For a company worth many millions of dollars, you would think they could afford "asset protection" services to protect the store from theft. Also, you would think they would hire a manager that understands that when you shut the entrance to the store down, they would put the sign stating such outside the door and not inside the the "lobby" of the store forcing patrons walking to the entrance to walk all the way across the front of the store to the exit, in the Antelope valley heat, then forcing them to walk across the front of the check out stations back to the entrance to gain access to the store to shop. Then there are the lines. The lines were so long at the TWO open check stands that we decided to just leave. Your inconsiderate treatment of the customers because of the lame security measures in ridiculous and we'll just stop shopping there. GOOD LUCK! read more

It's amazing in the mist of a pandemic how many low reviews this store is getting. First nobody wants a job! Second everyone that dose work is getting sick, shot or no shot. Third Smart and Finally just like every other store has no control of what's coming in, and just like every other store yes has empty shelves but so dose every market. Smart and final is always clean, always nice staff, always stocking what they do get, even in the middle of the day, that's annoying but I get it. I wanted to recognize Jose In the frozen section he is very respectful very nice and when he works I really feel his energy I was in there the other day I asked him for some help he stopped what he was doing and that specific item wasn't on the shelf so he said let me check in the back for you and literally took him 6 to 10 minutes to look for that specific item for me and he found it and I told him thank you because previously I had asked the other employee in the same thing and that employee told me right away if it wasn't on the shelf they don't have it but Jose took his time and found it for me if anyone ever needs help ask for Jose he is in the Frozen department I will sure be back because of him read more

I love this store it's very clean and organized. The products look fresh and it's a nice atmosphere to shop for food. There isn't much help if you have questions but it's still okay if your not the kind to ask any. The only complaint I would have is that the lines can be too long and they don't have enough cashiers. If they put at least 2 more people on the floor and they could do register that would be helpful to us customers. Sometimes the cashiers look overwhelmed since they don't have backup. read more

Great customer service, I called this morning to check if a sale item was in stock, I spoke to Yesenia and she told me that the item wasn't in stock but was expecting a load and it would probably be in today. She took my name and number and said she would call me if the item came in. Well after a couple hours she called to tell me that the item wasn't in but would probably be in on Tuesday and she would put the items on hold for me when they come in. It's hard to find great customer service nowadays and Yesenia went out of her way plus I didn't waste my time and gas going to the store. Thanks again Yesenia. read more

You never know what the store will have, warehouse, and do not carry all things that normal stores carry. A few years ago, Costco stopped carrying 16 or 20 oz. paper coffee cups, except in a package of 50 with lids. I like having lids, but only need them 1 out of 5 or 10 times I used a cup, so I ended up throwing out a lot of lids-- even recycling very wasteful and I was paying the same for 50 as 120 or 160 w/o lids. So, figured I'd try Smart and Final-- it'd been almost 10 years since I'd tried them, figured what the heck-- plus the,Palmdale store was an 'Extra' which means they had more traditional groceries, not just restaurant supplies, maybe I could save a stop? It was nice being able to get shaving cream, ground turkey and peanuts all at one stop, but it really was inferior to a supermarket as to groceries-- prices, save 1 item, were in line or even higher then a Stater Brothers and the expiration dates on the meats were just a day or 2 away. And the bulk paper goods that instigated my visit were no great shakes--quality or price--- either; coffee cups-- I paid about the same foe 50 without the lid as the pack with lids were at Costco- plus Costco were better cups, plates and towels-- Much better plates at the same price for 1/2 or 1/3rd the quantity. Place did seemed clean and employees were friendly and helpful. So I guess it's back to my routine of Costco, trader Joes, Stater Bros and wal mart read more

I accidentally got into the wrong lane the girl was very rude and told me I was in the wrong line. I am very disappointed and disgusted by the attitude of VERONICA, one of the employees at this location. I was overcharged for several items on my order. I approached her and showed her my receipt to inform her of the error. She proceeded to tell me that it was probably because some items require purchase of multiples. The items that I was overcharged for were not marked as such. I walked to the fruit that I was overcharged for and pointed out the sign with the correct price. She became irate and snarky and stormed off stating that "I don't wanna deal with you because I don't have time for this! Someone else can help you!" She then runs and grabs another employee while I'm asking for her manager. The other employee proceeded to correct the eerie and apologized. VERONICA was nasty and rude and refused to talk to me. Walking away to the back of the store. This is not the first time that I have been overcharged in this store. But this is definitely my FINAL day shopping here. I won't be back. I hope VERONICA is reprimanded. I'm sure the employee that fixed the error was not a manager, so her nasty behavior will go unchecked. I'm sure if I was someone else she would not have spoken to me and treated me in this manner. I plan to contact the corporate management of this location and pursue this matter further. This is actually a Smart and Final EXTRA location. They have everything a regular grocery has, including personal care items like shampoo and toothpaste. They still have the same great prices and also great produce. Last weekend was the first time I had been in this location, and I may start coming here instead of going to Sam's Club for groceries. read more

Very disappointed. The people who work here have to be the slowest people in the world! The cashier's, stock people... They move like they're in slow motion. It's surreal. The sales might be good, but they have almost nothing available. There are not enough cashiers and the few things I came in to get I basically left without. Produce here, from what I can see, is expensive. The employees try to ignore you and customers ask other customers questions because the employees avoid answering! A Cashier - Lashay is an awful lazy female. After slowly ringing up my items and after paying, she just stood at the register. She didn't proceed to place my items into my cart. I asked her why she refused to do it, her reply was that she didn't like my kind of people. I'm a proud Hispanic and I felt very hurt! My 2 children shouted at her "you are a terrible girl!" I had the Store Manager pulled her into the office and she then returned and apologized while loading my items into the cart. There was another family in line and began applauding & shouting "Hooray!" This was the first time at this store for my family. If you encounter a similar problem at this store, please please make sure that you speak up and be sure that your items are placed into your cart. Loading items into your cart by a store employee has always been part of the market experience. Don't let them take that away from you! read more

On Thurs., 5/21/15, my husband and I purchased a 64 oz. package of First Street (frozen) Boneless Chicken Thighs (bar code # 4151202356) from the Palmdale Smart & Final store (#437) in preparation for our Memorial Day weekend bar-b-que. When my husband reached in the bag last night to put the chicken pieces on the grill, he felt something strange at the bottom of the bag. To his horror & surprise, he found a large piece of bent metal (approx. 8 inches long with black rubber/plastic wheels on either end) at the bottom of the bag in and amongst the chicken pieces! To him it looked like it belonged to a piece of machinery that processes chicken. Then today, when I returned the bag and metal piece to the store (after taking pictures), I asked a cashier to speak to a manager, after she offered to help me but was horrified by what was in the bottom of the bag. I was referred to the Assistant Store Manager, David Gonzalez. When I relayed the disgusting story to him and showed him the piece of metal at the bottom of the bag, he DID NOT EVEN APOLOGIZE for what we found. He simply offered to replace the bag of chicken, and said "that's all he could do". He DID NOT care that my Memorial Day weekend had been interrupted, or that I had to drive 15 miles round trip to take care of this matter, not to mention the possibility of contamination. He was NOT the least bit concerned that there may have been a HEALTH HAZARD because of faulty quality control by your company. His attitude was cavalier and told me, "ok, go get another package". He made NO ATTEMPT to offer any service or apology in this matter, nor offer any form of compensation for my time, energy, mileage, upset and inconvenience that this has caused my family. When I brought up an additional package of chicken thighs to the register, thinking he might generously offer to placate me with an additional bag of chicken, so I wouldn't send a seething email to Customer Relations at corporate, and more so, contemplate a law suit against you, he was neither concerned nor caring about what happened to us. I am an elementary school teacher and a day off which is supposed to be spent relaxing with family at the end of a very long school year is a precious commodity, and shouldn't be wrought with worry over the quality of product we purchase from your company, or an insensitive attitude by management. We have been loyal S&F customers for years, and are APPAULED first by this frightening lack of quality control, and second, by the disrespectful, uncaring position of the Asst. Store Manager. Regardless of what store policy may be, he (at the very least) should acknowledge that we were put out unnecessarily and that the good name of S&F was put in questionable light, beside the fact that there was an evident quality control issue and blatant health concern on the line. read more

I'm very upset, this place don't honor their prices when they're wrong, out of the four items I was buying two had the wrong price, I was buying cod for dinner there were 3 signs that said 9.99 right on top of the item, when I went to the register it was ringing up 20.99 with a 2.00 off, also got peanuts that were on sale for 5.99 and they were charging me 7.99, I told the cashier that was wrong and he send someone to verify the prices on both of the items, he took pictures and showed the to the manager, apparently they have stock the cod in the wrong place or the sign was in the wrong spot and the peanuts had the correct description and sale price had to be honot, anyways the manager Noelia didn't want to honor the prices even tho it was their mistake she was very rude and just walk away from me telling me that the tag didn't match the description. I usually don't write reviews for supermarkets but today I had a reason to compliment great service. My mom is a senior and she needed help with service. She was becoming frustrated because she couldn't find a product and wanted to leave until a manager came to help her. She explained that the manager was very patient and kind towards her and helped her complete her shopping. In addition, he explained its a pleasure to help her and looks forward to serving her in the future. My mom was very happy to have the level of service she usually only gets at banks. My mom is usually hesitant to go grocery shopping on her own because she's afraid to ask for help. Because of the managers high standard of service, she doesn't mind returning on her own knowing that the store has staff like the gentleman who helped her today. Thank you to the manager! S n M used to be my "go to" vendor for restaurant supplies. That is until I started frequenting other vendors. S n M prices are comparable but it is Smart and Finals Cashier's that have me avoid patronizing them. I prefer to frequent vendors that practice customer service skills like: courteous, friendly, sincere and have the ability to COUNT CHANGE as well as, THANKING YOU FOR YOUR BUSINESS! read more

Expiration dates are a real problem at the store by the mall. I check EVERYTHING before I buy it now after bringing home things that were way past their expiration. They also regularly run out of frozen ground turkey, which is a staple at our house. 40% of the time they have none in stock. A big seller for them is Toriani Syrup for tea and coffee. The popular flavors are also often out of stock. Order more! That's the reason for the two stars. What I like about this store is that they will special order items that I buy in bulk. That is a great option to have. Their store manager also seems to care when you bring things to his attention. Years ago, when they were still in Lancaster, neither of these things were problems. Just be careful in the deli section and check expiration dates. read more
