Gave me a fake $20 dollar bill as change, only found out because I tried to use the bill at another store later that day. Obviously had already thrown the receipt away. Went in to tell them today and instead of apologizing they gave me a horrible attitude. Why would I be lying about a counterfeit $20 bill, regardless of the amount, I'm sure nobody likes being bamboozled out of any amount of money especially coming from a STORE. Said I should have walked in the same day if I knew it was fake with receipt? Like what? Like hello? I shouldn't be the one doing your job of making sure it's real or not to give back to customers as their change. Two hours before closing, they wouldn't allow me to use the restroom. I had a basket full of groceries. I asked twice to use the restroom. They said that it was no longer available that night. I shop here all the time and I love it I'm just giving 4 stars now because there's this young girl named Jennifer who works here and I think she needs to be trained all over again. She seems to ask for help ALOT at the register 1. I was stuck in line the other day for longer than I should have all because she wont stop staring at whatever her coworkers are doing. I am not the only one complaining, everyone in line was noticing and upset. I don't know if she likes them or hates them but whatever it is, it's distracting her or making her work very slow and then she ends up having to call for help. This isn't me hating, it's just simply constructive criticism, and I hope it gets better! read more

I have been shopping S&F for some time. I typically go to the Stockton location which is very nice and clean. I decided to go to Lodi yesterday as it was more convenient at the time. I instantly regretted it. Should have never even stepped foot inside given the conditions of the outside. Cart area was absolutely disgusting. Went inside and was immediately greeted by a foul odor (not something you want when shopping for food). I proceeded with my shopping while continuously taking note of how poor the store is kept. Last straw was when my child had to use the bathroom. I was appalled when we opened the bathroom door and was blasted with the smell of urine and garbage. Not surprising seeing has the floor was covered in urine and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time (GROSS)!!! That was it. Closed the door, pushed my cart to the side and left. Will NEVER return! Such a waste of time and a big turn off. So disgusting. Get it together!!!!! read more

they advertise one thing but when you get there they change the rules. They are always out of things, and when you go back to see if the product is in yet the amount you can buy is changed again. It should be against the law to advertise something and then change things three times in the same morning. read more

Twice I went here and had Rachael check us out. The first time she was sick, so I cut her and her horrible customer service some slack until she asked me about 3 times to please call her manager and complain that a sick person with snot and boogers all over was checking us out and that it was disgusting. Having a sick person check our groceries wasn't my idea of a great time either. I probably would've complained to management for her but she was just rude. Second time was a few days ago... she told an old man "if you choose to not put that in a bag and you drop it I ain't cleaning it up". Like really? It's your job. Then when it was our turn she commented "that's diabetes you're buying!" Wait what? No it was treats for my sons class for his birthday but even if I was buying it all for home who are you to comment. She didn't say hi, how are you or anything. Just made the comments about diabetes and tried to stack the boxes into a tower. When we got the receipt she slammed the boxes down for my son to grab. Like you're getting paid to do your JOB which I assume includes good customer service, try and provide some. S&F lost us as a customer but I'm sure no skin off their backs. read more

Went into store w/o masks because I have a little trouble breathing in one. My husband and I were immediately yelled at by store employees. We calmly refused and tried to walk on and they continued to yell from their position at the register. I was about to tell my husband we should leave, when they offered for us to speak to their manager to which we responded that'll be fine. My plan was to calmly state why I didn't want to wear a mask. Next thing I know I have this employee telling me I have to wear a mask. He didn't introduce himself to let us know that he's the store manager or not, he just laid into us. They can have a store policy w/o being so extraordinarily rude about it. At the very least this is a customer service issue. The Lodi location is horrible, now I remember why I stopped going here. It was close and I only needed bread and butter. Looked at the Challenge butter and Land o Lake, they were expired, one was 1 month expired. One was almost near expiration date. Had to dig to the back to find a decent date. Get to the register and the guy checking us out didn't even acknowledge us, he was too busy talking to the cashier next to him. That is rude. He didn't even say thank you when he handed me my receipt. They really need to get a new manager and run this store better. I've been to other Smart and Finals and never had the problems like I've seen at the Lodi store. read more

I love this store....I really really do! It's such a great place to go when you need to plan a party. Or make jello shots for a party. Or buy random items in bulk. It makes party planning so much easier if you shop here. They also have pretty decent deals on alcohol. And, it's the only place in Lodi that I have found that sells containers for salsa.....or jello shots...with lids. Oh how I like when things are sanitary. Jello shots with lids are a must when planning a party. My only negative about this store is that if you arrive at the busy times, you will have to wait in line. They only have one or two cashiers that will help you. So, just know if you go during busy times (aka after people get off work), you might have to wait a little bit. But the prices are worth it and the staff are very nice. read more

Went to this location on May 20 2021 and was mortified by the filth rotten food open potato chips on the floor and the condition of the store as a customer who used to shop here on a regular basis I was absolutely appalled, disgusted and I am afraid for the public the reason why I say so is anybody who is a manager who has had to take the manager food course knows how bacteria grows and by not checking dates leaving spoiled food out is a big No-No the health department needs to and will be called the store needs new managers and it needs corporate to come in isolutely disgusting when 90% of your vegetables are rotten the store is lucky I didn't take pictures of every single thing I could not purchase any produce tomatoes, onions, fruit between the mold and the fruit flies it was absolutely disgusting the smell alone you can only tell that half of it or maybe close to all of it was completely molding and rotten I guarantee you somebody goes there today you're going to find it today cuz it was just yesterday that I was there I highly doubt that anybody overnight decided to clean this filthy disgusting store since I was there yesterday I highly recommend if you don't believe me go check it out and besides me somebody needs to complain about the store because this is going to make the public sick and as an owner of a business that frightens me I could never imagine doing such a thing I am held with great responsibility and not making the public sick and these big box markets have the same responsibility they need to share that and take ownership you get managers who don't seem to give a rats behind read more

I had heard a radio ad about S&F and wanted to check it out. I drove all the way from Tracy to Lodi to this store to do a major shop and find some great deals; didn't happen. What a waste of time. The store is very small with a limited amount of fresh produce. I went down most of the isles comparing prices to our go to places like WInco Foods, Safeway, and Walmart. The selections are like random odds and ends throughout the store with no major deals on anything really. I found the prices to be much higher than all three of my go to stores. For example yellow onions, $0.49/lb at most stores, but $0.99/lb here. I decided to pick up some soda and go back to Tracy and Winco Foods to do my major shop instead of S&F. The selection and competitive prices just weren't there in my opinion. Sorry. read more

You can't get everything you need at S&F, but their prices are worth a special trip. They don't have all the produce you may want/need but what they do have is fresh and less expensive that going to other grocery stores. Also, check out their dried spices! They are a fraction of what you would pay at other stores. That alone made my stop in worth it! read more

Two times I had purchased Ground Hamburger and eggs from this store, in this past month to be exact. Every single time I have had experiences with rotten eggs and spoiled hamburger meat! I tried to make complaints personally and they, both times, rejected my requests, saying that "It isn't our problem". They were rude and disrespectful including the daytime manager on Monday of this week! The two items were a huge plastic Morans ground meat 20 LBS pack And the eggs were in A First Street 2 1/2 flat large! As soon as we brought it home, we put the meat in the freezer and eggs in the fridge, we had it for three days and my wife took it out to separate the meat and found it smelled grotesque. My wife and my daughter made egg sandwiches and became violently ill and had to be taken to the doctor and found they both had food poisoning. I spoke with the manager and told him all this, and even though we HAD A Receipt, he said he couldn't help us. We will be taking this to the BBB, FDA and the local newspaper and have them take this up further!
