I ordered a set of tires for my car. before they started the work, I noticed a $68 for SMT RHP... charge when I asked Jonathan he said that is road side etc and since I am a regular customer I asked for a discount I was told he did which is removing the MST.. that I wasn't even informed about. Like when you purchase a tv and they add a $68 extended warranty without telling you. That is considered a SCAM. Jonathan was visibly upset and told me do you want to get them for free? This is out of line. I wonder what the consumer affair would say about this scam. I took my business to Costco I ordered much better tires . The set has 75000 miles warranty. Just sharing my experience (as a woman in her 70s) with the SLO Honda Dealership Service Dept vs SM Tire in AG. It's a reminder that the Honda service advisors are operating on commission. Monday I went to the dealership for an oil change. Before I left, Service Advisor Wil Anderson told me my Fit needed to have the brake fluid replaced "due to dirty and discolored fluid" ($267.76), the battery replaced "due to failed test" ($225.71 - Mr Anderson hinted that the battery issue might leave me stranded someplace.) and two tires replaced due to wear ($450.80). Final price = $944.27. I declined the dealer's recommendation for the additional items. Instead I went home and looked at the docs from when I purchased the car. I saw the battery was still covered under a 100 month limited warrantee - if I had it replaced Monday I should have gotten a credit of 40%). I saw from last year's dealership visit they recommended replacing the brake fluid for only $26.43 (1/10th of their current quote). Next, I went to SM Tire on Grand in AG. I asked them to check the brake fluid (it was fine) and the battery (passed the test with flying colors). I replaced two tires ($350.54). I saved $493.47 by not replacing my still good brake fluid and battery, and another $100 on new tires. Furthermore, the staff at SM Tire treated me with respect and honesty, showing me the actual tests run on the brake fluid and battery and assuring me no replacements were needed. I felt their evaluations of what my car needed could be totally trusted. No one was trying to get a commission upselling me items I did not need. I'll certainly return there as needed, and I pass on a recommendation for them as well. read more

My son and I showed up to the shop before 5pm (they close at 5:30). I told the person running the front that we are interested in new tires for the car. The man said let me just drop what I'm doing to help you. I said I thought that you were open until 5:30. He explained that in order to close at 5:30 he needs to prepare to close. He was very condescending and rude. I told him to forget it, and left. I have bought many tires and had work done there going back many years. I wouldn't care if I walked in at 5:25 a customer should not be treated like that. They just lost a customer. read more

I cannot recommend SM tire. I ordered run flat tires to replace my existing run flats and the wrong tires were ordered and installed. I had to make two trips to have the tires I requested installed. During the original installation of the wrong tires my rim was damaged, but management refused to acknowledge the damages. The front desk staff was very kind and I appreciate that however the manager was dismissive and unapologetic for their mixup, inconvenience and damage. A simple apology would have sufficed but even that was not offered. We will not trust SM Tires with our vehicles any longer read more

I got 4 new Good year tires from here within the last 2 months , one of the tires got major side wall bubbles after driving on it normally. They refuse refund or replacement after taking one look at it because they say it's due to tire not being inflated enough. My sensor didn't go off and multiple professionals I know (plus the tow truck driver who towed me) say the damage is from a malfunction in the tire. I've never had a tire blow before this but this company doesn't care for your safety! read more

I needed help getting my breaks completed at home on a Saturday. I called several places and only Santa Maria Tire answered the phone and listened to my need and invited me to to help right away. I needed my break rotors milled so that I could finish my project. They were polite, helpful and fast. In 20 min I was back and picking up my perfectly finished break rotors. This dealer is great on tires , tire rotation and helpful advice. But when it comes to alignment. Go some place else, either their machine is awful, or the tech does not know what he is doing. I paid $90 for a 4 wheel alignment, they did not adjust it properly and when across and down the street to another business and they took care of it, properly aligned it and gave me the before and after adjustment report. Is it a normal business practice to rip off your customers? We purchased brand name tires in August of 2012 and had to replace them 4 months later. The tires were put on incorrectly and were not aligned properly, causing the tires to become bald on one side, yet SM Tire is refusing to take responsibility. I''m surprised by some of the negative reviews. The folks at SM Tire in Arroyo Grande are straight up. Seven years ago I had an oil change down the street at Jiffy Lube. Well, I shouldn't say "oil change" because they never put oil in my truck. They destroyed the engine. I have come in to SM Tire ever since and couldn't be happier with the great customer service. Scott knows me by name. He knows a lot of his customers by name. I bought a set of 50,000 mile tires from him and with routine tire rotation I was able to get 70,000 miles out of them. It amazes me that people are complaining about a $20 charge to fix a flat or that the place is too busy. Isn't this a business and isn't the goal of a business to make money?! They were able to check out my tires over my lunch break, even though I called about 10:00 a.m. same day. I had a different shop patch a tire, but my low tire pressure light was on again a day later. Santa Maria Tire in AG is always too busy. I stopped by to get a flat fixed at 8:15 am on a Monday morning. The service writer claimed that there were four customers waiting at the door with flat tires at 8:00 am and I would have to wait until 1:00 pm. I went down to Wayne's tire and was on my way by 9:00 am. Wayne's was just as busy, and jumped right on fixing my tire. read more
