Expensive but fun! Our group of adults and kids aged 6, 7, 8, 9 all enjoyed it. Allow about 60-90 min for the typical visit. Be sure to look for coupon codes when buying your tickets: our order was initially going to be around $270 for 3 adults, 4 kids -- but we got $70 off through an online promo code. Entry includes a "build your own slime" bar - you get to pick out the type of slime feel you want, then pick the color and fragrance, and pick 3 plastic charms to take home. They have handwashing stations at the start and after the build-your-own-slime bar. The only things I didn't like about it were the smells could be very strong because the slimes are fragranced with different cool smells. Some of us were feeling a little bit headache-y or nauseous or weird by the end, probably from the smells. This place is probably a one-and-done for us. Fun but the smells were a bit overwhelming, and even after washing our hands, our hands still smelled very fragranced after we left, which was irritating for some of us. read more

How do I describe a place that charges over $30 per person for admission, but only has about 4 rooms? Well that's Sloomoo! I had heard mixed reviews so wasn't expecting much but even with that it was a let down. I planned 2-3 hours to be here, took us under 1 hour. Most of that time was spent making our slime. There are add ons but for our family it was $200 to go in we weren't about to add anything on. Things looked dirty, things were broken and it was showing its age. Just by the faded outside of the building/sign. Once institute they check you in and asks everyone to wash their hands at the tiniest sink I've ever seen. Then you sit down and listen to the rules. You make a name tag, get to add slime to a wall, then get to feel 6-7 cats of slime, do this silly computer thing that asks 1800 questions and tells you your slime buddies name (total waste of time and money on their part), now you stand behind glass and shoot slime at each other (our favorite but a quick thrill), then another room with the same slime textures, inside that room in a small musical room that was pretty cool, take a self with their logo, then make your own slime, after making your slime walk down a hall feeling the same slime textures again, then a gross wall where everything was brown from touching, now take off your shoes and walk in slime. That's it! That's everything. We felt we took our time but with washing hands to visiting their store we were done in under an hour. $16 per person to get in okay, $31 heck to the no, not worth it whatsoever. Took my 6 year old here for a fun out of town activity and wow! Very pleasantly surprised. This was a very interactive and fun experience for the slime obsessed. Staff is friendly, and there are multiple hand wash stations and wipe stations all throughout the experience which made us feel much better about hands being in slime etc. You get to go at your own pace, experience different versions of slime (I truly did not know there was that many ways to make slime), and lots of opportunity for slime play and interaction. There wasn't a long wait and even busy, we didn't feel it throughout our experience. And of course, the best part is you get to make your own slime and take it home which was so much fun. 5 Star Slime Show! Unbeatable Interactive Fun at Sloomoo Institute Wow! Sloomoo Institute is a 5 star experience that totally blew my mind. I like many assumed it would be a nice but fairly standard children's museum concept. Instead what I found was an entirely unique and cleverly designed attraction I've never seen before. From the moment you walk in the whole experience is interactive. Unlike places where you feel rushed or just observe Sloomoo encourages you to get hands on at your own pace. No pressure, plenty of time to fully immerse yourself in each exhibit and enjoy the sensory journey. But the real star of the show is the slime and it's nothing like you'd expect. Forget the generic mass produced slimes, Sloomoo's slimes are a sensory journey in themselves. I was blown away by the variety. Some were super wet and squishy, almost liquid like, and squelchy. Others were dry and stringy and completely different and just as interesting. Clearly a lot of thought and creativity went into these unique concoctions. And then there's the best bit, making your own custom slime. This is a great souvenir and a big part of the fun. Sloomoo Institute is truly one of a kind and innovative fun. It's a place that sparks curiosity and genuine joy and proves interactive experiences can be both clever and totally fun. Had the opportunity to visit Sloomoo while visiting family in town for the holidays. Firstly, I couldn't get the Groupon too work. So went ahead and paid. I noticed that the cost of admission shifts from day to day and hour to hour. For example, I priced out the day prior and it was cheaper. Figured I would grab Groupon before I entered as I wasn't quite sure of day and time we were going to go as you have to pick a time slot amd with Houston traffic I wasn't sure. When attempting to purchase Groupon, it wouldn't work, said deal was no longer avaible when I went to make payment. So I purchased tickets while at sloomoo counter and it jumped up by a few dollars. I paid because my nephew really wanted to experience it. Overall he had a great time but I feel as though the admission cost is not worth the experience. $46.99 for all. I think the price for children should be a bit higher than adults because they make the slime but it was all the same cost. I see why it wasn't too crowded, it's unaffordable. Overall my nephew enjoyed the experience of touching slime throughout the exhibit but it doesn't justify the cost to me. Btw thw store clerk said the manager doesn't honor Groupons sometimes and will make people pay again. I'm glad she told me that! read more

My nieces and nephew had the best time here. It was easy to make a reservation and get tickets online. We got there 10 minutes before our reservation time, and made sure all the waivers were signed. They ask you to watch a video before exploring and wash your hands. Before you go through the slimes, they have a fun activity where you change your vowels to "oo"s and the kids absolutely loved it. Before you explore the different rooms, they have you use hand sanitizer. The kids loved smelling the different textures of slime, and playing with the slime wall. There is a fun interactive screen where you can answer questions to figure out who your slime character is. They also have a slingshot where you can sling slime, and hit a glass. They have a fun interactive, dance room, kinetic sand, and another room to explore slime as well as make cards. We went during the holidays so we were able to make paper ornaments for a Christmas tree. The fun part came where the kids got to make their own slime by sniffing the smell wall and picking their own color. They also got to pick charms. I wasn't sure if my nieces were going to want to get slimed on, but when we were there one of my nieces wanted to. So we were able to pay for that feature and they were able to get suited up and get slimed on. They absolutely loved it . I wish I remembered the employees name that did the sliming, but we went on a Friday, December 13 at 11 AM. She was great, and my niece loved her. After we did the slime, we went to the sound room. At the end they were able to play and walk on slime for five minutes before we left. I felt like we were there for a while.. definitely over an hour and a half, and it was just so much fun. As a kid, I used to watch Nickelodeon. Slime was such a fun concept for children during those days and this place is no different. This is a cute, colorful, and unique experience for children of all ages. Adults will find it cool, too! It's located in the Marq-E Entertainment center. We paid about $188 for 4 of us total with tax. They have general admission tickets and the enhanced experience that includes a slime shower (no thanks lol). We got there right at open time, 10am. We've been to similar places like this in the Houston area, (The Color Factory, Seismique, The Dr. Seuss Experience, etc.) and it's pretty much the same story. Show your prepaid tickets, fill out a waiver on your phone, watch a safety video and start the self guided tour. A few things to be mindful of: you and your kids will get DIRTY so wear comfortable clothes and shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. You will also wash your hands often as you are doing tons of touching of different slimes that others will also touch. They also don't want you to mix the colors. You start filling out a name tag, and replacing the vowels in your name with "OO". For example, my name is Andrew, so my Sloomoo name is, Oodroow. Pretty cool. All of the slimes have unique colors, textures, and scents. They all smell really good. I will say that some of the exhibits are better for older kids like the slime slingshot for example. We got to a station that lets you create your own slime using Elmers glue. You can add different colors and scents. They give you coins and you dispense everything into a little plastic bowl. My oldest son was not a huge fan but my youngest loved it. So just keep in mind that this might not be for everyone. But overall, it's a lot of fun for a one time experience. The tour takes anywhere from an hour to 90 minutes. They have a gift shop at the end to buy souvenirs. Customer service was outstanding. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating. Parking was easy. Parking is plentiful and FREE at the Marq-E Entertainment Center.  My tips to make the most out of your trip: 1. Take your time! The flow moves one way so really enjoy all the different stations before moving to the next. We spent a little over two hours there, but you could be done a lot quicker depending on how fast your group is moving. 2. This is a fun family thing to do at least once, as it is a little pricey. I would, however, advise to skip the kitchen tour--that $15 extra per person can be better spent elsewhere. Why? You know how you can see inside a kitchen at some restaurants without having to go into the kitchen? That's how it was at Sloomoo. The doors to the "behind the scenes" access were open all around the main areas, so you could see what was going on back there minus the 5 minute tour. We all enjoyed seeing and feeling all the different textures of slime were available to experience and we liked making our own slime. We picked out a base based on texture preference, got to smell the different scents available before being able to commit to one, and finally chose a color for our slime. The only difference really between this experience and making slime at home is that I didn't have to clean anything up (dishes wise) when we were done. I don't know why pricing is affected by how busy it is, besides the law of supply and demand--so that's kind of lame, so I encourage you to check Groupon for discounted tickets. I was worried about it being crowded but there's a maximum of 21 ppl allowed in every 30 minutes so it flows nicely.There's about 7-8 stations and all are hands on. The entrance includes a slime jar that you can customize. You can choose the texture, color and scent. You also get the option of upgrading your ticket to get slimed. It's about $30.00 per person. The girls enjoyed it but I think we would've been good without doing it. We have done a few other experiences ( ice cream museum, balloon exhibit etc) and this is by far the best one. My toddler loves play-doh and with that also comes slime! Something about gooey sticky things that he could mold that he can't resist! Well crank that up like a billion times and put pops Sloomoo! Located next to the Marq-e, it's actually not that far from Houston. It was closer than I initially thought. First impressions were that it was way expensive!! To visit with a family of 3 (including 1 toddler) would've cost us $140! That's steep for a family outing and I'm sure not everyone can spend that kind of money. Welp, my toddler's classmate invited us, and I thought what the heck?! Let's let the kids have some fun! You buy timed tickets, but there's a little grace period if you run early/late. They make you wash your hands and then allow you to enter as a group. You watch an intro video and then create your Sloomoo name.. how?! We'll replace all the vowels in your name with "oo" and voila! Sloomoo = Slime! The first thing you come upon is bins and bins of slime!! You grab a chunk and hang it on a slime wall! You can create your slime side-kick and even sling slime so that it can hit your friends and fam behind the glass! There are billions of slime textures, smells and consistency! Just take the time and play/smell/touch them all! They have wipes throughout so you can wipe your hands and not mix the slimes together! It was actually a bit therapeutic for the adults as well! I didn't know there were so many ways to make slime! Some felt like rubber, some were stretchier than others and some just fluffed apart like clouds! The smells were also very interesting! The dragonfruit smelled nice! There were so many! There's a room full of kinetic sand and at the end of your experience, you can choose a slime of your own and mix in the color and scent of your choosing to take home! There's an area to step in slime and if you pay for the upgraded experience, you can throw on a raincoat/plastic bag and get slimed yourself! The gift shop is cool, with a bunch of slime mixtures you can purchase to take home and/or color changing glue, candy, and cute little foam stuffies! For my boys' 11th birthday - they chose experiences over a party...of course, I'm down with that! Up first was Sloomoo Institute and for me, it was interesting - for them it was nothing but slimey fun and that's what matters. For me - not so much: read on to learn why. I purchased tickets online and ahead of time to save $$ and I'm glad I did. Online (and a few hours in advance) the tickets were $25 per person for the basic experience (they do have add-on experiences like getting slimed and toppers for your slime/clay kit) and before a military discount. At the door, it would've cost us nearly $40 a ticket. Not to mention added costs. Yikes! Keep that in mind. Getting there was easy - we were a bit early and were able to go right in and get ready. It's a self-led experience with Sloomoo team members along the way to help you if needed. That was fun. They say to allow for about 90 minutes to go through and we did it in about that - closer to the two-hour mark. There was a plethora of slime. All kinds of smelly, scented, and textured slime -all of which you were there to play with. There were even a few immersive experiences and ASMR - as well as a brief lesson on how to make slime, how to clean it up, and how each one is created - including the incorporation of various sustainable items like recycled ground-up hangers and even cut up sponges. I enjoyed that part. What I didn't enjoy were the overbearing and very strong smells. Trust me when I say there were A LOT of differing scents permeating throughout the facility. If you're sensitive to smells, keep that in mind when you visit. Each ticket comes with a jar of slime to take home - including charms and scent/pigments. Note: Sloomoo is glue-based, uses Borax, and the pigments are intense (unsure of the process for those). They are messy, but overall very satisfying to handle. Reason for only 4 stars? Well... the experience just wasn't THAT great. We booked a late afternoon slot and still well within their open time. They still sell tickets for entry until 6:30pm, even though the facility closes at 6. You're given a 30-minute window to arrive, so the latest would be 7pm. One would expect to be able to still freely go through the exhibit, however, that's not the case... at least not for us. We were rushed through and our ticket was at 5:30, and we even arrived early! By about 6 o'clock, when we'd made it to the slime shower experience, the gentleman working was nothing short of unkind. He was rude, told my kids to hurry up and come experience the slime shower, and to leave the slime there on the open table for anyone to come and grab it. He said we were the last family to enter, however, the families behind us came as well and were not rushed, AT ALL and were able to move about at their own pace. Hopefully, the bad apple(s) won't spoil the experience for others and it was just a misunderstanding on the employees part. Overall, my children enjoyed the experience and that's who it was intended for, so I'm pleased. I'd still recommend the facility and am sure anyone who goes will enjoy it - especially if they're a slime-loving kiddo - alongside the shopping experience as you exit.
