Horrible management here at Stater Brothers on Avenue S. As I was checking out , I informed manager James there's a spill with broken glass in the parking lot due to these horrible bags!!! I showed him the pictures and told him it's been out since I came... for more than 20 minutes. He said "oh I know. It's not my fault. It's the bags, if you have an issue contact the bag company". I get to my car and it's still there went back and told him that it's still there, he cared less, he just shrugged his shoulders. This is a hazardous issue look at the photos. James could cause Stater Brothers millions of dollars if someone were to get hurt in this parking lot, it's a lawsuit for sure!!! read more

One of the rudest experiences I've had at this store. I asked an employee named Jenny for help and instead of doing her job, she gave me a nasty attitude and brushed me off by sending someone else to help me. The way she spoke and acted was completely disrespectful and unnecessary. I brought it up to the cashier because her behavior was shocking, but I honestly doubt anything was done about it. Customers should not be treated like they're an inconvenience for asking a simple question. If someone hates dealing with people that much, they should not be working customer service. So I just was in there and what I didn't like was Julia asked me how many bags I said I don't know. How ever many the groceries can go it I'll take. So the girl with the long hair she looks new maybe Hispanic loads on my stuff in 1 bag. Then Julia charged me for two. But before that I gave her a $100 bill that came out the ATM at the front door. Ok that's fine. I just don't understand why they ask us instead of already knowing they work there at Stater Brothers we don't. You (they should teach them in cashiering class how much goes in each bag. I took grocery checking class in 1986 at Ab Friedman Occasional School I still remember that and I'm in my 50's. This is the first time I have been to this store and can actually say it was a pleasure. The cashiers are dry and spend more time conversating among each other and don't even bother to say hello or thank you when you are at the check out counter. Today, I encountered Mark in produce. He was so freaking amazing. I asked him if he was a new employee?. He replied no. He helped me with a smile and positive energy. I asked if he could see if there was any more romaine lettuce in the back. He brought me out some and we had a really good conversation. Thank you Mark.I recommend you get a raise!!!!. I go to this Stater Bros all the time, and I always enjoy how simple and easy it is to get what I need. Everything is well-organized, clean, and the store just has a welcoming, homey feel to it that I really appreciate. One thing I want to give a special shoutout to: the shelves are always nicely stocked. Whoever's in charge of stocking--give that person a raise! It makes a huge difference when you can count on your favorite items being there every time you go. Overall, it's just a solid, dependable store with a comfortable vibe. I like this Supermarket. It's always clean too. However, can someone explain to me why the Fajita Beef behind the counter taste like they soaked it in Vinegar? That is so strange as if someone is trying to cover up an oder or texture. Anyway, just wondering ... Also, why is it that when they have a sale of meat, why do they often run out of the particular brand instantly and have the more expensive brand right next to it? Although there is not much variety in the market, there is enough to sustain... If they sold, Yankee Dooles, Entermanns Coffee Ring Danish, Byers Butter Almond or Sabrette Hot Dogs and Saucey Onions, I'd eat myself into a food frenzy. Yeah.... I just want to give Cynthia in the produce department a shout out. I have had a horrible time finding good nectarines at other stores. I'm a little like "Kramer" from Seinfeld, really picky about produce. Cynthia was stocking fruits. I don't want to buy more nectarines and end throwing them away. I asked if I could just take a bite out of one too see if they were good. This lovely young lady dropped stopped what she was working on, took the nectarines back to wash it and came out with a knife to cut a piece off for me. It was really good. Because of her going above and beyond, I purchased around 7 lbs. I'll be back for more. Good customer service brings people back to your store. This is my local market. When I first moved to the area, I was a little concerned because I had previously shopped almost exclusively at a Vons store. I had no reason to worry whatsoever. The staff is friendly, the produce is beautiful and the the store overall is well stocked. read more

Stater Brothers is a solid grocery store. It's not a fancy shamancy place like say Trader Joe's, but it still has just about everything you need. The employees are very nice there and it rarely is super crowded (especially with cobid). It's a bigger place and has a butcher shop and plenty of vegetables if you don't eat meat. Last I heard if u have a service dog you are allowed in stores. Just got kicked out cause my service dog was in the cart, didn't bark once. I shall check my laws. It's good I would buy my groceries here. I go here probably 2-3 times a week, because I prefer fresh. I am a human that is not balling, but I know right from wrong. I will contact better business bureau to see if it was acceptable for me not to shop with my service dog. So I ended up going to Albertsons with my service dog in the cart. No issues. So even though I'm Probably 1/3 miles away. I'll drive 5 miles to Albertsons butcher. Or Bens butcher block in Lancaster. read more

Generally consistently less expensive than most other major grocers in the AV. However, as with every other major grocer in the AV, if you want decent fish or seafood you would be better off sourcing these items directly from an online purveyor like the Fulton Fish Market or Wild Alaskan Seafood. Ditto for meats (Butcher Block or Good Chop are good online alternatives). This store had major supply problems during the pandemic and some items remain in short supply (I'm talking to you, cat lovers!). read more

This review is all about Edward at the meat counter. I couldn't find ground pork so I asked Edward at the meat counter for assistance. He and I both searched for the item with no luck. I showed my disappointment about having to go across town for the item. He made a suggestion, he could grind pork chops for me. WOW! Great idea. We eventually found the ground pork but I liked his idea and took him up on his service. I normally don't think of grocery stores' meat counter as a butcher shop, but this experience opened my eyes. The store is clean, well stocked and the people at the meat department are always polite and willing to help you out. I especially appreciate the huge variety of frozen prepared meal entries and sides that include a lot of specialty vegetarian, low fat, low carb, no gluten choices. I once would have cooked for myself but circumstances change and I am grateful for the selection Stater Bros. carries. I also like that I can pick up a little card hanging near the register that makes it easy to give $5 to a worthy cause--with no pressure to donate and without causing my mailbox to be flooded with requests.. I come to Stater Brothers less and less because of this customer service is so poor. I began shopping at Stater brothers when they first opened their Avenue S location. Store was great when Brenda was the manager. I was just athe store today and this old guy, Thom C. rang up my items. He did not greet me and when I thanked him for bagging my groceries he just looks at me. WTH?! I gave them another chance. I just left the store and Samantha C. checked me out in lane six. She didn't greet me, the only thing she said to me was 'do I want a bag.' Then she rung up my groceries and just left them on the counter even though I was in a full service line and began checking in the guys groceries behind me. I see that there have been a few reviews that are a bit less than complimentary for this store, so I feel like I have to comment especially about the accusation of racism. I have been shopping in that store for many years and not only have I not seen any example of racism, but a significant number of the employees there are minorities of various kinds. I have never been treated with any sort of discriminatory behavior from anyone in the store. They are good and helpful when asked and they have a tough job that doesn't pay a lot so some are struggling but they are very good and always willing to help. After today i'm done shopping here. I moved to the AV about a year ago from the LA area where as i did most of my shopping at whole foods and other various health food stores. When i moved here I was disappointed that the only health food store was trader joe's, and now Sprouts which are both a bit of drive for me. I never really liked shopping here to begin with but the last 2 month this place has gone downhill. The employees are clearly miserable and it's actually pretty sad. Saw another review on google saying they saw the manager scolding an employee. HA pathetic. That must be why they all look so sad all the time. A few weeks back i noticed multiple employees wearing masks so i asked one of them if there was a big going around in the store. he replied with "yeah some managers want us to show up to work even if we're sick or we might get disciplined" WHAT?! DID THE PANDEMIC TEACH YOU PEOPLE NOTHING? i felt bad for the poor kid. you could tell he was sick. Anywho, if anyone managed to read this far don't waste your money here on a company that can't treat the employees with respect. i'll drive to trader joe's or sprouts, or food for less next door where the employees aren't so miserable. read more

It is exactly the same as every other Big Box grocery store you've been in, being the local manifestation of mass production food industry in the U. S.
