashier was super helpful in explaining the spice levels. The inside is quiet as well as clean and you're able to either eat in or take your food to go. The catfish sandwiches were huge! You get two full hefty pieces of catfish and 4 pieces of bread to make 2 sandwiches. All the fixings are there to build the sandwich as well as your side. Are you kidding me? Why is this not in the West Coast? We tried three different Hot Chicken spots during our 5 day trip to Nashville. I'm going to rate them in order with BJ's Hot Chicken being the top pick out of the three for me. For starters, this restaurant is clean and relatively new with plenty of seating for several group sizes. Our party of 4 spent the day out and about getting into shenanigans so we definitely worked up an appetite. We arrived during the dinner rush and ordered the following to share: #6 combo which was 6 WINGS + 2 SIDES ($18.99). We chose Mac N Cheese and Potato Salad as the two sides. Let me add the wings were massive! Definitely not the tiny chicken wings you would get from elsewhere. #11 combo which was CATFISH SANDWICH + 1 SIDE + 1 DRINK ($12.99). The side was french fries for this combo. Everything came out still steaming hot from the kitchen. The wings were well seasoned with their secret dry rub, and there was very little batter on the wings (which is how I like it!). I noticed a lot of chicken wing joints have too much breading on their wings making it hard for me to enjoy the true seasoning, spices, and flavors of the recipe. The chicken wings were so moist and juicy in the inside, and every bite was as savory as the next. The sides were fantastic and had its own signature taste complimenting the combos. The spice level to the Hot Chicken wasn't overly spicy for me but it certainly introduced what the kick would feel like -- I'm a fan of this restaurant and would highly recommend to anyone trying Hot Chicken for the first time. I enjoy that the heat level here is hot and not uncomfortable, it is possible to have heat and flavor without being so uncomfortable you can't enjoy your food. The tenders were fresh and you could tell they were hand breaded and not frozen. The Mac n cheese is a little too runny for me but tasted fine. The collard greens would be improved by having some pork or vinegar in it. However the sides were fine. The service was great as I ordered at the counter and the food came out quickly. We have eaten at the Goodlettsville location and it is without a doubt some of the very best hot chicken we ever had. I got the medium hot leg and thigh and I loved it. My wife tried the lemon pepper leg and thigh, loved it as well. We have visited twice so far and the sides are all homemade and first class. The rain kept us home today (so far) but we are planning to get some to take home tonight for dinner. Friendly staff and spotless restaurant. We love the food here. Family run and it shows. We visited BJ Hot Chicken while on a quick trip to Hendersonville. While the location was small, the dining area was clean and tidy. The staff were super friendly and helpful when navigating the menu and options. The food, THE FOOD. The tender combo is one of the best meals we have had in a while in any town we have visited. Even with the quick drive to the hotel, the tenders were still hot and crispy, the sauces were delicious, the sides (fries and mac & cheese) were the perfect combination to the tenders. Meh ..... it's a bit greasy but tasty. The chicken is moist for the most part has a decent flavor. We got the mild, medium and hot. The hot, is pretty hot. The baked beans are terrible. Just straight out of a can with nothing added to make them tasty. The macaroni and cheese is chewy with little flavor. The little cup of the orange sauce is delicious. I drink a lot of water so I asked for a larger cup and the cashier was about to give me one until the manager walked up beside her and took it out of her hand! She gave me a smaller cup. I heard another couple ask where their food was. They were told that tenders take ten minutes. The customer replied it had been 30 minutes. Their food came out quickly. Ours took about 15 minutes.
