We went into the store at 8:28pm to get a quick meal. The host continued her cleaning and eventually made her way over to us. When we walked to the register, we received no greeting, no 'Hi', nothing except, what would you like? I placed my order, was informed the shake machine was closed, and was informed that the dining room was closed. Why? Store closes at 9pm, the store still has 30 minutes before it closed? Shake machine shouldn't have been closed and there was still plenty of time to eat and go. We had been doing volunteer work outside all day and wanted a cool place to sit. Ok, that is fine, we got the order to go and sat outside at the tables. We had 3 different orders (separate individuals), we all received cold, soggy fries. At 8:50, they shut the outside lights off on us, still 10 minutes before closing. I went inside to refill my drink at 8:52, they eventually turned the lights back on, apparently oblivious to the fact that we were sitting out there?? I took our trash in but all the trash baskets were without bags and I didn't want to throw the trash in the can with no bag, so I set it on the top of the trash cabinet. She swiped the bags off the trash cabinet like it was a major inconvenience to her and at 8:55 she locked the door. She was so worried about her cleaning and making sure she could walk out that door at 9pm. Stores are open until 9pm. She shouldn't be so worried about walking out the door at 9. Cleaning can be done while people are still in the store and after guest leave, it doesn't hurt to have to wipe off one extra table? Just very rude. What I will say is that the dining room was clean and the store was neatly kept but service was terrible and the attitude sucked! Not sure why younger employees don't understand what providing good customer services look like anymore (This doesn't apply to ALL younger people, but enough that is it an issue). 1st time at Smashburger. Can't believe anyone gives this location 5 stars. No Toilet paper in the Men's room but not as disgusting as the women's toilet that didn't flush. Was rude and dismissive at the counter. gave me no receipt, but luckily, I had photographed our order and the final bill for my records. Later was nice to us. Most of the tables were dirty and the trash areas were dirty and overflowing with trash. And only had a few groups customers at the time. Also didn't have any paper towels, and most of the bins looked empty, that should've maybe held utensils, cups, or condiments. They got our order wrong and when she took it back to the cook, had to listen to them argue. Turns out we had somebody else's order. What's worse? Is they removed the food off of our table and took it to the correct table, who unfortunately saw that we had touched the food. The food was good but expensive. My daughter took me for lunch while we were in Lexington. It was both of our first-time eating at Smashburger. The service was very smooth, the young lady who took our order was very sweet and friendly. They had indoor and outdoor seating available. We chose to eat inside since it was hot outside. I had the BBQ Smashburger with smash fries and a chocolate shake. My daughter had the Truffle, Mushroom, Swiss Smashburger with smash tots and an Oreo cookie and cream shake. Smashburger wasn't our first choice. However, the "Yummmm" restaurant attached to the Columbiana Centre had a four-five (45) minute wait and wouldn't let us sit in the patio. It was strange even though we didn't bother to contest. Smashburger was a solid choice, even though I believe the burgers and other entrees are on the pricier side. Hubby and I had a order of avocado black bean burger and a order of Carolina chili burger, a order of veggie frites, along with two (2) fountain pops featuring the Coca-Cola freestyle machine. The total was almost $20. The veggie frites were decent, but the color palette was less inspirational in my opinion. With only carrots and green beans, I was anticipating a wider variety of vegetables to spruce up the dish. I don't know if the "Carolina chili" burger or sandwich was a regional special. I guess I shall find out the answer to the question if I ever walk into a Smashburger location in Chicagoland. Smashburger isn't a particularly exciting choice of restaurant for me, yet it's a family-friendly joint without having to spend a fortune. Reminds me very much of Shake Shack in NYC. Your typical fast casual burgers and shakes restaurant. I say "typical" but that doesn't mean it's average. It was very good!! I got the BBQ Bacon burger. Burger was cooked perfectly, tasted fresh, onion straws really added to it. I would get it again. We got the coffee shake, blended with high quality coffee, and it was amazing!! Went in to celebrate our daughter's birthday dinner! Had a coupon so it made it more enticing. The store is very clean and well decorated. The staff was less than helpful and the cook staff messed up every single one of our orders. I specifically asked for no cheese and my boyfriend asked for no mayo. We got both, unfortunately. Thankfully, we are not allergic but that kind of lack of attention to detail could easily harm a child in the future. We are not the kind of people who return food but it left a mediocre taste in my mouth for this restaurant. The food itself was great. Due to the "smash" part, the burgers will come thin and well done, so if that's not your preference, it might be better to skip this franchise. I would recommend them other than these small errors. We just moved here a month ago and all the places we've been to in the immediate vicinity have been delicious, except this one. The burgers are super small and thin for the price, very reminiscent of a McDonald's cheeseburger (the dollar menu one). We upgraded our fries to "smash fries" at the recommendation of the cashier and they were horribly greasy with way too much rosemary. All the toppings were in one spot so I had to mix them up myself, but regretted doing that after tasting them. We ended up throwing away 2 full large fries.... Not worth almost 40$ for 2 burgers, fries and drinks. We won't be back, and I know that doesn't hurt anyone's feelings, but I wanted to give my honest review for others. It's been a while since we've been to smashburger, but our trip didn't disappoint. Kelsay got the spicy jalapeño Baja burger: LTO, chipotle mayo, guac, pepper jack and jalapeños. The guac wasn't her favorite, it wasn't quite as thick like the guac she normally goes for, but it's a burger joint so we're not knocking them for that. I did a build your own, with LT, chipotle mayo, haystack onions (extra charge), and pepper jack. We also got an order of smash fries and tots (fries/tots tossed in rosemary, garlic + olive oil) We'd suggest you always swap regular mayo for the chipotle variety, it just adds a nice flavor to the burger. Overall it was a great meal, especially since we were hungry. Only complaint is that the single patty burger is a touch small, def go for the double it'll be worth it. read more

My family and I went to Smash Burger in Irmo around 6:00 on a Wednesday. The place was really busy but we could see that tables were available. This was our first time at SB but I made sure I knew our order before we approached the counter. We ordered our food asking politely of the very grim looking young cashier "No mayo, please" and "No ketchup or pickles, please". We also ordered 4 drinks. A few minutes later we realized we were not given cups for drinks. I looked at my receipt and realized the cashier didn't add them to our order. My husband got back in line and paid for drinks. Not a cheap eat, really. Dinner totaled $40. While looking at the receipt I noticed that none of our requests were printed on it. No trace of the "no mayo or ketchup or pickles". I wasn't optimistic. Food arrived and was covered in mayo, pickles, ketchup. However, we were also left cheese-less! BBQ bacon cheddar burger? CHEDDAR? The haystack onions were so incredibly salty they were inedible. Many of them were still doughy and raw in the center. (See pic) The Smash fries were tasty but very greasy. The sweet potato fries were awesome. The iced tea was some of the best I've ever had. I'm a born and bred Southern girl. I've consumed my weight in iced tea several times over. This is REALLY good, fresh brewed, perfectly sweetened iced tea. I would go back just to drink the tea. They were so busy we decided to just wipe off mayo and ketchup and pickles and eat up. It wasn't clear who the manager was. I saw another very grim looking "staff member" whose tag read "Shift Leader". She seemed to be working the ENTIRE dining room by herself. More than likely overworked and underpaid. As a devoted burger-lover, I really enjoy this restaurant, and sorely wish we had one in Greenville! Tons of burger options to try here, and at least two different size patties, so be sure to ask for the bigger ones if you're hungry. For any sandwich, you could also choose a chicken breast instead, turkey patty, or a black bean patty. Pro tip: if you're going to want a second patty, be sure to order it when placing your order, otherwise, they charge you for a full burger (like $5) instead of just an extra patty (which is like $2). The beef patties are nice, and don't seem frozen. We also really like the many salad options here, with burger patties on top or chicken breasts. And, my favorite to top it off: the Coca-Cola Freestyle machine! Smashburger, please open up a franchise in Greenville. Until then, this is a great option on the way to, from or by Columbia.
