Here's a place that's been owned by several different people in the last few years. The new owners seem nice at first, and the bar has potential to be awesome but here's my view on it. Beer Pong is over rated, its fun but also a way for people to get totally trashed really fast. This seems to be their favorite thing to do there. Doesn't leave much room for diversity in the crowd, in a town that supports no college life, why have a bar with a college atmosphere. Cameron Park is filled with the wealthy and well off. They wouldn't be caught dead in this place. This place cycles through staff like dirty laundry literally. Why? Because they treat their employees like fucking slaves. Yes that's right, you are meat to them. They don't believe in socializing on the job. I've been in the industry for many years and let me tell you, socializing is exactly what a bartender should be doing. The owners seem to think that if your not working they aren't making money. I get that, but this ain't a fuckin sweat shop. It's a half assed attempt at a bar, with cheesy distributor adds all over the place and rock star crap every where. Any Johnny Jack Off or Sussy Slip In can poor drinks, doesn't mean they'll be good at it. But bartending ain't hard, it's all about your social skills. Keeping people entertained at the bar in conversation is where it's at. I don't go to a bar to stare at a fucking TV and drink, I want to socialize. These people don't get that, hence why they go through so many people. It's not worth working here and really, you can live without ever stopping here for a drink. Two stars is a good deal for these guys, only two because they maintain it so well. But then again, it's a sweat shop remember. read more

Poor service, worse clientele. First time I slipped indoors on someone's spit and sprained my ankle. Second time the bartender responded to a friendly "How are you" on a slow night with "Fine, whatever, what do you want". Then served a watered down drink for $10. read more

This was my watering hole when I lived here. It was called something else and they have constantly upgraded the place with better TVs, more floor space for dancing, and more pool tables. As well as beer pong tournaments, pool tournaments, kareokee from actual good singers, and you can watch a game, plus there is outdoor seating to smoke (if you do....I do not but I dig my friends getting to) and drink at the same time. The good: + Service is always good + Prime location for a bar in this neighborhood + Extras out the door including free peanuts and free popcorn with a machine and all the fixings to make it + Good crowd, good mix of cool people and nice people to look at + Plenty of space for whatever you want to do. Dancin, you got it. Playin pool, check. Sit outside and debate why you are single and dont talk to a single girl all night, you can do that + Standard prices with a good draft selection plus knowledgeable bartenders that keep em coming especially if you tip and always keep an eye when you need another The bad: - Too little parking, not for a standard night. But if you get there late this place is literally too big for all the stalls there. But if you plan to get hammered dont be a dummy, get a DD or a taxi - The drafts seem a bit too light for me. I am by no means a beer expert. I like the taste but I usually drink whiskey - The locals can be a bit stand off ish from newcomers. This is a small town. But if you are stuck on your way to Tahoe and are waiting for chain restrictions to come off I would travel down here and get a room right across the way. read more

Cool bar. Drinks were a little more pricey than I expected but the crowd and atmosphere was cool. Little dance floor and some pool tables is a cool combo. One of the bartenders could have for-sure improved his attitude but it didn't spoil my night. read more

I went here after work to unwind with some coworkers and only have a passport. I pulled my passport out before I ordered my drink and the bartender said he was unable to serve me and drink and said I wasn't even allowed to be in here. All of my coworkers were asking if they could vouch for me and the bartender just kept saying no. He told me I could stay and hang out with my coworkers. A few minutes later he's gets off the phone and said his manager has been watching the whole time and I need to leave. So I said my goodbyes and left. The bartender was very nice and felt bad for me. I just wish there was a manager I could of spoke with at the time, but apparently left early because they were trashed. read more

No longer the Hillsider 2, this bar has again changed ownership and names, it is now named "Slingshots". This must be the 15th name this building has had in the 25 or so years it's been there. For the most part I feel that the place has changed for the better, they cleaned it up a bit, although the previous owner did a significant remodel, the bartenders are friendly and responsive and the new owners appear to be making a real effort to keep the troublemakers out. Pool tables(2), table tennis(2?) and darts(3+) are all in good shape. A friend of mine was in town over the weekend and we wanted to shoot some pool so we tried this place out. There was a DJ playing a great mix of music at just the right volume and they were doing raffles with some nice prizes. Buy a drink they give you a ticket, it was a great environment for Cameron Park. The only thing missing was people! The place was nearly empty! I couldn't figure it out... maybe there was something else going on in town? (funny). I will say that for the most part the people that were there were good looking and having fun, maybe it was too early for the crowd though. I don't get out much anymore but when I'm looking for a game of pool and a beer in Cameron, I'll go to Slingshots. read more

As a patron of this bar since its inception, I must say that I am sorry to see so much negative publicity . Slingshots ownership, and employees have always been oriented toward a good experience for the customer. It is unfortunate that so many people from other areas wanted to come to our community and create problems. I wish well for all during these trying times perhaps patience is the best solution. read more

Stopped here because the Snooty Frog was closed. We just finished hiking and wanted a drink. They had an okay beer selection at very reasonable prices. I liked the bartender, she was really friendly. They had the playoffs on tv and there was barely anybody there. I will try it again if we are in the area. read more

Great local bar with a nice dive bar environment and good people. The owner is awesome and the bartenders are great. It's nice to find a bar where the owner cares so much. Prices are very reasonable and they do offer a limited food menu. Would definitely recommend this place. read more

Okay it's a divey type bar. I like it. It has more than one pool table which is nice. They serve food. They play fights and games on there t.v.s and if you want to sit at the bar that's where you'll want to be as far as catching a Giants game. Decently priced. You can eat peanuts and throw them on the floor. Patio, you might catch a loud rooster struttin down the walkway. It's in a cute area. Nice for a local spot for residents who just want to shoot some pool. Plus happy hour! Pizza is pretty good too. 5 dollars and its a miniature. They brought mine out to me. Check it out. Not a fancy bar but it is pretty nice for it being sort of a 'divey' bar. read more

I dig this place. Lots to do inside; darts, pool tables, karaoke, ping pong. I used to take my dates here in case it turned out horribly we could play ping pong and not have to speak to each other. The staff is super cool and the bar itself has plenty of room so you don't feel like you're snuggling the sweaty drunks at the bar while trying to score a beer. Most of the bartenders are tatted and rad so you don't feel out of place going in ripped jeans and a tank top and getting, for lack of better phrase, "ultra plowed" on a Saturday night. The clientel can sometimes be a little sketchy, but I guess that's every dive. I will return to this place often. :) read more

Tonight I arrived to Slingshots in Cameron park with a friend that drove us there to have a drink, and I had my ADA registered approved services dog ( yellow lab) dog with me; however, as I approached the entrance I was met by a bouncer that informed me that my dog was not allowed, as I began to explain that my dog( that was on a leash) is a registered service dog, a woman outside that identified herself as the owner ( I believe her name was Loretta) proceeded to verbally assault me, yelling making a scene , and citing profanities,. She further refused to allow me and my dog entrance.even as I as I attempted to explain and offer proof that my dog is a registered service dog ( not to be confused with a therapy dog); however, rather than review the information this " owner" continued to yell and cite profanities. By this point , I will admit, I did not respond the way I should have , instead I met this person where she was and engaged in an exchange in an exchange of verbal assaults. I then called 911 , and when they arrived,, I explained the situation, the events as they occurred,, and showed my service dog registration. In addition, I asked the cops if I am wrong or could have done something different, please let me know. The cops confirmed that my service dog registration was legit, but said, It would have helped if I would have also had a vest on my dog with his credentials. I acknowledged this and informed them that I only got my dog registered less than a week ago, so I'm working on it. I left the bar without further incident, but am truly concerned about the business owner of an establishment that would behave in such a fashion when I didn't violate any laws regarding a service animal. I would have liked to have an adult respectful and professional dialog with the owner, but I was not afforded the opportunity, and the owner further stated that " had my dog not acted a specific way she would not have said anything." This statement still leaves me puzzled as my dog is a very docile animal. In fact he met another dog outside and the intersection was without incident. Although, my response was less than optimal as I responded out of emotion due to the discrimination I experienced which is a violation of the law, I would encourage other folks that have a condition requiring a service animal to go to this establishment to see if this is the standard practice or an isolated incident or to avoid such a discriminatory establishment altogether. read more

I've been coming here for years. At first I didn't mind the rooster, until I saw it bunks in the dry storage! Then there was the pizza oven that I thought had to been some sort of safety/health issue... given the fact I come here for beer I wasn't worried. I've worked in numerous restaurants and I know this place is not clean DO NOT ORDER FOOD HERE Then there is the bar top deep fryer that has to be a health problem because breathing in dirty burnt oil could be an issue. I really wonder how much the fire department would approve. Or maybe the health inspector. Because I know for a fact that this has to be infringing on some law. Also the staff members were not certified by the state by serve-safe credentials. (I wouldn't be telling ppl that either) Either way the staff is very friendly and I expressed my concerns. They said to talk to their boss because they didn't want to upset her?!?!? So I take it the owner is in denial and has no real connection to their costumer base because I know there are a lot of unhappy regulars that refuse to return. read more

Had a couple of friends talk this place up so when Bethany asked me to come I said sure. I was id's even though I was the desonate driver. Note that I am 29 years old, my license was ten days expired and I had paperwork for the new one coming in the mail. No other bar in the area like it. Fun activities planned throughout the year. Friendly staff. Owner takes time to show customers how important they are to her by interacting with them personally. So I have tried this spot twice now in a month. Never again. Dirty slimy bar....restrooms reeked....daytime bartender was obnoxious and condescending..."Erica" was her name and she was a poor excuse as a rep for your business....I made some comment under my breath about her shitty mood and a regular heard me...he said that it was normal....and then he said something to her and it turned on me...all I wanted was a couple of drama free cocktails...not Went in Sunday nite with friends for Karaoke....screwed up people being obnoxious and rude on patio....bartenders who both reeked of weed doing multiple shots as opposed to serving....wow...if I were the owner I would be really worried....good luck with all that! read more

ok first things first i went there because i wanted to play pool and it was free pool night so myself and my girl went there which was the good part now the kicker when i walked up to the bar the female bartender who was writing something down on a pad of paper there was also a male bartender who was busy with a customer she glanced over at me didnt even acknowledge me and went back to writing on her pad of paper which my girl being in customer service and my years of also being in various types of customer service was pretty much just the tip of the ice burg i waited for about a minute for the guy to finish what he was doing then he asked me what will i have i ordered a house whiskey and coke which came out to be $4.50 now im not by all means cheap but why would i pay a top shelf whiskey price for a bottom shelf whiskey now to continue on about the situation when i attempted to pay the female bartender said that it has to be a charge of ten dollars to run the card so i started a tab i ordered there pizza which was $4.00 dollars a soda which cost $1.00 and a whiskey and coke for $4.50 now when my girl finished her soda she asked for a refil and was charged $.50 cents really you have to be petty since shes the designated driver and charge her for a soda and refils not to mention your snobby attitude and your incredibly lame excuses for tattoos that are blown out oh i forgot to mention ontop of all of this they have peanuts and popcorn but those are not for everybody they are only for day time customers now that that was done and said when we went to pay our tab it came out to be $16.00 instead of 10 dollars now my girl by no means is as rude and mean as me because she left them a 2 dollar tip after bringing to there attention that we were over charged clearly it was a mistake but own up to it the male bartender appologised but the female just acted like it was no big deal and could care less now that is just rude and not appreciated thats why i will stick to my main bar which is the happy bar off of bradshaw and jackson highway drinks are cheaper there and the bartenders are a hell of alot nicer and they also have karaokie wednesday through sunday if your ever in there drop by to have a drink or two because a house whiskey and coke over at the hapy bar runs you $2.75 and if your a designated driver and they see it your soda is on the house and also if it is your birthday you can have one free drink now that i have reamed this place i hope i will see my fellow yelpers at THE HAPPY BAR on the corner of bradshaw and jackson highway read more

Went here last night and Nick the bartender was great! Drinks are good and not to pricy either. I've never done karaoke I was so nervous and went for it! Nick said "one of these will have you singing karaoke in no time" and he was right anyways they really treat you like you matter unlike some other bars and they also don't overcharge you or double charge you for stuff you have already paid for like Churchill arms pub does in Folsom off east bidwell :) I would suggest staying away from there. This is a great bar and the pizza is delicious. The staff and bartenders are the best. The other patrons of the bar are friendly too! I feel comfortable going in by myself for Happy Hour (10-7 daily) $2 draft beer, and they have all kinds of beer and hard cider on tap, not just the usual ones. I LOVE THAT! I come here probably twice a week and I have yet to have a bad time. Tyler and Jared are the best bartenders in there. They are so creative and good at what they do. Sometimes the crowd can be weird; just depends on the night you go. Friday's and Saturdays are the best nights to go, but they have some sort of special almost every night, and their happy hour is from 10 am to 7 pm. read more

Never have I ever been to a nastier bar in my life. It's quite possible the owner is the biggest piece of trash in el dorado county, serving underage children in the bar, bathrooms are disgusting, the men's bathroom door does not close and they have food frying right on the bar. I can guarantee you if ABC or food handlers went in there that place would get shut down in a heartbeat. Really not sure how it's still in business, your better off heading over to wallys, or sutter street where the employees and management have class, and the place doesn't real of fried food and throw up. Good place to grab a drink with friends, nothing terribly special, but fun environment nonetheless

Thursday nights. They are what make this bar. It is a picturesque small town watering hole that you would see on tv shows such as October Road. On Thursdays, one dollar beers plus the weekly beer pong tournament draws a large crowd. And, seeing half the people who you went to high school with is lovely as well! Yes, there are the few trashy brawls, which can be pretty entertaining! While the night life in SF cannot be compared to, Slingshots certainly fulfills that urge to shake your groove thing during the work week. read more

This place is a joke. Stood at the bar for over 10 minutes didn't get helped or greeted. The bar tender looked directly at me and didn't say a word. The people here are shady as well as the guests. The "kitchen" is in the bar. They just have a fryer, toaster oven and that's about it. The "kitchen" is on the same side where the Men's bathroom is and the door doesn't even close. Seems a little unsanitary if you ask me. Only reason they get an extra star is because I saw they have good IPAs on draft. read more

This place is probably the shallowest place I've seen. From the bartenders to the management. The dishes are nasty AF;Such a dirty place. Always some shit in the bathroom on the ground or throw up. I have been coming here for years for special events. Always had a good time until last night. My wife bought me tickets two months ago so we could see local favorite Tesla and celebrate our wedding anniversary on New Years. We showed up early to make sure we could get a good seat. I was shocked to discover that every table in the place was reserved. Asked the owner where we could sit and was met with complete indifference. Tried to ask for my money back and was told that the event was sold out in advance and there were no refunds. I have never been treated with such disrespect.
