I walked in after my PSAT and all I wanted after this rigorous standardized test was an oreo milkshake. Upon arriving I was told they were out of ice cream. I was devastated but accepted the loss. All was fine and dandy until I saw other customers getting milkshakes. This was intolerable. My burger and fries were satisfactory but the baseless discrimination of who is left ice cream-less has ruined my day and soured my mood. read more

They are always nice at Smash Burger but this was a particularly great experience. My sister and I came in for lunch with my 4 y/o niece and 4month old nephew and they made sure to set up a table for us with the right boosters and kid seats. 2 tables in the place with customers and 5 employees playing basketball with the trash dispenser by the drink dispenser. Our food came out in 5 minutes, not only a lot smaller than I ever get at other Smashburgers, but no cheese. The fries were ice cold too. Our ketchup still had the seal on it and we had to tear it off. I told the girl who brought it that we ordered a cheeseburger and she went back to the kitchen and came out with a slice of cheese in her hand and set it on the plate! I told her it needed to be melted on. They did fix everything we mentioned with a good attitude, but they don't seem to know what they are doing. They better get managed better or they will be out of business in no time. I'm disappointed because I love Smashburger. read more

First time at the Louisville Smashburger was great. Reasonable prices for upscale fast food burgers. The second time, there were a few problems. First, I didn't appreciate the efforts to run up the bill. I'm used to cashiers expecting customers to order what they want. If they don't order it, they don't want it. When my son ordered, the cashier asked, "What side would you like with that?" For someone who's not paying attention to the prices on the menu, they'd be inclined to think that a side is included in the price. It's not. We told her we three were splitting an order of fries, so they went on my son's order. When my daughter ordered her burger, she was asked again about the side she'd like. She said, "none." Then she was asked, "Would you like a milkshake for dessert?" My daughter said no. If a kid says yes (many kids likely would), then their parents get to be the "bad guy" and cancel the order, or they may just cave, agreeing to pay for an item they didn't intend to order. Also, the melted cheddar on my Colorado burger scalded the roof of my mouth. I appreciate that the food is hot and delivered shortly after coming off the grill, but they may need to turn down the temperature on the melted cheese. If these things happen on our third visit, then we'll go to Larkburger after that (it's farther from us, but they're not pushy...and so far, no cheese burns). read more

Used to be a lot better. Recently, burgers have been EXTREMELY salty (do they drown their raw ground beef in salt?). Also, invariably they have a chashier person that is inept, slow, and/or gets the order wrong in some way. Just about EVERY time. And having everything a la carte makes Smashburger way overpriced (not the fault of this location). With Freddie's Steakburgers just a mile or two away on Coalton (great smash-style burgers, and reasonaby-priced combo meals), no need to ever come back to this place. read more

I liked this location the first few times I went. I found it be to clean, the staff friendly, and the food to be good. The food came out hot and very quickly. The last 3 times I have gone, I feel as though the quality of food has decreased. I normally get the Truffle Mushroom Swiss burger, and the bun has been hard and stale, rather than soft. The food has come out quickly, but cold. The staff is still nice and the place is still clean, I just wish the food was a good as it used to be. read more

They are charging $2.19 for a soda!!! That is just ridiculous! Locally there is Mooyah, Smash, Five Guys there is no way all of these high end burger places are going to survive. Taking a family of four for a burger at one of these joints is a $30-40 dollars outing! That is not sustainable... it's fast food not a sit down restaurant. They feature this picture of a the most delicious burger on the menu board. What you get is a grease ball packed between two buns. The staff is constantly looking bewildered and inefficient. The fries are nothing great. If I go to Mad Greens and get a salad and I pay 10 dollars for a salad, but I don't have to clean and wash the lettuce, chop it, buy all the ingredients that go in the salad, wash and chop them, get salad dressing, mix and serve. I perceive that there is a value there and at 600 calories it's a healthy option. Smash Burgers is mediocre at best, very expensive for what you get I don't see any value. Burgers are better than McDonalds, but the soda is the same, and McDonald's fries are way better, and I spend less than half of what I spend at Smash Burger. Plus I can get a soda at McDonald's for $1 dollar.... $2.19 for flavored water and carbonation go F yourself Smash Your Wallet Burger!!!!!!!!!!! read more

It doesn't seem like anybody has been trained to work here. Nice kids, but nobody knows what they are doing. We waited in line behind ONE customer, and it took 10 minutes to order. There was a total of 3 tables that were clean. It was honestly disgusting looking around and seeing leftover food on every table. The service was less than par. The guy taking out order didn't say a word until we asked what else came on there burgers. I will never go to a Smash Burger again. I have never before seen a lazier staff. I've been going to this location for years now because it's close to me and I love a good Smash Burger. At this point I won't give them my business any more because the customer service is so horrible. Twice, I've had them throw half of our meal away while in the bathroom with my two young kids. The second time it happened I even alerted them that I was taking my kids to the bathroom, and to please not throw our food out, but they did anyway. I don't like having to grace a public restroom mid-meal, but such is life with small children. More recently I went in around lunch time and sat at the register for 5 minutes without being helped despite the fact that I was the only customer. An employee was sitting right there on their lunch break, and I appreciate that he was off the clock to have a meal but he didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there unattended, nor did he attempt to notify anyone in the back that there was a customer. I eventually just walked out along with another customer who came in after me and realized that no one was coming to help us order food. The management at this location also gives off a very unfriendly vibe. This particular Smash Burger operates in a way that would make one think they are trying to drive away business intentionally. read more

Terrible customer service. Their system for filling orders is completely inefficient. I waited 20 minutes for a chicken sandwich (this is a fast food restaurant), and complained to the manager. The manager's response was, "some people have waited 30 minutes for their food tonight." I asked for my money back at this point. The manger looked at the receipt and said, "You paid 34¢ for a burger and you want your money back?" I said, no, I'd like the money I paid for the sandwich back. The 34¢ was the change I was given. Just had the most unreal experience in this place. Eaten there once before and thought it was average but my son really wanted a burger and we were close...so tried it again. Wow. 45 minutes of watching very upset people asking for refunds and complaining about their food. I finally gave in too and got my refund. It was like the place was paralyzed. Food sat in the window ready...and for some reason it just sat there. Like the people working there just gave up. If there was a manager there...they were hiding in the bathroom. Nothing like the one in Lafayette. This place still needs to be cleaned up. It's dirty both times I visited here and never again. Service was absolutely horrible, real jerks behind the counter. Hamburger was ok, but the milk shake should be called a water shake. A real disappointment! There are many much better places in the area. read more

I went here twice in a two week span. Same exact order. Buffalo and bleu burger with fries. First visit it was perfect. Looked like a restaurant burger. 5/5. Second visit ordered the same exact thing. Opened it and it was sloppily put together. No Buffalo sauce on it. Might as well have Burger King prices if you're going to be this inconsistent. Not going back for a $14 meal when there's a chance I'm ordering that again. read more

We had high hopes for Smashburger, and were excited when a restaurant opened in Louisville. However, the customer service and quality in the Louisville restaurant. More than once, I've placed an order online, only to be ignored when I went in to pick it up. My wife has found onions in her fries, and my sandwiches have been sloppily made. The Lafayette location is better managed and you are acknowledged as soon as you walk in the door, I highly recommend avoiding the Louisville restaurant. read more

Have tried them twice since their opening, cold fries, flavorless burgers and a long wait. The burgers seem to be missing salt, no flavor in a buffalo blue cheese burger, how do you do that? I think they place the fries for carry out orders in the bag when the order is placed, then they sit there for 5-15 minutes while the burgers cook. A very young and inexperienced staff, no older manager in site, may be the root of the problems. read more

I had the Colorado Burger and it was nothing more than average. I ordered it medium but it was cooked all the way, and ended up being dry.
