They've got wall projectors showing off beach scenes, the bar is the prow of a ship, and a ring of booths with thatch roofs surround the bar. The suspended ceiling sort of broke the vibe, but they'd worked to make it translucent and backlit. Overall, a cool pirate vibe. The service was great. We were there on Saturday at 2pm, shortly after they opened, and it was a single bartender...so his service was great. Drinks were interesting. They do a number of riffs on tiki drinks: their Morse code is a take on the classic three dots and a dash, they have two zombie riffs, they have a riff on the Painkiller. If you're looking for slavish adherence to the old recipes, this ain't your place. But they're not reinventions, and that's a very tiki thing. Some are misses - the black walnut bitters in the Pain Kill ARR made no sense, but the light rum and lack of honey in the Morse Code were bright and refreshing. Over the span of 150 minutes the two of us had seven drinks and three mixed shots. All well made, all generally good, no absolute home runs. Totally worth a return trip. It'll be fun to visit during a busier time.

The inside is completely decked out for Xmas, and its definitely something to see. At 6pm the place was already pretty full, no open tables (other than 1 that was "reserved"..more on this later..) and the bar was at least 2-deep all the way around. We had planned to eat and have a couple drinks, but with it all 8-10 "tables" (5 booths, 5 tiny round drink tables) already filled, we were left to stand and wait/hope to catch a seat or table from someone leaving. Luckily we were able to grab a small drink table that had 5 seats around it within 20 mins...must have been our lucky day, as many other people stood for at least 1-2 hours. The food looked good...but...you had to order from the bar, which had grown to 3-4 deep by 7pm...so we just opted for drinks. Bartenders were hustling all night, felt sorry for them, but I assume automatic 18% gratuity on every order ensures they aren't being cheated. Back to the "reserved" table....well...for the 2+ hours we were there the table that could have held 10+ people was never used. What a bad idea and a poor look for a crowded spot. Why not allow it to be used up until 15 min of the reservation time? Honestly, the place is just OK, cool to see the decoration, but WAAAAAAAAAY overhyped for what it is. Also of note, by 9pm there was a waiting line outside the place with at least 50-60 people waiting to get it. Plenty of other bars nearby where you can get exactly what this place has to offer...aside from the "hype" and decorations.

Honestly, 4 Kahunas Tiki Lounge right here in Arlington is right up there with the very best of them. The place just feels like an instant getaway. It's tucked back off the main drag but the second you walk in you're on some tropical island, no plane ticket required. The cocktails are legit. Super well-made, great balance, real tiki depth, none of that fake sweet garbage you sometimes get. Every drink we've had has been spot-on. Maggie working the bar is the real MVP though. She's quick, knows her stuff inside out, super friendly, and somehow makes the whole night feel personal. Whatever we ordered, she crushed it and kept the good vibes going. She's a huge reason we keep coming back. Only thing that would make it even better? A water feature. A little fountain, a trickling stream down some rocks, or even a small waterfall wall in the back would dial the ambiance up to 11 and really sell that full island escape feel. If you're anywhere in the DFW area and you're into tiki or just killer cocktails, you gotta check out 4 Kahunas. Small spot, super cozy, and easily one of the best tiki experiences in Texas. Already counting down to the next visit.

First, you should make a reservation on OpenTable. It is a small coffee shop venue in the Half Price Books so just coming without a reservation would not be advised unless you want to wait a long time or might not be able to be accommodated for a seating. We started with the Tiki Drinks of course. I love a sweet drink so i chose the Banana Alexandra. It is cacao rum and cream and banana. It also comes with a frozen chocolate covered banana. The Six Word Story was suggested as it is less sweet than the hurricane but the Hurricane is very popular. The Six Word was very citrus tasting but not super sweet but very tasty. Next we got the Lumpia. It was very crispy with a fantastic chili sauce. It was so good. Then we got the Bread and Butter because it is a bakery and need their bread. The Honey Butter was awesome and so was the bread. We went with the whole Branzino fish tacos and house made corn tortillas. What a visual treat. You have never seen such a presentation. The tacos were amazing. The crispy fish and sauce and cabbage was amazing. For dessert, we went OFF menu and got the Pistachio Tres Leche Cake with pistachio cream and strawberries. It was so amazing!! Always go off menu is my advice. We then selected some pastries to go and you MUST try the Vietnamese Coffee Brownie!! It didn't last long when i got home. You MUST come eat here it is amazing!!

It's a lovely little air conditioned break from the Texas heat of the Truck Yard.. Because it's all related, you can start a tab at any of the TY buildings and keep the tab going throughout the complex so even if you're with others not really into cocktails with Polynesian flair, make the rounds to fully experience all that TY complex has to offer. On the back side of the lounge, they have karaoke rooms and poker rooms for rent with bottle service available for your special events or just a fun night out... Service is always friendly and amazing and even though I've only been a couple times, I already have been made to feel like a welcome hoaloha..
