Great local welder. Not overly talkative, just down to business.

I visited AP recently to have a custom steel part fabricated for my motorcycle. They came highly…read morerecommended from a friend who works at a machine shop. The part I needed was a simple flat piece of mild steel with two bends, 6 holes and some deburring. I included a detailed 2-dimensional drawing and spoke with one of the technicians for about 20 minutes to confirm the details and make notes. He estimated this to be about 1-hour of work or less and that it would cost about $55-60. I informed the technician that I needed the part in less than a week, because I had to install it prior to a trip I was taking. He assured me it would only take a day or two. The following week I still hadn't received a call back from AP, so I called on Tuesday to ask about the status of my part? They said they hadn't gotten to it yet. I reminded them that this was a time-sensitive job. He said to come by to confirm everything with his boss, which I did. The boss raised the price to $85, which is on the high side for such a simple job, however it was still under my $100 budget, so I gave the "Okay". They also demanded a deposit before beginning work. Next they called on Thursday and let me know the part was ready to pick up that evening. I stopped by after work and there was still no part. In fact it hadn't even been started! After wasting time and gas, I once again emphasized that this had to be finished no later than Friday. The next day, on Friday, I finally received a call stating that the part was finished and ready to be picked up. I had a friend stop by after work and retrieve the part, however when I got home, there were some errors. Two holes were drilled far larger than the drawing called for and were in the wrong location. In addition, the sharp corners weren't radiused as specified and nothing was deburred, so it had sharp unfinished edges everywhere. After about an hour of additional work in my garage, I finished the part myself and after redrilling, I was able to make it work. However I wasn't pleased about the delays, the increased estimate, the unnecessary trip, and the poor quality of the finished part. If it weren't for the extremely courteous and apologetic technician I originally spoke with at AP, they would only deserve a one-star rating.

The day before Mitch came out, we had a tree removed, which was close to the house, and with leaves that caused the gutters to clog and finally pull away from the 2nd story fascia. I thought that the quote I received to remove the hanging gutters and replace them was fair. I authorized the work to be done that day. The crew showed-up at the appointed time, and completed the project exactly as I wanted! The entire team at Socal Sheet Metal were easy to work with, accommodating, knowledgeable, and experienced. I appreciated how easy it was to work with them to get this project completed and my house back to normal, and ready for any future weather conditions. I highly recommend Socal Sheet Metal! Very satisfied!!

We met with Mitch from Socal Sheet Metal for a gutter replacement with multiple new downspouts…read more Initially, the experience was very positive. Mitch was pleasant, informative, and easy to communicate with. He walked the house thoroughly, answered all of our questions, and provided recommendations. He also gave us a verbal quote and said he would send a detailed cost breakdown shortly. Unfortunately, that never happened. The next day, I followed up via text requesting the estimate and only received a emoji in response. After two more days with no estimate, I called and spoke with Mitch directly. He apologized and said he would send it out. It has now been over a week, and we still have not received anything. We genuinely wanted to move forward with the project, but the lack of follow-through made that impossible. It's disappointing that something as simple as providing a written estimate couldn't be completed. It also raises concerns about what would happen if an installation needed follow-up or if there were issues after the work was done. Very odd experience overall. Great first impression, but unfortunately the communication and reliability just weren't there.
