First off... how is this place only 3 stars? In my opinion, it deserves 5! I came here on a Wednesday around noon and was genuinely impressed by both the selection and the quality. This wasn't your typical buffet, they had carving stations with brisket and tri-tip, fried chicken, mac and cheese, plus different stations featuring American, Italian, Mexican, and Asian cuisine. There was even an omelet station, making it feel like there was something for everyone. The standout dishes for me were the mac and cheese, jalapeño cornbread, brisket, Mongolian beef, enchilada casserole, and the birria. Honestly, about 95% of the food exceeded my expectations, which is saying a lot for a buffet. Everything was well seasoned, fresh, and frequently replenished. At around $30, I thought it was an incredible value for the variety and quality offered. Overall, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I definitely left wondering why I hadn't come sooner. My birthday week ended with a holiday treat at the well-known Koto Buffet at Red Hawk Casino & Resort. Lunch is from 12 PM - 3 PM. Dinner goes from 4 PM - 10 PM. Reservations are recommended as we had dinner reservations at 4:45 PM that included the popular seafood buffet items (snow crab and lobster). I expected long lines and wait time. Especially being 4th of July Holiday - but was pleasantly surprised. It was busy but not too much. The lobsters were huge and every person seemed to have a smile on their face walking back to their table with their over-sized lobster on their plate. I counted a person going back at least 4 times just for the lobster. The buffet was clean, the food was good and plenty of selections. The staff was productive and wasted no time clearing and cleaning tables. Pro-Tip: If you are a rewards member, you receive a discount on the buffet. There are different levels of reward members status so the higher the membership, the bigger the discount. There is a 90-minute dining period but I'm not sure anyone's counting the minutes. Walked in and were let in reservation line right away. Once we paid we were led to our table. After that we got our crab on. They had the all the things you needed except the disposable bib. There were tons of crab and also other seafood options, including lobster. They had the other themed food areas, and a made to order scampi. Taste wasn't bad for a local casino with some things were better than others. Our favorites were the crab, short ribs, and curry mussels. We liked that there was a self serving drink station. We had dinner her tonight, Sunday, March 1, 2026. We read in reviews and then on their website that reservations are a must and you should make them at least a day in advance. Well, we didn't plan on coming here that far in advance so we made same day reservations and there was no issue. We made them for 5:30 pm which meant we needed to leave the house at 4pm. No problem. Before we set off for our journey I went on Yelp and read many of the reviews and looked at lots of pictures so I knew what to expect. And I wanted to Conquer the buffet as best as I could with my new found knowledge. The Sunday Buffet is from 4-8pm and it's $40, this is not a seafood buffet. Those are on Friday and Saturday Evening and they are 4-10 pm and are $59 dollars. All of these prices are per person. We went to the Kings game around a week ago and our section won free buffet coupons so we were all set. My husband said there was no way he'd go willingly and pay $40 per person for a buffet. So, good thing we had the coupons or we wouldn't be able to experience this. I read that they have a shrimp scampi made to order portion of the buffet and that is what we hit first. They also have scallops. I got them, but they tasted fishy so I didn't eat that part of the dish. Out of the whole buffet this shrimp scampi part was the best. I had mine with: raw shrimp, they cooked it on the spot, garlic, Parmesan cheese, spinach, mushrooms, red bell peppers, purple onions, scampi sauce and pasta. Wow!!! Was that fabulous. Everything from there on out was a let down. The prime was a 0 our of 5. It had no flavor unless you used the horseradish and I'm not a big horseradish fan. I ate it because it was on my plate, but regretted getting it. I really had such high hopes. The red mashed potatoes was delish. The miso salmon wasn't fishy tasting so that was a big plus, but I found it a bit overcooked. I did like the sauce on it. I reccomend the salmon and red mashed potatoes. The garlic cauliflower was tasty as it was a the only vegetable I had not counting the spinach in the shrimp scampi. It was a bit on the dried out side. For dessert I had the bread pudding and cobbler. The cobbler won out by far. I believe it had apples, peaches, and strawberries in it. And that sums up what I had. For the included drinks they had a soda machine that included mug root beer for the win. It also dispensed cranberry and orange juice. For hot drinks they had hot water, but no tea bags, reg coffee and decaf. I stuck with water, but my husband had the Sierra Mist and said it was good and fizzy, which is a huge plus in his book. Each table is given a card to let the bussing crew know if you are done eating or not. If you are still eating turn the blue side up that says still enjoying our meal, thank you. For hygiene purposes they ask that you use a new plate every time you go up to the buffet. If you stack your plates when you are done with them at the edge of the table they will graciously take them for you. They were really on the ball and deserved a hearty tip. For a Sunday at dinner time we were surprised that it wasn't busier, at the same time it was nice to just have a steady stream of people and for it not to be packed. We waited for maybe 5 people in-front of us to get to the shrimp scampi station and when I went back there was no line so it ebb and flows. There were lots of empty tables and no real congestion at the buffet. There were so many things to choose from: Fried Chicken, a carving station that had roast beef and turkey, Miso Salmon, poached fish in the Asian section, clams and mussels, pork ribs, steak medallions, a full salad bar and bread bar, collar greens, shrimp and grits, a whole Asian section and Mexican station including pozole, pizza, fried shrimp, eat and peel shrimp, fresh fruit. Then there was the whole dessert section- sugar free jello, cookies, carrot cake cupcakes and reg cupcakes, cheesecake, Boston cream pie, lemon meringue, rice pudding, cherry pie, pecan pie, bread pudding and hot cobbler, and don't forget the soft serve ice cream with toppings. Would I come back and pay $40 for the buffet, probably not, but we enjoyed our time there and were thankful for a good meal. read more

A worthwhile family night out, especially for our first visit to Koto Buffet's Saturday Lobster & Crab night. We actually had a few family members back out because we were under the impression it was mostly seafood, but it turned out to be a full standard buffet with plenty of variety: pastas, salads, pizza, soups, prime rib, and more. Definitely something for everyone. Pricing was $60 for adults and $25 for kids 12 and under, which honestly felt fair because there's no way two tween girls were about to put away $60 worth of food each. I don't recall hearing about a senior discount, and if they do offer one, I wish it had been mentioned since we had two grandmas in their 80s with us, plus adults in their 50s and 60s. Me, freshly turned 29 however? I'll bravely shoulder the $60 burden. No problem at all. One thing that did work out nicely: parties of 8 or more automatically get an 18% gratuity added. Since you pay upfront when you walk in, it completely eliminated the usual family debate over who's contributing or covering the tip, which was perfect since I was treating. The restaurant itself is tucked pretty deep inside the casino, which is mildly inconvenient. It honestly reminded me of the old Fry's Electronics checkout maze where they'd route you past endless gadgets, gizmos, and candy before letting you escape. Except here, it's slot machines and gaming tables. After getting off the elevator, you walk a ways and then catch another escalator or elevator down another level or two. Maybe it only felt far because we were new to the layout, but give yourself a few extra minutes if you've never been. We were told reservations were required, though technically they aren't. There was a standby line for walk-ins, but it was easily 50 people deep while reservation holders were being seated quickly and given clear priority, as they should be. So while not mandatory, reservations are very strongly recommended. As for the food itself, the crab and lobster were salty but overall pretty good. There was one lobster that tasted a little "off" or muddy, but with buffet-style dining, it was easy enough to grab another. Fair warning though: lobster and crab are messy and take work. This is not a low-maintenance dining experience for the weak, lazy, or easily frustrated (LOL). The prime rib was solid, though not especially memorable. The mac and cheese was unfortunately bland, and the desserts were probably the weakest part of the buffet. The bread pudding was the standout dessert, and my sister swore the soft serve was surprisingly good. Overall, everyone genuinely seemed to enjoy themselves, and it felt like a worthwhile outing with family. We left full, happy, and glad we went. While I'm not completely sure it'll become a regular destination for us, I'd still say it was a fun experience and definitely worth trying at least once. read more

I enjoyed seeing a complete Salmon Lox Bagel area with small bagels, slivered red onions, capers, and cream cheese. So good! The Omelette Station is my favorite part of a breakfast/ brunch because I love omelettes. You can fill it with diced bell peppers, bacon pieces, diced ham, spinach, cheese, garlic, jalapeños, tomatoes, spinach, olives, and/ or mushrooms. The person even asked if I'd like salt and pepper and I said HECK YEAH! Sprinkle it on! It was big and filling. The French Toast was really good! Dusted with a bit of powdered sugar, it satisfied my sweet craving. There is also other breakfast items such as bacon, sausage, pancakes, hash browns (like the McDonalds ones), and more. During this time, there is also a carving station that includes Prime Rib. I asked for a thin slice of medium rare and it was perfect alongside au ju and cream horseradish. The Mac n Cheese is not the elevated type of one but good. I got a second serving. The Mexican Station with Chips, Pico De Gallo, Sour Cream, Chopped Cilantro, Medium Salsa, and more was good too! THERE'S JUST TOO MUCH TO LIST! I wasn't even able to try everything since there is just so much. The Deserts and Fruits is a bit lacking. But hey! It's located inside the Redhawk Casino on the lower level. We made a reservation for 18 people and the whole party has to be there in order for you to be seated. I recommend standing in line before that because they start counting your hour and a half from your reservation time even though we were stuck in line for 20 minutes. They also automatically add an 18% tip to your bill because we were part of the large reservation. They have an extensive salad bar, Asian area, crab and lobster area, carving station, Mexican, American, Italian, and of course a dessert station with soft serve ice cream. I didn't see this at the beginning but near the dessert area, there is someone who makes pasta to your liking. As for drinks, they said there was a happy hour ended at 6 PM. If you want drinks, you get it yourself. I was kind of confused as to the tip because the workers were not around when we needed them. I seen one just collecting plates from our table. I went with some girlfriends for the weekend seafood buffet. It was a good thing we had reservations because it was crowded even at 5:30 so reservations definitely recommended. I concentrated on the seafood. You get a whole lobster not just the tail so be ready to get messy. Luckily they had wipes when we asked for it. The snow crab is served warm with butter available. My first batch was overly salty but the next two rounds were sweet and delicious. I also tried the baked oysters but they were dry and the bacon overpowered any seafood flavor. The beer clams were fantastic but I like clams. They were buttery and garlicky with just a hint of the beer flavor. My last recommendation is the prime rib. Although I only had a thin slice, it was juicy, tender and perfectly medium rare. Drinks were self serve and the come by to clear your trash bucket pretty often. I came back last night (Wednesday) because it was so amazing on Easter and it's pretty close to home, you also can't beat the dinner prices on Wednesday night. The selection was a lot more seldom which I understand it not being a holiday, but some of the food I could have sworn was from Sunday (the fruit lost color and was gross, the cobbler dessert had shells in it) I will say the catfish was DELICIOUS!! What I liked was even doing a lap with the catfish on my plate back to my table it was still piping hot! They do clean your dishes really quickly once you're done with them which I still love. My main concern and I would love to get in contact with someone about this- Last night was a Pho station which they have on Wednesday's, I really came for THAT! Huge anticipation. It's absolutely delicious but to a fault. Unfortunately if you don't eat meat (vegan or vegetarian) they will still put your noodles in the same meat broth. The person before me got pork, and when it was my turn I said no meat and it went into the same pot, when I got back to my table I was picking meat out of my pho. I think it would be considerate to have a separate pot with vegetable broth and possibly even like shrimp for those of us who don't eat meat or are vegetarian / pescatarian. Table game buy in's are very reasonable and red hawk gives amazing comps. Enough about that, let's move on to the food. The Friday & Saturday unlimited crab&lobster is worthy of every dollar it costs. The steamed crab legs are perfectly salted. Lather everything in the warm butter that they offer and you'll be back. The service here has always been genuine and efficient. Reservations are needed- call the day before and if it's for a busy day, make the reservation a few days/weeks in advance. Their prime rib is pretty good, salad bar is perfect, made to order pasta is great. Desserts are on par for a buffet but trust me, get the peach cobbler & top it off with vanilla soft serve and coffee on the side. Their soups and ethnic food are also par for a buffet. Booked a reservation for 2 the weekend before Veteran's day. This buffet is a little on the more expensive side for what it offers. Service was okay; they had people clearing our plates here and there but that was about it. There's crab and lobster and prime rib on Saturday dinners for $60 pp which is more than how much I felt it was worth. The crab and lobster were super salty but I enjoyed the lobster a lot more. The crab didn't have the main claws, just the skinny ones and they were very difficult to peel. The prime rib was a little overcooked but not too bad. They also don't have paper napkins nor did they offer wipes. We had to wipe out hands with only the cloth napkin we were seated with. The drinks are self serve so that was very convenient. The poke wasn't really fresh and neither was the sushi. The salad bar was one of their better options with fresh ingredients for you to make your own salad. They don't have your usual ice cream/gelato bar; just the machine froyo that you serve yourself. It has been two years since we were here for Friday night Lobster. We came to celebrate my birthday. I have been craving crab and lobster and thought it was a good time to splurge at $59 pp. You do need to make reservations online and cannot just walk in as far as I know. I originally set it for 4pm but our day didn't work out and wanted it a little later. There was an opening online for 5:15pm which was perfect but it clearly says please cancel in advance if you are not able make it. There is NO where you can cancel it online and you have to call the 1-800 number and go thru the numerous prompts to get there. Anyway, it all worked out in the end and we were seated right away at the right time. I went straight to the Lobster. It is warm and they give you one WHOLE at a time. It is messy so you get a bucket on the table for discards except NO extra towels! Only cloth napkins. The snow crab is also warm and you can pile that as high as you want. The lobster is severely chewy. I had real teeth the last time we came and now it was a chore. I could not eat it comfortably with my dentures. It is that CHEWY! kinda like beef jerky. I suppose they would rather overcook it than under. I ate more crab instead. The scampi station is the best but tell them to make it small. Otherwise they make too much and it is too filling if you add the pasta. The variety is VERY good of the other foods and anyone can find something to like. I consider it to be the best casino buffet in the Sacramento area. Oh lastly, like I said before, leave a few bucks for the staff constantly cleaning your area and emptying your buckets. There's a absolutely vast array of options, from Asian to meat and potatoes to fish and whatever else. A lot of salad choices too. There's something for everyone. I can't say overall there's much quality, but it is competent at best. I hit the carving station for some prime rib and some sausage, and augmented it with some noodles, stir fry veggies, spicy cabbage and jalapeño cornbread. Yes, a weird combination. The prime rib was just OK with a lot of tough meat and grizzle. The sausage wasn't bad and I liked it. I probably enjoyed the cabbage and noodles the best, although everything is on the greasy side. The cornbread was a bust... how can you have very greasy cornbread! I had a couple if cookies and soft serve ice cream for dessert which was good. Most of the dessert choices didn't really appeal to me, although they do have Boston Cream Pie, a favorite. I just didn't feel up to try it. There's a drink station with lots of soda choices. So we decided to try the Koto buffet today and I was excited to try the lobster and the crab legs! So crab legs were amazing so was the lobster! Very tasty and flavorful and really good size and all you can eat like what can you say about that? That's amazing. I tried the pizza as well because I just love pizza and it was cool. I liked it. oh I also tried the fried shrimp and I also like that. They also had some ribeye steak was very fresh and tasty and some mashed potatoes because you know you're gonna have some mashed potatoes right. So I do recommend this Buffet. For $59 it is an amazing deal. They also have crab legs, prime rib, and plenty of other hot stations to get your money's worth. Even poke and galbi. They have a salad bar and dessert station. Soft drinks, water, and coffee are all self serve. The service was also very good, our waitress constantly emptied our shell bucket. Overall I was extremely impressed with the quality and taste. Came for the seafood buffet dinner last night and overall I was satisfied, but I did deduct a star (honestly debated two) because I was concerned about the lobster sustainability. We came across three female lobsters with eggs, and although some people consider it lucky, it honestly didn't sit well with me. From what I understand, egg-bearing lobsters are typically supposed to be released, so it made me worry about long-term sustainability and potential shortages. Other than that, the experience itself was enjoyable. We requested a table with a view and got to watch the sunset while eating, which made the dinner feel extra nice. The prime rib was definitely my favorite. The crab was juicy and fresh, sushi was just okay, but the poke was surprisingly flavorful. Been here a few times now and luckily both were off peak hours so we never had to wait. Each time was just us two, so we actually got to bypass the reservations line. They've got a good mix of selections and self serve drinks area with sodas and coffee. If you want alcoholics drinks, I think the waiters have to order from the bar outside. When we were there for the lobster buffet, they didn't have a ton of restrictions, and the lobsters were actually pretty good, so it's worth going for the lobster nights. As for all the steaks and carving station, because it's a buffet, and it's under a heatlamp all day, most of the meat is just overdone unfortunately... Seafood Buffet on a Saturday night was packed so having reservations is key or else you will be waiting. Reservations take priority. The star attraction is the lobster. The lobster was good but it was hit or miss with every plate. The first set was overcooked and chewy. The second set was cooked perfectly with the right amount of texture and had better flavor. Tasteful surprises were the pepperoni pizza, sausage, BBQ ribs, and birria tacos. There are lots of entrees to choose from so you are likely to find a few favorites, but keep in mind some dishes will be way better than others. The entrees that were below average and not worth eating again were the mac-n-cheese, shumai, clam chowder, and the oysters. For example, the oysters were small and covered in bacon bits. The flavor of the oyster went missing. Service was attentive. Plates and the food scrap bucket were picked up in a timely manner. Ambiance is casual. Buffet seating can feel a bit tight as tables are close to each other. We had a reservation at 5:30pm on a Sunday evening, but there were plenty of open tables when we arrived so didn't seem like a reservation was necessary for our party of four. We were sat down right away and the staff was super friendly. I started with the Asian food, and was very pleased with the white fish, miso salmon, and tofu dishes. Not too heavy and decent flavor. I'll admit that there were parts of the salmon that were a bit dry, but for me that's to be expected considering it is sitting out under a heat lamp. The Italian food was most of what was on my second plate, and I was particularly fond of what looked like scalloped potatoes and the cheese-stuffed clam-shaped pasta dish. After the Italian, I made my way over to the cocktail shrimp (they were pretty big), and the small portions of poke. The shrimp was good but I wasn't a fan of the poke. It had a strong fishy taste on the first bite, so I decided to not continue eating it. Luckily, I remembered that the action station was scampi so I asked the chef to make me a small portion to finish off the main part of my meal. He was such a nice guy, and made an effort to make conversation with me while he cooked my food, which was so delicious and the perfect portion to make sure I still had room for dessert! There were a lot of options for dessert, and I liked how most of them were in smaller portions (there were even mini cheesecake and pumpkin pie slices), but I made my way straight to the bread pudding. It was warm and soft, so I threw it in a little bowl, topped it with vanilla soft serve and strawberries, chocolate chips, and nuts. Overall, the quality of the food here was better than I've experienced at most buffets, and the place was clean and the staff seemed to enjoy working there. They were so good about coming by to clear off plates too. Despite not being here for one of their lobster and crab nights, I definitely feel like I got my money's worth ($40 per head). Would definitely use my next buffet visit on this place again. Just wish it wasn't so far from where I lived! read more

They have a seafood buffet on Friday and Saturday nights for $59.99. We purposefully went for the all you can eat crab and lobster. Did not disappoint! Plenty of crab and lobster with the staff constantly refilling the buffet. Both the crab and the lobster were moist and flavorful. The prime rib was cooked to a medium rare perfection. There were a lot of other variety of food options at the buffet as well but we were focused on the seafood. Staff was friendly and came by often to check on us. Came here for an early dinner with family. The place was okay. Clean and spacious. Pretty much your typical buffet setup. The food was good and had the usual variety you'd expect from a buffet. Koto Buffet at Red Hawk Casino in Placerville is a great deal when you dine there with a discount. Red Hawk Casino card holders already get a discount of 5% or more depending on their tier level but there are promotions that change monthly - like $10 off per person, making Koto Buffet a really great deal. Their food selections are good (American, Mexican, Italian, Asian), they have seafood on the weekends, plus they feature holiday specials too. As far as affordable buffets go, they're hard to beat. The customer service from everyone that I met at the buffet bar were all so nice. They greeted you with kind words and the entire staff were so friendly. I can't thank you enough to the staff because they were genuinely kind and helpful. The food was delicious. I had about two slices of prime rib with horseradish, their scrambled eggs, calamari, and cinnamon banana pudding (with soft serve vanilla ice cream). I am going to come again for the all the treats I missed because of their wide selection and have to definitely come back for the selections I tried. I've been a couple of times and I've been to dinner and brunch. I gotta say though the price for brunch is unbeatable with buffet items that include prime rib and bottomless champagne. Even with dinner pricing being more it's still worth it especially if you go to lobster night. The staff is super friendly when paying and getting shown your table. $60 for all you can eat buffet at a Sacramento area casino with lobster, poke, crab legs, prime rib, t bone steak, sushi, and more. We got a reservation to avoid the lines. It's in the middle of the casino so you do smell cigarettes walking through, but surprisingly inside the buffet it wasn't as noticeable. I like the sushi at other buffets more, but if you want lobster or other seafood, this place seems to have an impressive diversity. They also make a spicy dipping sauce for your meat and lobster (for us Asian folks that normally try to sneak it in lol). The dessert table was nicely set up too. Just don't expect quality over quantity (who does at a buffet right?!) For the price and what I like to eat, I prefer a different buffet. 1/19/2025: First-Born Daughter didn't want cooking at my humble abode . . . She opted driving from David Walley's Resort via Kingsbury Grade to Lake Tahoe then, enduring the slow traffic making a beeline for Red Hawk's Koto Buffett--waaaaaah~she is an amazing Road Warrior! We arrived just a few minutes before 6:00 PM . . . Koto Buffett was PACKED with a gazillion Peeps. Daughter ponies up to the Koto Reception thinking Sunday dinner will ONLY cost $25.00 each but, she was shockingly informed Sunday's Holiday MLK Dinner will cost $45.00 EACH!!!! Welp~Daughter looked at me while I said, "Uhhhhh~let's not eat here . . . " But, she retorted, "Nope--YOU'RE NOT COOKING!!!!" These guys were awesome! From the check in hostess to the waiters/waitresses! Such amazing customer service! I booked this restaurant for my son's birthday. It was easy and they were very accommodating. There were 64 of us and everyone had a great time! The food was good not great IMO. But some of our family really loved it. We came on a seafood buffet night. Definitely a wide variety to choose from! The lobster didn't seem all that fresh but the crab was sweet and delicious!
