On today's adventure we found ourselves in the heart of Seguin at the "Schoolyard". This place is a wonderful place that has a little bit of everything including a stage for live music. But on this occasion I was looking for som macaroni and cheese, and to my good fortune they have "sMac'n Noodles". This place has become one of my favorites. But let's start from the beginning, the place is kinda in the back area if you're entering from the parking lot across the venue. You walk in and you get a menu and choose what you'll have and you have various options. I went on a Sunday and it wasn't to busy but there was only one person manning the restaurant, and he was on his game he kept up and delivered. But getting back to the food, I chose the "Buffalo Chicken and Ranch". This is why this place is special, the noodles the chicken the whole thing was absolutely amazing, my words don't give this place justice it was delicious. The flavor the texture of the ingredients and the very fact that there was only one person gives testament on how good this place. Stopped by on a whim and so happy we did. Not only are there suggestions to take but you have the option to build your own too. Super friendly and helpful, even recommended we come back to the area to visit another lunch spot. There is mostly outdoor seating but it's plenty big and there is enough shade and fans to keep you cool while you watch the huge tv screen. This place is great they have lots of different kinds of combos for flavoring your Mac and noodles with a special theme. I like the 90's decor and the service is really consistently kind and helpful. On a pretty day it's great to go and sit outside in the Seguin schoolyard. Located inside the Seguin Schoolyard complex, this little restaurant creates unique and yummy macaroni and cheese recipes. From custom macaroni & cheese bowls (build your own) to their popular bowls like Buffalo Mac & Cheese and Pizza Mac, customers are getting some of the best comfort food money can buy. The interior isn't too large, coolers with beverages, some snacks (chips), brownies, and cookies, and the counter where you place your order cafeteria style and pay. The decor is cute and a throwback to the 80s and adds to the comfort food aesthetic. The employees are very nice! No indoor seating but they have tables and chairs out front or you can choose to sit out in the large schoolyard patio areas. The bowls are scrumptious and filling! Two people can share a bowl and probably should. However, our leftovers will make for a great lunch. All fresh ingredients, noodles are properly cooked, the cheese sauces are thick and good. Neat little mac and cheese shop in Seguin's schoolyard retail / community space! The coupe who owns it is really nice, too. You can either build your own mac or order a tried and true recipe. They have gluten free noodles, different types of cheese sauces, including a vegan one, lots of vegetable toppings, spices and animal protein options. They also recently added salads to their menu, expanding it beyond just mac and cheese. Portions are huge! I'd give it 5 stars but there are a couple things which could be improved upon. The first is the protein options. None of them are vegan or vegetarian friendly. Which is a bummer because I would totally pay $1-3 extra for vegan chorizo, vegan sausage or even tofu or tempeh in my custom mac and cheese! I ask about it every time I visit but no luck yet. The other thing is seating. There's only seating outdoors and on a cold winter day or evening, it might not be possible to eat there at all. One has to order takeout or eat in their car. Which is fine but... not great. This could easily be resolved by providing a table and two chair inside, or by getting a heating lamp by the outdoor tables for those cold chilly nights! This is an elevated comfort food establishment....you're eating high-quality Mac, cheese, proteins and fixins'. If you don't like Mac n' Cheese or a very focused menu, don't come here! With that said, WELL WORTH THE TRIP!!!! Very surprised at the portion size. Can easily be for 2 people, but why would I do that? My family and I each had a different menu selection and my wife made her own. Everything was fantastic!! I like how they essentially heat/warm everything up and don't over-cook anything; noodles are also perfectly al dente which is a major for me. The young couple is super approachable and genuinely seem to appreciate their customers. The retro decor (80's/90's), which officially makes me old is very fun and the hidden wall ornaments are cool. Wow! What a great find. I love mac & cheese, and to find a place that dresses up that dish makes me all giddy. It is nestled back in a court-yard type area that houses many shops. The shop is small but full of flavor. The menu is plentiful and has fantastic choices. I was greeted promptly and warmly. I ordered the buffalo mac, and it was tasty. Had the opportunity to eat at this establishment on Saturday. The Schoolyard, where it is located, was having an event. I got the Tikka noodles off their menu. It was really, really good. A tiny bit pricey ($15.) for my bowl, but you get a lot. I could've definitely shared this with someone. You can choose from their menu or build your own bowl. I highly recommend you give it a try if you're into cheesy goodness!! The service was quick and they were very helpful with my choices. There is only to go or patio seating. I went in on a coworkers recommendation and was not disappointed! I order the Mac of the Month, Chicken Shawarma Mac. They mixed all the ingredients together in front of me and it looked like they heated the noodles up in a quick water bath. The noodles were perfectly al dente and a fun shape that holds the sauce well. It ended up being $23 for that plus a large topo Chico with tip, but enough Mac to last for 2 lunches. It was worth it as a treat! I might make it a cheaper lunch by bringing an apple or something to have on the side of a smaller Mac. I think I saw that you can order just Mac for $10. The service was great and speedy! Plus, I love the whol concept of having small businesses in the old classrooms at the school, and then sit in the nice courtyard to eat. Everybody talks about the bbq joint in Seguin but this is a sleeper nestled in an old school building. Small, local-owned with a large selection of add-ins: meats, veggies, spices, and sauces. (Vegan options too!!) I went pretty basic since my brain was imploding, and I was not disappointed. You can elevate the experience with spices or go basic (we all have that one friend or family member who doesn't stray), it's all tasty. No pressure to select anything, and the cook answered all of my questions--BTW you get a meal-size bowl!! Definitely paying a great price and it s not a side dish.
