I would say to definitely try GG's Corner Cafe in Marion. If you are thinking about it, just go! I wasn't sure how this restaurant would be but it greatly exceeded my expectations. Such a homey type of place. The chopped steak was great with the gravy and onions. I also got potato salad and green beans. The potato salad tasted like store bought but it went so well with this dish!! I have to admit I fully expected the green beans to be mushy like they are served at other restaurants of this type. But they were perfect!!! You also must try their desserts so just plan on that. I shared the Sawdust Pie with my husband. We have never heard of this pie but now we will never forget it. It is like German Chocolate Cake in a pie crust and the cake part removed. Definitely one of the best pies I have ever had. Next time I go, I will try to get a picture of it before we finish it off. My friend got the banana pudding and loved it. The service was great. The bill was more than reasonable! We will definitely be back!!!

So, it's was Friday night. Our night to go out and try something new or go somewhere we've been before. Surprise, we went somewhere new. And what a blessing. We drove down to Marion, Texas. Not too far, but it was worth the car ride. Gg's is a small hometown restaurant. The had Mexican and American food. The decor was pretty cool. The service were young adults, but they were on it. Great service. When you first walk in, you go by the counter, then past the dessert cooler. What a treat to see all those desserts as you go into the dining room, great or trap. Lol. The chicken fried chicken was moist. The crust could have used some more seasoning. The side were good. The chicken fried steak was the tender. The crust could have been seasoned better. I have a hard time reviewing chicken fried steaks, mainly cause I make a really good chicken fried steak. All in all, we are looking forward to going back to try the burgers.

Cutest little place with amazing staff. Everyone is so friendly and ensures you feel like home. They do homestyle cooking and I got the burger and fries and it was pretty good. My grandma LOVES the enchiladas here, i just wish it came with some beans on the side. However, they do serve a pretty large portion!

I just love this place. Tried a new side today. These should be on the menu as they are that good. Todays lunch hit the spot in this cooler weather.

Because what else are you going to eat when you're in a small town with home cooking? Delightful staff, very clean!

My husband discovered GG's a while back. Their food is always hot and fresh. We love the Friday's catfish or shrimp specials. The sides are always quite good. Todays was hot sauerkraut!? I'm not a sauerkraut kind of gal but I figured I'd give it a try and boy was it delicious ! Had a bit of bacon flavor and pepper that was a wonderful blend of flavors. I ordered a bulldog hamburger with the fixins . Juicy and great tasting. And the desserts are something else. I've tried the chocolate cake, and apple pie. My husband likes the banana pudding. Depending what day it is you may find different pies and cakes, but no matter which you choose it's always a winner. Nice s friendly staff, very attentive without being overbearing.

This is a great place for comfort food/homestyle cooking. It's clean and it's decked out with Texas decor - I dig that. The service was a little slow getting started with the menus and drink orders, but then things picked up. Grilled chicken breast was really good and not dry. The bacon cheeseburger was good but they charge extra for the cheese (.59) and the bacon ($1.49). The fries were good at first, but the more I ate, the more they started to taste like catfish. I suspect they're fried in the same oil as the catfish. I'm sure this is the norm at most places, but you could really taste it here. Despite the issue with the fries, I'm keeping this one on my "go to" list. The rest of the menu looks so good! Plenty of parking, easy to get in and out of.

I went to GGs Marion today to pick up 3 lunch plates and rwo appetizers! All of the food was EXCELLENT! Fried catfish, fried shrimp, chicken fried chicken, and all the sides! Their onion rings are AMAZING!!! BEST BELIEVE...I will be BACK!

When it comes to the food, I would not recommend as I can't find a positive thing to say. We were excited to try the "coffee flight" in which you are able to choose up to 4 different flavors. They got the flavors wrong and so we were given the matcha with strawberry cold foam, snicker doodle, cookie and cream, and Texan smore. The coffee was bland without much flavor and don't get excited as these come in 2oz jars and all for more than $10. We asked for a water cup and were handed a paper cup with coffee grinds floating in it and not to mention is it straight from the tap. We have two kids and seen they have an order of two strawberry waffles, again for over $10, and when they arrived at the table they could not be bigger than a large silver dollar. We adults ordered our own avocado toast and opted for the brisket. The brisket was originally frozen as we seen her scrap it from a pan, the "toast" is served with several mini pieces of bread, an avocado spread, and a sprinkle of pico. Again, not much flavor and the bread was very soggy. When at the counter I did try to order over easy eggs in which she replied,"I'm sorry we don't do eggs like that. They come already made, frozen". This order totaled over $50 and a lot of disappointment. The staff were friendly.

I parked under a tree & entered around the corner. Lots of pastry selections with coffee selections as well. I took my time as a lot looked yummy. I chose a savory pizza bread which had the choice of Pepperoni or just cheese. I chose the Pepperoni. Saw a Cruffin so I asked the clerk what it was filled with & she said Strawberry. Chose that & a featured Lavender VaLatte with Oat Milk. The clerk put the pastries on an aluminum tray lined with a wax paper sheet but I had her bag my Cruffin. She proceeded to make my Lavender Latte & I saw her pouring regular whole milk in the frother so I asked if that was Oatmilk & she stopped herself & said "No it's not. Sorry, I didn't write the order down" or something to that effect. I sat down by the one soda while she made my drink which was smooth & subtly lavender. The pizza bread didn't have a chewy bread texture and was soft. My friend arrived and ordered a large Americano, a Cruffin, Tart -pastel de nata & savory tomato/cheese pizza twist Danish pastry. She loved the pastel de nata as it reminded her of Portuguese tarts. We sat on the wooden tables with benched seating & chairs. The sofas are soft but one fabric chair had stains on it. There are other small tables & barstools with counter seating. Nice natural light flows in. Bathrooms were clean & additional seating was outside on a deck. I could see a nice party outside except the train runs across the street so that could be an issue as they blow their horns coming thru. They sell merch & preserved jellies & honey too.

When we pulled up, I immediately thought how cute and quaint the place looked. I loved the vibe of the area and it gave a really welcoming first impression from the outside. Once we stepped inside, though, the experience felt a little different. The person behind the counter didn't seem very engaging, and when my son was trying to decide what treat he wanted and asked a few questions about the items in the display case, the responses felt pretty minimal. It made the interaction feel a bit awkward, and I ended up skipping the bread I was considering because I didn't want to ask more questions. That said, the desserts themselves were good. The macarons were delicious, and the cheesecakes were pretty tasty as well. I'd be open to giving it another try in the future, as the bakery itself seems like it has a lot of potential.
