The employees are helpful and friendly. There is a lot of stuff in this store - so much that you can't get two carts in an aisle easily. The prices for many things are reasonably lower than a regular grocery store. I haven't compared the prices to the bigger box stores that have gas stations but the fact that you don't have to buy completely unreasonable quantities when you need to make a party is the reason I go here. I must have checked out at just the right time because I didn't have to wait in line for just one checkout person. Overall, I had a good experience here and would recommend it for large quantities of generic products at discounted prices. read more

Great store! Produce is FRESH here! They pretty much have all that you need from frozen, fresh to packaged. They have a beer, booze & spirit section. When I usually go to other stores, I have to bag the order myself, but she instantly started bagging everything without having me to ask. Checker Joann should not be serving customers as a checker. She is very rude and nasty. Went through her line a few times and every time there was an issue. When I made a comment about her not asking for my app to scan she was very mean and said well you didn't give it to me, that's my mistake but no need to be rude about it. I do like shopping at this store but Joann should not be a checker. Also why are the shopping carts on one side of the store? They are all on the exit side and none at the entrance, very inconvenient, especially for handicap people since the exit does not open from the outside. Camarillo Smart & Final Cashier's are the worse of the worse. They lack customer service skills, are rude, don't want to bag customers groceries, some of the cashiers are so slow that they tell customers to go to other registers. The worse ones is Joann whose customer skills are a 1 versus a 10. She overcharge me on two items and had the nerve to tell me that she had rang it up and so what!!! So I was in there with my wife and my two daughters day before yesterday 11/7/24 on the baking aisle, trying to get something for my daughter's birthday to bake a cake when a female employee which I got her last name, which is Villegas from an employee which I'm thankful for because she doesn't deserve to be working anywhere with customer service. So Miss.Villegas approach a young man physically assaulted him when he was doing absolutely nothing. He was shopping just like another customer and she caught him off guard and you can tell he was frightened and tried to leave as he tried, she continued to follow him with another male employee, threatening him as he's walking out. This was a very horrible and disgusting thing for my daughters and any other family to witness. When I spoke to management they seem to take it as a joke . This is no laughing matter and will be making sure this isn't forgotten. Definitely spreading the word about the staff and this location. read more

I'm standing here with four items. They don't have an express lane anymore I guess. Three lanes open. I walk up to one and reach out to put my items down the cashier walks out, places a closed sign right in front of my hands and walks back. Gentleman queuing behind me had one item. No apologies, no hey I'll close after you two come on through, no call for another cashier. Nothing. Other customer and I go stand in the other two lanes behind people with full carts. No one calls for another checker. As I leave I look behind me. Both lines are now backed up into shopping aisles, with carts FULL. This is a nice clean Smart and Final. The produce section is large and fresher than most places around which is funny since most of it grown locally.. The store is clean and the clerks were very friendly. I love Smart & Final this is the spot to pick up last minute supplies in bulk for a party or gathering you're going to throw or if your a preper you can stock up here They also have great cooking pans and utensils here. The couple of times I've come here, I just pick up what I need and am out the door on my way in less than 20 minutes. Desi is so rude! The customers ahead of me were asking about their change, in a low quiet toned voice. She saw it say $18 charge and the lady said in a snarky way that it is actually $19 and that is when tax is added. Yes it is tax added but you did not have to be rude to these elder ladies. They weren't complaining, they even giggled to themselves saying sorry they couldn't see. This lady is a service manager or sort, but SHE WAS RUDE. She looked at me and Knew she was in the wrong. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Since the remodel I need to become reacquainted with some items but it's not too bad. One product I always bought was Farmer John brand chorizo...it's gone now I'm very upset bc I can't find it anywhere at any other market in Camarillo either! I even went to far as to spread the word to friends and family about how I believed it was the superior chorizo on the market! It is better than all the other brands hands down! Better spices, better texture, ultimately resulting in better flavor! I don't know why they would stop carrying it altogether unless there is some political shelf war going on behind the scenes? Beware: on an exceptionally busy day for me, I took an hour to shop online, and schedule delivery for a few hours later. I received a call from Instacart an hour after I placed the order saying that they would have to deliver the next day. Unacceptable! Fast and easy! The store is smaller than other grocery stores but has everything you need. I am in and out quickly, which is important to me. It's always clean and organized. Cashiers are super friendly and it's always nice chatting with them. Since the pandemic, the one line works out well with the monitor displaying the next available cashier. If the line is long, managers will always call for more available cashiers. Management and associates seem to care about the quality of the store and it shows. read more

The store actually looked nice, too bad because I will never go there again. I needed to pay a bill online and for some ridiculous reason they would only accept MasterCard, I have a Visa. So, I stopped in to Smart & Final, in Camarillo, and purchased 2 pre-paid MasterCard's, so I could pay my online bill. Later that evening I tried to use the two cards but they did not work. I went back to Smart & Final and the Assistant Manager was called and she proceeded to tell me that I had not purchased the cards at this store. She seemed unconcerned about the fact that I had the receipt for them. At this point I asked to speak to the store manager so she went back to get him. The two of them came back out and the manager, with a smirk on his face like I was trying to put something over on him, said he would not refund my money or even contact the card company to straighten things out. I left there completely shocked. I had never been treated this badly by a merchant in my life. I went home and contacted the card company myself. They made me fill out a form and send it to them with a copy of my receipt and 24 hours later my funds were available. Thinking back I remember the Assistant pointing to the cards and saying that the ones they sold didn't look like these and her boss smiled and nodded at her. Unbelievable! read more

Every time I go into this store I say, "I will never come back". Two check stands open, one is 10 or less items and the other is an inexperienced person. Lines are long and no one is calling for help. I asked the checker if she could call someone and someone shows up. They don't have the training or sense to call someone on their own. A assistance manager walks buy and I expressed my concerns. He proceeded to speak to me like I was a 4th grader and said, someone came when they called for help. I said, I had to tell the checker.....This store needs countless hours of training ...NOTE TO MANAGER: DON'T EVER SAY TO SOMEONE HAVE A NICE DAY WHEN YOU HAVE CAUSED THEIR STRESS!
