I just went online to look up Dr. Slutsky's practice, and I was surprised to find a negative review. I've studied orthodontics under Dr. Slutsky, and I have only the most positive things to say about him as both a clinician and as a professor. I'll be a licensed dentist in less than a year, and there are some truths I would offer from my own experience in the field: 1. If an individual can convey the concepts and intricacies of a subject (especially one as technically complex as orthodontics) as well as Dr. Slutsky does, you can be sure that he/she has mastered that subject. 2. All of dentistry is complicated, multi-factorial, and someimes unpredictable. This means that the dentist/orthodontist will need to adjust the course of some treatments in order to achieve the best possible results (you want this!). Good results can also only be expected in any case when there is good patient compliance (for ex., patients who use their retainers as directed after braces won't need to get braces again!). Dr. Slutsky taught us using his own cases, and I saw first-hand that in every case (even those in which optimal results were not possible), Dr. Slutsky always provided the BEST POSSIBLE CARE to his patients. 3. Negative outcomes happen in any and every practice, and many orthodontic patients cannot achieve "perfect teeth," for example without having surgery done on their jawbones (and many of such patients elect not to undergo the surgery, thus opting for a sub-optimal result for themselves). My point is this: I can say with confidence that any negative outcomes in Dr. Slutsky's practice were not due to any lack of skill, foresight, or compassion on his part. It only takes 30 minutes with Dr. Slutsky to know that he's not only a very intelligent and very technically talented clinician, but also a genuinely kind and caring man. When he goes over his cases in class, he talks about his patients like they are his own children he's taking care of. That is the kind of care you want in any type of doctor. As a side note, he also has a great sense of humor, which I always value! Bottom line: If you're reading the Yelp page for Harold Slutsky DMD, feel free to stop your search. You've already found one of the best orthodontists in the field, a genuinely good person, and one whom I will trust with my own children's teeth once I have kids! read more

Amazing orthodontist! Clean office, private individual rooms-not just one large room with a bunch of chairs lined up next to each other like other offices. Prompt appointments! If you have an appt at 4:00, you are seen within 5 minutes. Previous review mentioned a long wait?? I never had to wait AT ALL in the 2 years my son went there. They give points to the patients which they can cash in for prizes and run a "Guess how many candy is in the jar" game each month. In addition, one lucky patient a month wins a gift card or amazon tablet, etc. Very professional and friendly staff. They can't do enough to help. Follow up care is amazing as well. My son needed to get his retainer adjusted-NO PROBLEM! Any time (even 2 years later!), as many times as needed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I switched insurances and had go to a DIFFERENT office for my daughter's braces. What a huge mistake that was!! She had a problem with her retainer digging into her gum and they wanted me to pay $150 just to be seen again because it was over a year since she had her braces off. What?!? For a 5 minute appointment? Honestly, if I could do it over again, I would have just paid out of pocket and went to Dr Slutsky.... It would have been worth it! Highly recommend Dr Slutsky! Where do I begin? My ten year old daughter was hit by a car in September and broke her front tooth. She had a root canal and will eventually lose the tooth as it's fractured in her gums. Needless to say, this has been a rough few months. The tooth broke vertically and shifted her other teeth causing a gap and increased her overbite. Our periodontist recommended we see Dr. Slutsky to begin orthodontic work as soon as possible. Dr. Slutsky saw us the same day which was the day before Thanksgiving. He was kind and patient even as I have been a nervous wreck since this happened and blabbering on and on. He answered each of my questions and assured me that he would do his very best top correct my daughter's teeth. He has worked with her general dentist, periodontist and endodontist to create a plan of action to preserve this tooth for as long as possible while correcting her orthodontist issues at the same time. His staff has been just as wonderful. They have been kind and understanding as my daughter is now anxious around dental work. They take care and talk to her to make her feel comfortable as they perform the needed tasks. His office is a bit far from my home, but it's worth the drive for the level of care my daughter has received thus far. read more

My 3 children are close in age, so when my dentist said it was time for them to seek orthodontic treatment, I was both concerned about quality care and cost. I was recommended to several orthodontist and took my children for consultations. Dr. Harold Slutsky was by far the best choice. We were able to schedule appointments immediately. When we arrived for our first appointment we were greeted by the front desk with respect and kindness. Our wait time was minimal. Dr. Slutsky was very professional but at the same time explained the orthodontic process in terms we could understand. He made us feel comfortable and answered all of our questions. We weren't pressured to continue but I couldn't wait to begin working with him. The dental assistants are so warm and personable that each appointment feels like you're visiting a friend. Dr. Slutsky offers incentives for patients that aid in their treatment and gives them something fun to look forward to. As a parent I was always well informed and kept up to date with ongoing treatment. My children were made to feel they were valued as patients. My experience with Dr. Slutsky was certainly different from the one described above. I found him unassuming and kind throughout the planning process and think that he did an excellent job on my daughter. She came in with a severe underbite and was fairly self conscious about her appearance, but now her teeth are properly aligned and she feels substantially better about herself. His staff were welcoming and professional and clearly explained to both myself and my daughter the proper methods for brushing and flossing and what we had to do to keep treatment on course. While this might sound silly, I really am a sucker about the small things. While I get that it's a common business practice, I hate it when doctors leave you in the waiting room for long periods of time or double book you. In all of our visits to Dr. Slutsky's office, that never happened once. I cannot say this of any other doctor's office I have ever been to, but we were always taken on time. This place is like a well oiled machine. I've never had to wait more than 5mins in the waiting area before being called back. Appointments are never long, the longest is when my braces were put on and taken off and I thought that was fast. The ladies are so funny and friendly, each and everyone of them, the Doctor is always pleasant and professional, it's a relaxing atmosphere and the team makes it easy for you and less scary. I've had a great experience from day one. I've recommend this place to all my co-workers, friends and family. Financing was easy, visits were a breeze, checkin in systems is very cool. The game room/waiting area is a brilliant idea for kids, movies in the rooms is a plus. Dr. Slutsky is very professional, funny, experienced orthodontist. Thank you and all the ladies! Dr. Slutsky is a great place for your Orthodontic needs. Its a great office. From the friendly front desk staff to the attendants that makes every visit WONDERFUL! My son was a patient of Dr. Slutsky and recently had his braces removed. My son, wife and myself are all delighted with the results. From our initial consultation I found him to be knowledgable and willing to take the time to discuss treatment options. A trip to the orthodontist is usually not the highlight of a child's day, however, Dr. Slutsky always made our son feel at ease...my son also loved the contests and the chance to win prizes. Dr. Slutsky and his staff have always shown our family the utmost respect. I am really happy with Dr. Slutsky and his staff. My daughter's teeth were awful when she first went to his office, and she got teased at school for buck teeth and was upset about the way she looked. Dr. Slutsky from the first visit made her feel comfortable and we quickly had a lot of confidence in him. He was very honest and said it would take several years but that at the end it would look great. Some of her friends got Invisalign, and he said not to get it because it wouldn't do as good of a job in her case. When she got her braces off she looked amazing and was very, very happy. I can't say enough great things about him and his staff, from being really accommodating with appointments to just being really nice and friendly. Well super excited, today my braces came off and my teeth look super awesome. My experience with dr slutsky has been awesome, only one time i had a tiny problem at the office and it was addressed immediately. He is very concern and attentive with your care.. The staff super sweet and make you feel like you are family... Im sure am going to miss them all... My treatment took two years but it seamed like a couple of months... I always asked like questions about my treatment and received a response immediately... Love this office will recommend to everyone... Our family loves Dr. Slutsky. He did a great job on my oldest son's teeth, He was very knowledgeable. He did everything he could to avoid mouth surgery for my son that another dr. suggested. That made his treatment easier and made it easier for my son to comply.Dr. SLutsky made it a point to explain everything he was doing to my son's teeth so we could all understand what was actually going on in his mouth. Dr. Slutsky & staff are kind caring and genuine. They were very diligent with my case and helped me achieve the beautiful straight smile I desired. I came as a retreat since I did not wear my retainers as a kid. It was nice to see that much of the staff was still there and is a testament to how the company runs. My son was a patient of Dr Slutsky for approximately 3 years. This office is so professional, caring, and considerate. We traveled from south Philadelphia and every trip was worth it. I came in about a year before my wedding to straighten up my teeth ahead of the big day. Dr Slutsky and staff were extremely accommodating and knowledgeable. I had my braces put on in 6th grade, taken off 8th grade. I'm currently in 11th on my way to senior year. One of my biggest insecurity's is my jaw alignment due to the fact i lost my retainers but was never able to replace them.
