It took SEVERAL times for them to get the measurements and even more set up appointments with no-shows and excuses. Hard to believe they have been in business locally for years.... My landlord used them but I would not have even if they were they cheapest in town.... Not to mention I know other people who have used them recently and their experience was horrid. read more

The worst business I have ever dealt with. I do not recommend Sloan. They are disorganized, do not show up for appointments for both installation and inspection. They do not answer the phone and IF you are lucky, you get a lame excuse for their failure to do the job hired via email. read more

I had accordion shutters installed by Sloan in my condo. No one told me water would seep underneath them. Caused severe flooding. About 5 gallons of water and still coming! u I had to continually mop so the water so it wouldn't go inside my condo. I called them back up and one of the associates told me he'd be over in a day or two to see if he could fix the problem. Not only didn't he call or come over, but when I called back to see where he was, he said he didn't think he could fix it and it was my floor problem! Sloan Hurricane Protection does not stand by their work. I'm in the process of having the shutters removed. Big waste of money. I also heard they were removed from Home Advisor website. I'm contacting a different company to close my balcony with hurricane glass. Sloan isn't getting anymore money from me. read more

I requested an appointment for a quote and the salesman showed up on time. He fully explained the accordion shutters and the installation. He showed me a sample and answered all my questions. He gave me a quote quickly. After agreeing and signing a contract everything went smoothly. All work was done professionally and on time. I had this company install 7 accordion shutters. Everything went quite well. The installation was professionally done. The installers were both competent and courteous. The delivery of the shutters took a little bit longer than expected but no real complaint on that issue. I would certainly recommend this company. I'm aware of some of these negative reviews but my experience with this company (from sales presentation to installation) has been quite good. read more

Do not bother. Just getting a estimate from this company has been a hassle. When I first called they were requiring that my wife be present for estimate or they would just pass. They then said they were having problems with that estimator that said that and would send someone else. They sent James he was 1 hour late and he and his office still haven't sent estimate after several calls. He came March 16 todays April 1 st. read more

Sloan HP installed hurricane shutters on my second floor condo after months of waiting and Hurricane Irma had passed. After installation, NO ONE told me water would leak under them. When it rains, I have to get on the balcony with a mop and bucket and mop up 5 to 6 GALLONS of water so that the water won't flood my condo. I'm on the second floor. Where was the water supposed to go?? I told Sloan what the problem was and they said they would call to come over and check for a possible remedy. This guy calls from Sloan and I told him I was supposed to leave the state for a while but couldn't because of this problem. He said he would contact me in a day or two to look at it. He said he would come over in a rain storm WHEN I WASN'T THERE and fix the rain problem?? What??! (The redicules excuses get better!) After about a week, he didn't call . I contacted he and he said the problem was my tilting floor on the balcony!! He never came over to see anything! And what does that have to do with the leak which the James Sloan said it would do anyway when I called and complained. WHERE DID THEY get and hire this guy?? After I gave them a rating of less than 1 star on Home Advisor, I got another call from Sloan HP AGAIN, on voice mail, to try to fix the problem. Really, are they going to have another worker talk to me like I have an IQ of 50? I'm gonna try sandbags to see if that helps if not I'll have to have the shutters torn down. I'll just close the balcony through a more reputible company! More wasted money! read more

If I could give this business a zero I would. We signed a contract with this company in April 2018 and were promised our hurricane screens by June 2018. This is when the problems started. The blame game began when they finally came in August. The screens did not fit because they structure was not measured properly. We were told it was the fault of a previously fired salesman. Not a customers issue. Then twice more with a bad fit. Again, had to be remade. Thank God it was a quiet hurricane season. Back in August my husband made a call to Mark Sloan ( owner) who could not have been ruder. Finally in January, 8 months after being promised they came. It's interesting that with there inability to meet there timeline they managed to get me a bill in less then 24 hrs. I was so upset by this that I called the office and had a fairly pleasant conversation with an office staff member. But I asked for a call from the owner. That never happened. My husband does the bills once a month. My husband and I were both called 2 weeks after the bill came looking for their money. I was so offended by the attitude and expressed that. Next thing the wife of the owner took the phone and screamed at me so aggressively. I owned a customer service for 7 years and never spoke to anyone in a tone even close to this. She told me I had 48 hrs to pay in full or she was calling a lawyer and putting a lien on my home. I called my own attorney who advised me to go pay the bill and get a release on the lien. I did this. When I got to the office she questioned why my check was pre-dated. I asked her to give me my paperwork and did not engage anymore. My advice don't ever use this company. They are not accountable and treat customers terribly. read more

I decided not to use Sloan for my accordian shutters and hesitated writing a negative review until I saw similar reviews on yelp. Dealing with their salesman Scott was a nightmare and, in the end, I felt very uncomfortable with this company because of him. I started by visiting their office and shop and was impressed. My biggest concern was not having shutters my new accordian shutters installed before a hurricane but was assured by the office manager Gretchen that their installers are available for side jobs and would be happy to install my steel shutters for a reasonable fee of $10 / panel ($240 total). I made an appointment with Scott but of course he was a NO SHOW. After wasting my time waiting I called, but he blamed the office for not putting it on his schedule. He forgot I made the appointment directly with him, that's how I had his number. We rescheduled and he came out, took measurements and promised a quote the next day. Several days later and numerous unreturned phone calls I finally reached him and asked about my quote. Once again he blamed the office. There were many other missteps along the way, but it would take a short novel to elaborate so let me cut to the chase. Before signing the contract, I asked Scott to confirm what Gretchen had told me regarding their installers installing my steel shutters in case of a hurricane. Now the story changed. Scott told me "they can do it but I WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1000 TO BE PUT ON A LIST TO GUARANTEE INSTALLATION, PLUS PAY $250 / HOUR (1 HOUR MIN) FOR 2 MEN TO INSTALL MY 24 PANELS. THE $1000 WAS NONREFUNDABLE EVEN IF THEY NEVER INSTALLED A SINGLE PANEL. WOW!!! That was the final straw. Found another company. My new shutters have more design features at a lower price.
