An incredible let down on many levels. Experience was frustrating from start to end. Food menu is only available at the counter after waiting in line (only ONE menu available). Forces everyone to spend extra time at the counter looking at options. Ordering was difficult. Sizes listed on the menu board don't match what's in the computer. I was made to feel like I should already know this and it was my FAULT. Oir entire group struggled to figure out how to order different sizes of drinks. Chai was not hot and overly sweet. My croissant was dripping in butter and tasted at least one day old. Decor is nice and it's good to see an establishment like this in the neighborhood. However, execution, drink and food are lacking. ... Sorry. Had to add. Despite selling buttery pastries dripping in fat, no appropriate to-go bags or shells that would allow you to take leftovers home. :( read more

This place is everything you would ever dream of in a coffee shop! It's cozy, the music is great, the staff is super friendly, and it's a great place to work... Not only that, they have an outdoor patio that should be open soon, and eventually they'll have a DOG area where your furry friends can play! They also have beer and wine, so fun times for later on in the evenings and on weekends. I love everything about this place. Best coffee shop I've been to in Houston so far (and I've been to a lot). read more

The place is really cute. I wouldn't say I think their coffee is amazing but it's not bad. I would like to sit and hang out here but it's Coronavirus time. I can imagine this place is a good place to study and/or work in but unfortunately the only time I've been here is for to go because of Coronavirus. Love the decorations and the branding. read more

This place loves their sloths! The interior was well decorated. I've only had their wine which was not bad. Surprised there was only beer on their happy hour when they serve wine too! The patio has lights outside and plenty of room to sit. This neighborhood (Garden Oaks?) is growing and i'm happy to see more cool bars opening up. Very cool hip interior and really is a great place to hang out. Service was average. The woman who charged me said I was getting a lemon poppyseed muffin and there was zero lemon. Was just plain poppyseed muffin with a white chocolate (?) drizzle. It was also cold and hard, tasted very powdered. Might suggest they ask clients to warm their baked goods for a minute. Also ordered earl grey tea and that took longer to come out thank the puff mushroom pie and iced latte my friend ordered. Also. The tea was 4.50 for a mug, which is an insanely high price, however I did like the tea.. It was a strong tea with a dry after taste and reminded me of the tea in the milk tea they served in Causeway Hong Kong, just needed black & white evaporated milk for milk tea XD if they ever start serving that, I'll go back but otherwise wouldn't really return since I can get my loose leaf black tea fix at Path of Tea and lemon poppyseed muffins at Walmart. Don't be put off by the comments from others that this is in a sketchy part of town. It is not. The little shopping center it's in is just worn out, but Slowpokes is super nice inside. Great people, service. Would have five stars if not for the prices. Ham and brie croissant $8, 20 oz iced mocha $6. Delicious espresso and lattes on Thanksgiving morning! Both had great flavor and beautiful interior seating made for a great start to the morning. We had a western scrambler empanada that also hit the spot. The owner was there and talked about the offering, local beer and tasty bar food options. The outside is still under development with a dedicated space to a food truck (covered) and patio seating. There is also a kids area / park that will host outdoor movies (but no kids after 8pm). Great coffee, lots of seating, plenty of parking. The only negative is that the music is a little too loud for my studying but I can't complain much. It wasn't busy at all for a Sunday which I liked! They also have a cute area outside with picnic tables which would be perfect for a day with nice weather. read more

Overall a great place for coffee. The staff was friendly and they give 49 cent refills until noon. The coffee was $2 for a brewed coffee and the staff was polite and we are glad we came by. read more

Cool place. A bit too dark for me to study or work but it was quiet. I just came in for a latte with almond milk and it was quick and pretty good, smooth. The barista was very friendly. And I saw them make a few other drinks and their latte art is nice. Definitely will be back to try out other drinks and maybe the food. read more

Couldn't have been any better, all the way around. Believe all the five star ratings this place has been getting and the are still in soft opening stage. From the nicest people there to the incredible food and the yummy coffee, it was perfect. Had the oh one eight flatbed which is really the best pizza I ever had. Tons of tomato, cheese, spinach and bacon on just the right amount of bread. I am a really picky eater and we both couldn't believe how good this was. Very few people there but it was rather early. Can't wait to go back. Will have to force myself to try something different next time. We think this is the best place in the area, food wise and atmosphere wise even thou it is more of a coffee, beer and wine place. Limited menu but we were not disappointed. Love it. read more

I love slowpokes! I wish it was closer to my house. Great coffee and drinks. I am not a big coffee drinker but they have something that caters to everyone's tastes. Their beer and wine selection is excellent and warrants a evening visit, especially when their patio opens up. They even serve saki. Food is great as well. Order a cortado, best coffee drink there is. The espresso in it was excellent.

Food was good. Menu is small and somewhat overpriced. $3.25 for a Topo Chico? Really? You can get it for like $1.25, $2.50 should be the price. Food was good and I guess that's the majority of the importance of a restaurant. I probably won't voluntarily return unless when I ask my girlfriend where she wants to eat she actually says "Slowpokes" rather than "I don't know, wherever you want to eat." read more

I've been here probably 3 or 4 times now and every time has been a great experience. The coffee is good, the food is good, the vibe is good. It is a little on the pricey side, but willing to pay up a little for this place being right around the corner with everything you would want from your local coffee spot/hangout. Went with a client to this place just because it was nearby where we were. WHAT a great spot. Food (nibbles) waa just great! Service wonderful. Ambience was excellent.
