This was the absolutely worst experience I've had. I know they've only been open for a few days but this is horrible. Between the police coming in regards to a disgruntled employee who was fired hours before we got here to the 45 minute wait just for a burger and fries! Still waiting here now and I've witnessed at least 5 customers walk up to the front and ask for a refund. The staff has sent back multiple orders because they were the incorrect! I got a five ounce mushroom Swiss burger with added grilled onions and tater tot my other half got a custom build your own burger 6 ounces chipotle bun bacon and blue cheese and fries we both got sodas. Ran us almost $27. My personal opinion best $27 ever spent 1000 times better than red robins and some of the other local Burger joints around here. They're hot they were juicy they were exactly made to order and were correct fries and tater tot's came out hot and seasoned well. If you have not been to this place yet please go give them a try. Don't fall for the hype. In my humble opinion this Burger joint is not worth the money. We've been wanting to check this place out for awhile and today was the day. I'm going to start out by saying that my review is based on a combination of service and food quality and unfortunately neither was outstanding. Right from the start of ordering I knew this was going to be a less than perfect interaction. The cashier was disoriented for some reason and asked us twice if we were dining in or to go. I informed her both times we would be dining in. I ordered a BBQ Bacon Cheddar burger with pimento cheese instead of cheddar. It took a few minutes to figure out how to input that. Not a big deal I've been there. I also ordered fries and a Oreo milkshake. All this came to a total of a little over $16.00 A little much for a burger and fries but ok I'll give it a shot. My burger was dry and super salty for some reason. The highlight was the fries. The smash fries are great and the only thing I may come back for in the future if I do come back. My Oreo milkshake was good but messy. The employees were just all over the place. Like they had no idea what was really going on. It was pretty crazy. Anyway if you want to try and overpriced burger then this is the place for you. If not. Go to Red Robin across the street. You can get the same thing for cheaper. read more

I thought I was knocked out by Five Guys, excuse me, 5 who? I had a girl on my bus this morning and I asked her about her tee shirt. She said Smashburger, and my eyes lit up. Good burger! Not greasy at all. Lettuce, tomatoes all very fresh. Bacon/avocado actually had fresh avo on it. Fries were good too. Only issue we had was the temperature in the restaurant. Hubby had a heavy rugby shirt with a T under and his leather flight jacket & was still cold. I was fairly bundled too and I like the cold, but not while I eat! I do recommend trying their burgers. I was stoked when I saw a smash burger opening up here in chesapeake. That used to be one of my go to spots in San Diego. The first time I went I was let down with my burger being extremely dry and it didn't have enough sauce. Each time I've gone though, they've gotten progressively better. I am in love with this place! I'm a pescatarian but my husband and son love burgers and they say they are the best burger they've had in this area. My go to there is the Spinach Cucumber Goat Cheese salad. It comes in a huge bowl. I get extra goat cheese because it makes the salad even better. It has become an every other week spot to eat. The service here is horrible!! I ordered online around 8:10pm and when I came to pick up my order which was suppose to be ready by 8:30pm no one greeted me or ask me if I needed help. The workers (including the manager) walked by me for 10mins before asking me if I needed help. They finally decided to give me an explanation saying "their printer was down" and that it would be an extra 10mins. 10mins later I still haven't received my order. ALSO none of the workers are wearing hair nets while making food. Smh. Will not be returning to this establishment. read more

Pleasantly surprised with a last minute choice for dinner. Ordered the truffle mushroom beef burger & the old dominion burger-split an order of smash fries. Everything was delicious - could actually taste a hint of truffle, which isn't always a guarantee with "truffle" menu options. Staff was super friendly too - it was really busy & seating was at a premium, but it's a new spot. We were told there would be a 10-15 min wait for our food, which we don't mind since it's fresh, but it came out in about 5 min. Will def go back when we're craving a splurge meal! read more

My first taste of Smashburger was in El Paso on the army base there. So I was pumped when I found there was one in the Hampton area, but it had poor reviews for me to drive that far. Yippee when I found one that was opening closed to my house. We stopped there on Wednesday at around 530. I had the burger, smash fries and a drink. Gawd.... do I love those smash fries. My first time there was an excellent experience! I ordered Cobb salad with goat cheese instead of blue cheese. Greens were delicious- balance of all the toppings was perfect. My husband got a classic burger and fries-no salt. Everything was served as ordered and they even rang the order up to save us a few cents. Food was served quick by friendly employees. read more

I was just in there 1/25/22 @ about 5:50pm and had the worst experience! I was there to pick up a order that my wife placed online I proceeded to where you pick up online orders and the lady @ the register came over came over I told her I was there to pick up an order and gave my wife's name and even told her the items in my order. She grabbed the bag of food then asked me for my phone. Confused I asked why she then proceeded to tell me she needed the confirmation from door dash, I told her that I didn't place the order that my wife did and we went around about the confirmation I even told her my card was used to pay and would she like it. Nope that wasn't good enough! So she gave a bit of a look like oh well I'm not dealing with you and put the food back on the top rack and walked away. I had to call my wife get her to get online where there is no order confirmation number just her name and order and get her to text me the information. Another younger girl said that is what she wanted to see and gave me my food. I literally gave the first girl all the info when I walked in just not the screen shot!! So I get home which is literally 2 min from the greenbrier location and the food is now cold and missing my sons chocolate milk. Please some one tell me why I need to show my order for it to still be missing an item? Why make it so hard to get something that I paid for? I have been there several times to pick up orders that my wife placed and have never been asked to prove it's mine after I have given them all the info upfront. She needs training or to be let go because she obviously doesn't care to be there. That makes me think real hard about spending my money there after that kind of lack of service. read more

Previously been to many smashburger in other states. They were all amazing but I was greatly disappointed with this location. We came to twice just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. The fries are top thick and not skinny and crispy like all the other locations. The shakes were really watered down and didnt even fill the cup all the way. The burgers weren't bad but not up to par with the other locations. Will not be returning to this location unless there is a change in management. So this review is more based on customer service. The food was pretty tasty. I like that they had good options for kids (grilled chicken, Honest juice) and my Baja salad was really yummy. We didn't have burgers but they sure did smell amazing. Here's the reason for my 5 stars. My son promptly dropped his grilled cheese half on the ground as soon as he took one bite. A server saw this and immediately insisted on getting him a new sandwich. She apologized for the maybe 5 minute wait for the replacement. We chose to sit outside in their outdoor area, and were checked on many times. I can appreciate all of this, as a mom trying to lunch solo with 2 toddlers. I'm very impressed with this place. The staff is really attentive. The food is amazing, I really love that you can pick your protein. I'm not the biggest burger fan so the fact I can get a chicken patty really won me over. I'm not crazy about ordering from a counter and finding a seat tho. the line gets long quick, so if you want to add something you have to stand back in the line and hope you still have a table. Okay prices, except combo is priced $1 too much based on lack of variety of soft drink selection and small quantity of fries served. Floor is slippery in dining area. They're expensive when you add fries/drink BUT join the smashburger club and earn points for each purchase. Didn't take long to earn $10 off my next purchase. I ordered my food online through the yelp app and maybe that was the first mistake. I arrived at 7:40 to pick up my order that was supposed to be ready at 7:30. When I got in there I saw the sign that showed to proceed to the front for to-go orders. When I got there, a woman greeted me and asked what my name was and told me to go to the register to pay. I asked if they made the 4 shakes on my order and they said they had.. which was weird to have your shakes ready 15 mins before the food comes out. It took around 20 extra minutes to receive the food I ordered and it still was not completely accurate. The quality of the food was rather poor as well. One item in my order contained fried pickles and the carton they were served in was barely half-way full. I returned with the rest of the food to find that the food was cold.
