This was my spot when I thought I wanted to try the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. I was super excited to know they were opening up a restaurant here in Birmingham. I remember when the food truck was here and how crowded it was just to get a plant burger and fries. The hype is that real! For a sandwich that's not real beef, it tastes remarkably like the real thing without the guilt. My favs are the One Night Stand (think bacon cheeseburger) and the Hollywood Hooker ( think Philly cheesesteak). Fries come with each burger/sandwich...drinks do not. The slut dust (fry seasoning) is amazing and I have bought a container to use at home. This stuff is highly addictive! This place is an experience and I don't want to give too much away. You just have to see for yourself. Unfortunately...Over time, the food isn't as good as it once was. The burgers are sloppy now, and poorly made. They closed their doors for a few months and then a new owner stepped in and reopened it. I haven't been back in awhile due to the disappointment of my last meal. I will eventually return to see if things have improved. It's worth checking them out, whether you are about that vegan lifestyle or not. It's a whole experience!

Tonight I ordered Slutty Vegan. I was vegan for 5 years, so it's safe to say I know my vegan food pretty well. This was my third time trying this place. Today I ordered the Hollywood Hooker, which is a vegan philly cheesesteak. It came with a side of fries and I ordered a banana pudding for dessert. All the food was delicious. The hollywood hooker had lots of veggies and came on a fresh bun. The meat on it appeared to be chopped up beyond meat or something similar. It was not exactly the texture I was expecting. My fries were pretty good, though they had a little too much salt for my taste. The banana pudding was amazing. Most vanilla wafers are not vegan, and this one was topped with biscoff. It was out of this world delicious. My only critique is that it was a very small portion. I could've eaten a portion 3 times that size and still wanted more.

Slutty Vegan was cool. I'm glad that Birmingham has a location. I think a lot of the hype is around the branding - their name, menu items, and the antics, aside from being 100% vegan. Being aware of the original Atlanta store's reputation, I was excited to try it for the first time! Just in Magic City. The staff greets you with a loud Slutty welcome, and the music is blasting to where you hear it both inside and out, so I am honestly not sure half of what they said when we first arrived, but I know they said we were "in da building" and definitely called us sluts, lol. (My poor mother.) The interior decor matches the music - loud and bright. There's no real dining space, just a come & go setup. We ordered The Fussy Hussy which is like their plain/original burger with the usual toppings. We also got a set of regular fries and of the sweet potato fries. They were ok. Generous servings. I also had a soda - black cherry I believe. Your burger tends to get messy but is pretty large in size. They make them using the Hawaiian bread buns. I didn't have any desserts but the menu looked promising. The food is rather pricey. For 2 burgers, 2 French fries & 1 drink came up to more than $40. For me it was like having fast food that happens to be vegan. All in all that's just what it is - vegan fast food, but being black owned and plant based, I'mma stick beside it. It's also near the airport. At least check them out and give it a try! Especially if you haven't had vegan burgers before. Be ready to share where you're from as well as the slut shaming "What up sluts!"

Looking for a pick me up in the middle of the day, stop by Slutty Vegan. The vibe is upbeat. From the minute, you step in the door it is a party. The Slut greetings are fun. The music is great. It's just what you need to give you the umph to push through the rest of the day. The food was good. I ordered the Hollywood Hooker. All the sandwiches come with fries. I was pleasantly surprised by how fresh and well seasoned the fries were. Sometimes, a good burger comes with decent fries. These were really good. The Hollywood Hooker is their Philly. It was really good. There was a little spicy after taste. The spice wasn't overwhelming. It was just enough. I'll be back.

Have been twice. Food is pretty good, as long as it's eaten HOT, as soon as it's cooked lol. I always love the fries. The burger I had was the Sloppy Toppy, again good if hot. Any of the sandwiches should be eaten as soon as they are cooked, otherwise they kind of get a rubbery situation going on. The way you are greeted when you first come in can definitely catch you off guard for sure lol. My dad did not like it but you know. Inside is always nice and clean. It's a good place to go to, when you are changing your eating habits or just want a break from meat but still craving a burger. I think they could maybe taylor their greetings for the crowd they see coming in, as to not offend or scare off people.

But we'd spent the day at McWane Center and we were starving so we were there to EAT! The food looked gorgeous but it tasted very meh. The onion rings had too much breading on them, which I didn't think was possible, but here we are. The part of the breading next to the onion was mushy so that threw off the texture of the whole thing too. The burger was very much like a Whataburger. Even the lettuce smelled the same. I got The Standard and the bun of the burger was a little mushy (similar to Whataburger) and there was not much meat. For an $11 burger, I'm expecting more than a Whataburger. My middle kid likes everything on her burger and isn't picky at all and the loaded kid burger looked impressive but it was about the same as mine. Not awful, but not very good either. Very close to the same amount of meat. She's the queen of the Clean Plate Club and she only ate half. The fries were good but a somewhat too salty, the dip that came with the onion rings was excellent and we ended up using it for the fries. We had 2 adults and 3 kids and our meal was $63 before tip for 5 waters, 2 adult burgers, 2 kid burgers, a kid grilled cheese, and a basket of fries and onion rings (I thought I was ordering a "side" of fries, not realizing I actually ordered a basket and it was a lot of fries and onion rings). We don't mind spending money on good food, but the prices here don't align with what you get. No one was more disappointed than me, I've been wanting to eat here for FOREVER!!!

Also, these are the best fries I have had in Birmingham if you are looking for a plant-based option here. When I ordered, I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. She told me it would be right out, and my order was given to me within 5 minutes. Besides the great food, the ambience is the best part of this place! There is an upstairs area with additional seating, and the interior of the restaurant is covered with vintage, American decor. I'm unsure what the current cost is for the deck, but it's worth knowing if you're visiting during a busier time. I ordered the fish tacos with black beans and chose the cheese grits as my second side. Everything tasted fresh and had lots of flavor. The real star of the meal, though, was the sweet potato cake. It was incredibly moist and delicious. Honestly, I could've eaten four of them without shame or hesitation. My colleagues ordered burgers and fries. They both really enjoyed their burgers, but neither cared much for the fries. They had also requested a couple additional items after the food arrived, but those items never made it to the table. The decor is bright and fun, though it didn't quite seem to match the style of food being served. Just my personal observation. They also have a robot that helps deliver the food alongside the servers, which felt a little unexpected for the casual atmosphere and southern comfort food vibe. They were fairly busy since it was lunchtime on a Friday, but the wait really wasn't bad at all. Would I go back? Yes. Was it my absolute favorite? No. But there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially that sweet potato cake that nearly made me consider ordering dessert first next time.

The hot chicken sandwich itself wasn't overwhelmingly spicy, but it was finger-licking good -- juicy, well-seasoned, and satisfying down to the last crumb. We truly enjoyed every bite. The ambience with its bright green, purple and white colors added to the experience. The restaurant was lively and full of people, which is always a good sign. I also caught glimpses of other patrons' dishes, and everything coming out of the kitchen looked just as delicious as what we ordered.
