I'm not quite sure if this business is supposed to feel more spa like, or more medical office like. I do know that I felt uncomfortable the moment that I walked in. Reception asked me to remove my shoes when I noticed a collection of shoes at the entrance. If you're going to practice this, please place a bench and a basket of medical socks or slippers at the entrance. Here is why this was a problem: I'm disabled and walk with a cane. MS prevents me from leaning up against a wall to kick off my shoes like an ordinary able-bodied person. It's bothersome because they have a wheelchair elevator access entrance, so I assumed they would be sensitive to disabled clients, but... I ask for a chair. When I enter the reception area there are three young ladies there waiting for services. Um...Why are they all wearing shoes? Why ask me to remove my shoes, and allow the others to clomp around in their Toms, high heels and sneakers? Now, I'm stressed. (I know, I'm a bit judgy) Small Redemption: My therapist, Amanda had amazingly strong hands. She did my bodywork and I knew that she was very skilled, however I did not walk away from my appointment feeling more relaxed. Sadly, quite the opposite. She kept getting so close to the trigger point that I needed work on. So close. Almost there. But never quite managed to touch the area of my neck and shoulders that was causing me the most distress. I asked her and directed her with gentle instruction: that's where it is! That's where my pain is. That's the spot. Sigh. I would still recommend her... she has a good touch and obvious care and knowledge of her craft. I was also happy that the fee was only $80. Would I return? Not likely...Conveniently located right outside of the seventh Avenue F train station, it is tempting... Going to explore other options and see if I find my spa-ah. read more

On a whim, I decided to book a same-day massage after taking a look at several of the Yelp reviews. I couldn't be more glad I did. I scooped up what I believe was one of the only appointments left this afternoon. As a newby, the receptionist just booked me with the massage therapist available - Capri. This is easily the best massage I have ever received. Capri took several minutes before my massage to allow me to explain the pain I was experiencing and what I was hoping to achieve. I'm not typically one that goes into massages hoping to fall asleep with a soft touch. I prefer really using an appointment as relief to tension. It was as if the stars aligned in my day by being booked with Capri. After discussing my goals of the session, he went to work. He took his time working on the areas that I had requested and for the first time, it actually felt like a massage therapist that knew what he was doing. Throughout the massage, I inquired about soreness I was experiencing and while he kept working, Capri explained why I was feeling this soreness and pain. Following the massage he took the time to show me various exercises that would be helpful to easing some of the pain. I don't get massages often - it's not something I love to spend money on. But this massage with Capri changed that. I booked four weeks out on the spot because I felt so much relief. I'll say it again - Capri provided me with the best massage I have EVER had. I come here about once a month for the acupuncture practitioners (Chelsea is amazing) and not the front desk service. The community acupuncture is a good deal and the practitioners are experienced where they really know what they're doing. The front desk is another story, I would say at least 50% of time the front desk either calls me last minute saying I have an appointment when I don't then try to charge a cancelation fee or they tell me to choose another date / time for an appointment that I booked in advance (this happens often). This is not a one time thing, it's been happened over the last couple of years consistently. But the if you can be patient with the front desk, then this place is worth it. read more

I love this place so much I've become a member, meaning I've committed up front to getting 12 massages over the course of 12 months. I did the same thing last year and used up all 12 massages in 7 or 8 months. I can't say enough good things about this establishment. It's tastefully done, has great masseuses, it's clean and I've never had a bad time here. This place is such a lovely hidden gem in Park Slope. It has such a tranquil atmosphere and amazing energy! I had acupuncture done by Melissa. She's great and gives off a great vibe. Did a very comprehensive intake for the first 30 minutes which is so important for holistic health. She was very knowledgeable as well. She was gentle with the needles and told me beforehand if one area was going to hurt a little more than another. Definitely appreciated that! This is the way Accupuncture is supposed to be! Before even arriving you are asked to fill out a very detailed intake and then discuss this with your provider at length before your treatment begins. Chelsea took a lot of care to explain the process and have a dynamic discussion with me about my overall health as well as the specific problem I went in for. The treatment was very individualized and effective. She made me feel very safe and was receptive to any of my concerns throughout. That isn't true. She did not try to keep me as a client. She sent me on my way and asked for my credit card to issue a refund. And not the most polite person either. Sounds like you need to rethink this whole practitioners calling out sick policy and how you plan to make it right with your clients. Because this is certainly a consistent problem with your business. There are other places more reliable. I remained loyal because i don't believe in cutting off relationships at the first sign of problems. This was not an easy decision on my part but a result of the accumulation of problems that have continued. You've done this many times before and after trying other places, I realize my money is better spent elsewhere. read more

I went to maro for a facial at 8.5 months pregnant. I felt so inspired and beautiful that I went back the next day for a back scrub. I have been to lots of places for facials but I really loved this one. It felt like I was being healed as well as being made more beautiful. Healthy organic clean ingredients in your facial. Went back three weeks after giving birth for a massage with sachiko and it was perfect. After the stress of labor and breastfeeding, this massage helped me relax for the first time. I had my first Slope Wellness experience yesterday and it was fantastic! I was greeted with a smile and immediately started to feel the calming/relaxing effects of the space. I had a massage with Kelsey and she was so wonderful. She focused on my requested area (my neck) and checked in about pressure and temperature. She diligently worked out the kinks in my neck and still managed to give me a very thorough and satisfying full body massage. It was just what I needed. Then she recommended a baking soda and epsom salt bath which I did as soon as I got home. I feel like a million bucks today. I can't wait to go back. I love Slope Wellness! I see Yuliya regularly for acupuncture (she is the best and a true healer) and usually Taylor for massage (she is great as well!). Kiana who works at the front desk is the loveliest. Their covid protocol is very good--air purifiers in all rooms, temp checks at the door, staff wears masks/face shields, etc--I feel very safe going there and have been going regularly for the last few months with no issues. They offer discounted prices for community acupuncture, accept insurance for some services and also accept HSA/HRA cards. Totally recommend them! Came here a total acupuncture newbie and now go every week. It makes me eerily calm and has other noticeable effects, from enhancing mobility to reducing inflammation. Lukas is pretty awesome and at this point probably has a better idea of my body/systems/cycles than all my "regular" doctors combined. If you're looking for neuropathy or nervous system issue relief, stress relief, PTSD support, etcetera, I very much recommend this practice. This place has changed my life. I was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia a year and a half ago and have suffered from constant migraines and acute facial pain. Last week I went for my first facial with Maro. My only regret is that I waited so long. This was much more than a facial. She uses only Laurel 100% organic products. The guasha facial is something I had never experienced before and it was magical. Maro is specially trained in different techniques not offered elsewhere in NYC, and is extremely passionate about providing the most positive experience for clients. I felt rejuvenated and renewed in a way I have not for many, many years. When I was finished, not only did I feel like a million bucks, but my skin looked and felt AMAZING! I absolutely love Slope Wellness. Their staff is incredibly professional, knowledgable, skilled and just plain NICE! They really make an effort to accommodate scheduling, and individual needs. I have been here for spa treatments and acupuncture and truly am a huge fan for both. Slope Wellness was my first experience with acupuncture and they have truly made me a believer in the treatment. My consultation for my initial visit was warm and incredibly thorough so that the treatments could be individualized and targeted. They are not pushy with herbs or other alternative medicine although they have a deep understanding of these items and are always willing to recommend a treatment if you are open to it. Their community acupuncture is never more than a couple of people and still manages to maintain a private and individualized experience if a private session is not an option for you, at $40 this is a great deal. The facility is a no frills spa environment with soothing noise machines and quiet music. Their massage therapists are amazing and their treatment rooms are great and complete with heated massage tables, dim candle light and quiet spa music. Their waiting area is spacious and offers tea or water while you wait and their no-shoes policy maintains a quiet and incredibly clean environment. I never feel rushed, always feel great when leaving and could not recommend this place any more!! read more

My partner took me here for the Valentine's Day couples massage. I should say that while I've had many massages in the past, they've usually been the neighborhood body work shop variety. Never bad, but never with quite the level of attention and consultation I'd like. Slope Wellness is a lovely, airy, clean space, and the front desk assistant was very warm, making us feel instantly welcome. We were able to put our coats into a closet off the hall and take our shoes off in the foyer so that we could immediately relax as we waited, and we had time to get some water/tea and look around. When we got into the massage room, we were greeted by Jenna and Marcus, both of whom were kind, attentive, and easy to talk to. They stressed our comfort as a priority, and gave us a chance to request any special attention we needed. I am a habitual long-distance swimmer, and swim up to 7 miles a week during the winter, so my rotator cuff definitely experiences the pain of over-use. I asked Marcus to pay special attention to this area, and it was well worth it. He applied some trigger point therapy and myofascial release to my shoulder/upper back area that relieved the pain and soreness instantly - I've done a few swims this week, and, four days out, my body is still feeling wonderful. Beyond that specific area, it was without a doubt the nicest massage I've ever gotten. My body felt pampered, handled with care and respect, and thoroughly relieved. I haven't seen Marcus' name on the staff list but I hope he will be at Slope Wellness again. I typically don't feel comfortable with male massage therapists, but he was lovely, gentle, and attentive. I can't speak yet for the rest of SW's services, but I am planning on being back to explore. Highly recommended! read more

Tranquil atmosphere, professional and knowledgable staff. A friend recommended this new Park Slope wellness center to me, as my upper back was in dire need of some attention (I have an injury in my cervical spine, so my upper back muscles get very tense). As soon as I stepped down into the open, spacious reception area I felt the tensions from the street begin to melt away. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and the space is beautiful, with all natural wood counters and floors and an open, inviting layout. After filling out a brief form about my needs, I was introduced to Eric, my massage therapist. Eric was attentive and respectful and put me immediately at ease. He asked if there were any particular areas that were bothering me and had me tell him exactly how much pressure I needed. He remembered that I had checked on the form that I get headaches, and asked if I was ok if he used some aromatherapy. Eric was gentle, yet applied enough firm pressure to loosen up my muscles, asking me several times during the massage if it was the right amount. The treatment room was impeccably clean and everything smelled brand new. After my hour massage, Eric, who is also an acupuncturist, gave me an assessment of my muscle tissue and offered advice for steps I could take at home. I emerged completely relaxed and energized, and as some time went by I realized I was free from the neck and upper back pain I'd been experiencing.
