I dont know how this place stays in business. I have a gift card so I went last saturday for the first time hoping to find something. I was greeted by this young kid who was very nice and offered to assist me, though I denied but thanked him. There was a woman, sitting behind a plexiglass border, who looked unfriendly and disinterested. The store is very disorganized with products placed and stacked anywhere, even on the floor. More alarming is there are NO prices listed on any item! That forces you to ask them which can be uncomfortable. I spent 25 mins in there and did not find any interest. I bought a pair of overpriced heavy duty work gloves and blade scraper. Unfortunately, I have about $160 credit left and not sure how I intend to spend it. read more

Do not entrust Slims with your tool repair, I lost my nail gun the day I dropped it off at Slims for repair. Initially I thought a repair to my lightly used Bostitch MCN250 hardware nailer would be quick and easy with Slims. After a few months without an update I called and was told it should be finished next week. Next week came without any call or update. I called again and was told "next week ". This went on for another month. I then received a call telling me that my tool was "unrepairable", but they could not give me a reason to support "unrepairable", and was thrown away. Thrown away? This floored me as this was not just some random tool, it actually has sentimental value to me. I have requested several times the return of my tool but was told it was "scrapped". At this time I have been waiting about 4 months. Recently Slims offered me a new tool at a discounted price but I just want my tool back in any condition. I am very disappointed with Slims. I would never have thought I would loose my nailer the day I left it at Slims. Beware read more

I think this place is very manly so it was hard to critique. But I will say it's carpenter heaven and pretty much heaven for any do it urself guy. The prices aren't the cheapest but they do get good deals and have an email program for discounts. They just had the he man competition Sunday April 27, a competition for fast driller, hammer, unscrewer, saw cutter, stuff like that. And they have a big sale. I think they have it every year. So this store really gets involved with their customers. I got lost in the store because I have no idea what anything is but it is pretty organized as u can see from my pics. It's just a ton of tools and guyish environment. Patrick helped us with pricing and find out tools. I went to the past heman sale in April 202q and still waiting for my dewalt power tools. Although they got part of it in they claim it cannot be released until the free attachment and remainder of the items purchased arrives. No calls to update these items already paid for just excuses pushing back the dates month after month after having to follow up myself. I gave away my old cordless weed whacker with expectations of getting one from slims. It's a most extreme inconvenience being I've planned my grass install around that time and was forced to buy a $400 lawn mower from Lowes to cut down my grass. I'm totally disappointed with this experience with Slims, something I'd least expected from them. This will be the last time I'll be shopping their after spending thousands of dollars there. Woodcrafts will be my primary go to store should've stuck with them in the first place instead of getting run arounds from Slims. What a pity and very bad customer service. read more

Talk about pretty much every power tool around, this is what Slim's is like. The staff is very knowledgeable and have been very helpful in locating just what I had in mind. When they have sales the prices are pretty decent too. I happened to come once when they were having a workshop and they seem to go over quit a bit of things on using the various tools. I called Slim's looking for certain router bit. The salesman told me it was not in stock. I thanked him kept calling around. To my surprise, he called back and told me there was one available. I had not given him my name or number. He offered to text me pictures of the router bit before I made the drive down there. It turned out this was just what I needed. The salesman's name was Patrick. I was so impressed with his service that I wanted to give a big shout out to Slim's. This was the best customer service I have experienced in a long time. I received an email offering a Makita combo Kit which I ordered. This email stated that the Kit would be available after August 16, 2021. A day after ordering the Kit (August 11), I received an email stating that the Kit was available for pickup after 11:35 am. I went to the store and was told the Kit had not been received. I showed the email I received stating that the Kit was available for pickup at 11:35 am. I was told the "boss" was in so I left. Later I received a call from Rand (Owner) who apologized for the confusion. He informed me that this Kit was a new promotion and there was a communication issue. He told me that when the Kit is received, he will call me and deliver the Kit to me. The next day (August 12) I received a call from Rand informing me that the Kit came in and he would be delivering it to me in Mililani which he did. I was very appreciative that he personally delivered the Kit to me. Rand is very understanding and customer service oriented. I'm a full time electrician for a private owned business. Right now we are currently cutting threaded rods, unistrut, and other things while on a scissor lift on a warehouse. I purchased my makita bandsaw to make my job easier on 11/28 with no problems. Up until two days ago, my bandsaw started giving me problems not less than 3 months later. I brought it in for repairs with their guaranteed one year warranty, but the time it took for it to come back was too long. To my surprise, they replaced my bandsaw at no cost with no hassle. What more can I say? This business has plenty of aloha and I'll be shopping here for years to come! read more

1st off they overcharge their tools so let me start off with that. My main problem was I needed a repair on my Makita Drill and I had called Slims and a employee said they couldn't repair because I bought it from Home Depot BUT they do honor Makitas warranty and would send it back to makita at no charge. So I bring it in and I explained I had called earlier and they had NO IDEA what I was talking about. UNREAL!!!! (I knew I should've ask who I talked too) So i was upset to say the least. They could not send it back to makita but they could repair it for a charge. Why would I pay for repairs when my gun is covered for 3 years under Makita!?!?! And also I called Makita and they said as long as a tool shop is listed as a "MAKITA SERVICE CENTER" then that shop CAN send it back to Makita free of charge. lo and behold, Slims power tools is listed as a Makita service center. I will not be goin back EVER! I know people will be goin here regardless of my post but if I can sway just 1 person to avoid goin here then I've done my job. read more
