I no longer feel safe shopping at this store. I frequent this location because it's the closest one to me. Now, if you read my prior review you can get an idea of the type of people who hang around this store... Today I went to go grab a few items when this weird, older guy who seemed to be on drugs, approached me and started harassing me and following me around the entire store. I could not find a single employee on the floor and there was NO security guard. I felt very unsafe and had to call someone to rush over to the store and help me comfortably leave without this weirdo following me to my car. If you are a young woman..please don't shop here by yourself. Management really needs to step up and keep these weirdos away and make sure there is always security around. read more

This is totally unacceptable! So much for "veg fresh!" It's incredibly inconsiderate and inconvenient to still be selling foods that are already growing mold during this time of the pandemic. If it wasn't for COVID, I would've came back and bought a different set of tomatoes that wasn't in this kind packaging. But because of the COVID, I'd like to limit myself from going to places to protect myself and others. This experience made me realized that this kind of packaging is meant to deceive you. You can only see how clean and firm one side of the tomatoes but you can't see what's on the other side. Which is nasty mold. read more

I just left this place getting some last minute groceries for the week. I love the employees here most of the time. There is sometimes rushes that hit the store and I get that, but they do the best they can. Tonight was no different. The lines weren't too long but there was a few people in each line. The manager in charge walked up front and told the cashier she was taking over for her lunch. This cashier (receipt says Kearintheang but name tags said Kearin) was ringing up the person in front of me. That customer in front of me started yelling at the manager telling her that as long as customers are still in the store, lunches and breaks need to wait. The manger (name tag said Rebecca) explained law requires lunch and they have already pushed the lunch back as far as possible. As she's paying the customer starts screaming at these poor girls. They were so professional as they stood there just taking it. But that's just not right. I told the customer to let them do their job (at this point I just want to go home) and she still gets belligerent. Security even had to step in. Finally she starts leaving, while still yelling, and these girls ring me up. I assure them they are doing a great job, and my husband tells them too. The lady is then screaming in the parking lot not to shop in the store because the employees don't care about their customers and only want a lunch. These girls were just being nice despite what they were being called and neither let it phase them as they rung me up. These employees put up a lot through the pandemic and still are hanging in there. Good job girls for still being there! Hadn't been to this location for a bit. Quick in and out, they had everything that I went in for. I like their brand, First Street, it's quality food and you save money. Always a good selection. Veggies are always in good condition. They have good sales every now and then. They carry more vegan food options lately and that's exciting. I hope they sell more vegan food in the future. Update: this store has gone down hill at fast speed. The "security" officers are always just leaning against the wall having funny conversations with the cashiers, while the store is getting ripped off by tweakers. I am feeling pretty unsafe to shop at night. And they don't even watch over the parking lot. I get there's not much you can do when thieves are eating the food on the floor, or running out the door but the employees and security should at least act like they care. It sets a negative image that this store doesn't care about much of anything including paying customers. read more

My wife purchased pork ribs the other day for a cookout tonight. I opened the package this morning and all I smelled was the order of rotten eggs. I checked the package date and it said sell by 8/24. She purchased them that day, brought them home and they've been in the fridge since then. Today was the day to marinate them. My mother and I frequent Smart and Finals around town so we thought we'd try this one out today for the first time. It's a little closer to our house than the one on West Shaw (that we love) and it's fairly new so why not. The store itself was clean and well stocked, we were happy with our visit until we got to the register. The cashier was new, it was obvious but we were very patient with her even going as far as to help her name the vegetables she didn't recognize so that she could find the code for them in her produce book. Then we got to the chiles. We told her it was a yellow chile and she went on to enter three wrong codes for it because she couldn't find it, all of which were much more than the actual price of the chiles. Eventually, her manager (who was standing right next to her the whole time mind you) helped her find the right code. All throughout this we were still understanding however, all of the previous chile prices were still on the screen so my mother asked her if those were voided and she curtly said they were. She then proceeded to toss our bagged eggs down. We were shocked and apparently so was her manager because she walked away and in passing told my mother not to worry about it because she would "handle it" whatever that meant. I honestly don't know where the hostility came from: the question, stress, embarrassment because of needing help? I don't know but it was uncalled for. I work in customer service so I know that you thank you're lucky stars when you encounter a customer who's patient with you as you learn. Cashier lady finished checking us out and tried to buddy up to us to save herself but the damage had been done. We won't be coming back. TL;DR: Don't visit unless you want to put up with moody cashiers. read more

A woman cashier blamed my Hispanic cousin of stealing an ice cream when we clear we walked in with it. Instead of asking while we paid for the water we grabbed, she let us walk out to the car and proceeded to send someone out for us. We go back in with the merchandise since we did nothing wrong. She then blames us of stealing and tells us "not to come back." I truly hope this lady knows how stupid she made us feel after we did NOTHING. Lady deserves to be fired for discrimination! read more

Great store. Every time I walk in this store, I feel somebody wants to help me. Even if I'm going in for bread, I get a simple "can I help you?" Produce section is beautiful. Organic section! Occasionally there is lines at register, but they always call back up and the wait seems non existent then. Not your average Smart & Final. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place, I love it here. From sales on bottled water to bulk gum packs I get everything here. I am a supervisor at my security company and we often need things for our sites and this place always has what I need. I have never gotten a bad cashier and the service is always very efficient even when it is very busy. I went in the first day they opened and it was so very busy however it still didn't take long to get what I needed and get out. I read a previous review on bad service and I would like to say that one bad experience should never make a customer feel they need to hold everyone as responsible for that one interaction. Most of the bad apples get weeded out not too long after it is discovered. We miss out on great savings and awesome stores by not giving an extra chance once in a while. That being said, I will always give my business to this and all other smart and finals here in Fresno. Thank you, Smart & Final for having what I need right when I need it! read more

We were pretty disappointed when the Savemart closed as there isn't a lot of options for grocery shopping in this area. We avoided coming here thinking it was a regular Smart and Final but finally had to stop in today. Boy were we impressed! The whole place was so clean it practically sparked which is extremely difficult to maintain in this part of town. The layout was beautiful and well-organized, they had a large selection of items and a HUGE liquor section. And their prices were low as expected. We also checked out the restrooms and they were equally clean and impressive, and open to just walk in! Extremely surprising for this area, the Walgreens across the street has to buzz you in and has large "Customers Only" signs. This store has a security guard on premises watching those coming in, though, so they probably keep the potential restroom abusers from even making it through the door. They are obviously doing something right because the interior is so well-kept! Will definitely be back! read more
