I called them and was able to get my carpet cleaning appointment and sectional sofa. cleaningscheduled the same day. The technician called a half hour before to say he was on route- He was friendly and efficient and even asked me to inspect before he packed his equipment away. He demonstrated a stain treatment that was unbelievable. He poured coffee onto a white carpet, it beaded up and floated on the surface and was easy picked up with a paper towel. We called Smart Choice on a recommendation from friends and they put us on the schedule the next day. The crew of 4 arrived on time and asked us to let them know what we wanted to have done. I'm updating my review. I used to use them regularly about 5 years ago but when they changed teams the quality suffered and I stopped the service. We are now selling the town house and they were my go to company for move out service because every other company I've tried in the past is either too expensive, slow, booked out weeks or doesn't clean to my satisfaction (and I'm not a very picky person at all). I contacted them on Yelp and follow up was done through email and phone. They were responsive and very helpful. I was stressing about who I'd be able to find to clean so we could put the house on the market before we left on vacation. I was so relieved to see the service had improved both on the reservation/initial contact front and the actual cleaning. Pricing options were easy to customize and track. They quoted me one 1.5 hour package to start and each half hour needed would increase the price. Crew was about 30 minutes late but called to let me know, they got to work immediately then called toward the end of the 1.5 hour to give me an update on progress. They needed 30 more minutes so the office called me to approve the half hour increase and it was my choice to stay at the package rate or add the 30 minutes. I added and they were finished within that time. They cleaned as instructed and our home is move in ready! I was charged the adjusted price the following day. The cleaners came promptly, and I was able to leave and handle some other items, and we checked in when they were about done so I could head back. Have had my carpets cleaned throughout the years at various locations from different services - everything from the cheap specials to top of the line. By far, Smart Choice Cleaning exceeded my expectations. The owners, Lisa and John, go out of their way to provide service and a time that is convenient for your schedule. When they showed up, they reviewed my "problem areas," and treated them accordingly for the type of stain. Worried about the large, ground in coffee stain I made worse by trying to clean it myself with a Spot Bot (never do this!) only to learn coffee is one of the toughest stains to remove. Well, they did it! I like that there are no "hidden costs." Usually those "deals" don't include any spot treating for tough stains. This was all upfront. They also took their time - usually most places are in and out and do a cursory sweep of the carpet - not Smart Choice. I'm on their list for another cleaning in 6 months - I have a dog, and don't like my carpets to look like I have a dog, so regular maintenance is a must. Very, very happy. Highly recommend. Best rated in NOVA? I'm sorry, but this was the most unprofessional organization I have ever dealt with. My roommate and I requested a move out cleaning, and selected a two hour maximum. They showed up an hour later than the scheduled time window because the home they tended to prior took 'longer than expected'. When they finally arrived, I told the woman, "Okay, I will be back in two hours." She said, "No, we have 3 maids. I brought you one extra person for free. It will not take two hours." I told her, "I didn't request a third maid. Appreciate the thought, but I paid $190 for two hours." (Also.. $190 was a RIP off.. just wait.. you'll see why.) We returned after that time and to our surprise... the bathrooms and kitchen were the only thing touched. I will add, they did a great job in the bathrooms and kitchen.. BUT Dust everywhere else. Main entrance tile completely dirty. Carpets not vacuumed. I said.. "I'm sorry, can you at least please vacuum?" She told me, "You pay more, and we do." With my frustration, as you can probably imagine, I call the owner.. John. John within the first 2 minutes cut me off and said, "You paid two hours AND I gave you another maid for free. You only booked two. If you want them to stay later that'll cost more." Okay, John. 1) I know the third maid tagged along because they were running late from the previous house, you weren't doing us a favor whatsoever. I'm not an idiot. Three maids and they accomplished 3 bathrooms and a kitchen in two hours and didn't touch anything else? Disappointing. 2) When we initially looked at this company for cleaning the carpets in the home, he priced us pretty high without even seeing the home. We found another company that actually came on-site for free to do an estimate, charged less, and did an AMAZING job. John was angry when we cancelled on the carpet cleaning service, and went on to tell me how much his truck was worth (I don't care how much your truck cost), and that if we want to actually get our security deposit back that we MUST go with them because he's seen this time and time again. All in all, John, we will never utilize your companies services again. Ever. Customer service is key to happy customers. For the record, your maids were very nice and did a great job. Smart Choice Cleaning does a wonderful job, and I like that you can customize what is done every time. One week concentrate on cabinets or baseboards, etc. Most cleaning companies do the same things every week - or skip the same things every week. Smart Choice cleans overall but also lets you point out areas to focus on. It is the most well run cleaning company we've ever used. I get a call checking time / date, and what I'd like done. I recently used Smart Choice and was very pleased with the move-out cleaning they provided. The condo looked amazing when they finished. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars was that they were an hour late. This could have been a miscommunication. They also took longer than expected but I understand that they can't know how long a job will take if they have never seen it or know how much work they will need to do. I had Smart Choice clean my extremely dirty kitchen grout as well as two hallways that were not as dirty. Jonathan was wonderful and explained upfront some of the stains could not be removed as it was an accumulation of years stains. In spite of that, they did a wonderful job of cleaning and sealing the grout. I had received several estimates for doing this work. I used Smart Choice Cleaning for upholstery and a rug cleaning. I called in because I was having trouble adding on additional services online - if the website would have worked, it would have been great. You're able to see times when services would be less expensive and schedule your appointment easily. The concept is there, so try that before calling. The interpersonal communication I had with the lady on the phone was strange and her customer service skills could use some work. She wasn't familiar with prices and couldn't explain the services accurately. Also (this wasn't a big deal, just awkward) the first thing she said to me was "Devon, like the boy Devon?". Anyways, on to the important part - the results, or I guess I should say lack thereof. The discolorations and stains were partially removed, but they weren't all that dark to begin with. We were left with results that could have been completed with a Dirt Devil rental from the grocery store and a stench that smells like someone else's freshly smoked in home. It's been over a week and the smell is still lingering pretty badly. The only reason I'm giving the services 3 stars is for the super nice technician, Yohance. They killed it! We had a house warming party for about 60 people and the place, well, looked like we had a big party. I called Smart Choice and had an appointment scheduled for 2 days later. They called and confirmed the appointment the night before, they called when they were on their way and when they got there, the cleaning was top notch! Cleaning service cannot meet my expectation. They charge 50% more than other cleaning company, but the quality of service is not 50% better than others. I signed up for recurring article, but they forgot to come two weeks after the initial cleaning.. The first time they didn't change the bed sheet in my room, just added the new one on the top of the old one. I've told the cleaning lady to change it when they came in the second time. However they still just added the new one on top of the old one. The third time they did change the bed sheet in my room, but forgot to change the other room. I asked to remove the diapers from the diaper pail, but the lady refused because dirty diapers are not trash. Besides, she forgot to add a new trash bag to my kitchen trash can. It doesn't even meet the basic requirement of cleaning service. Very disappointed! read more

I'm really disappointed in Smart Choice. The last three times I've used their services things have not gone as I'd expected. I hired them to clean the grout in my master bath and they grazed the marble. Another time, again having my grout cleaned, they did not clean behind the toilet, stating their machine does not clean in those spots. They had to come back to clean it by hand. This last time my steps were not cleaned well. They now have to come back and clean them again. In their defense the young man who cleaned was very respectful and professional. read more

I used Smart Choice a few times and they were good. Easy to book with and showed up always on time. So I was very surprised with the last time they came (a Friday) as it was so disappointing. Still dusty with visible dust balls on the floor and marks in the sink. It's like they didn't vaccuum at all and did just cursory wipe downs without actually cleaning the kitchen. I called to complain as soon as I got home (an hour after they left) and the lady was very nice and offered to have them come back out to recify but they couldn't come back out until Monday which didn't work for me. She gave me a discount off the service which was appreciated but the work was so sub par that they lost my trust and future business. Had whole house carpet cleaning done for a rental move out. Technicians did not try hard enough to get out a fresh coffee stain. The next carpet cleaner (whose bill came out of my rental deposit) had no problems getting it out afterward. I always love paying twice. read more
