I'm not a fan of spicy food, and we specifically requested no spice on everything we ordered. Even so, the food seemed heavily seasoned and still had more heat and seasoning than we expected. It was difficult to fully enjoy the meal because of that. Another issue was that the air conditioning was blasting very strongly inside the restaurant, making it uncomfortable to sit and eat for an extended period. Overall, great customer service, but the food and dining atmosphere weren't quite what we were hoping for.

As suggested by the name, Mashed Burgers is a smashed burgers spot - similar in line to a Five Guys or Shake Shack. Unlike those, the theming at Mashed is a little more eclectic - lots of bold colors with an almost urban vibe. The arcade games in the main dining area complete the look. The space isn't too large - the ordering counter take up a good amount of space but they have several tables and a stool counter setup. Smashed burgers are the star the menu, available in a couple of styles as well as in single, double, and triple. Additionally, they have several varieties of fries, Nashville hot chicken, shakes, and churros. Since it was my first time, I decided to go simple and get a single mashed burger and an order of fries. The burger was good - a single patty was just enough, though if I was hungrier I could definitely down a double. The patty had that smashed thickness and was paired with cheese, pickles, and a tasty Mac-like sauce. The fries were a generous portion, and were those crispy "psoriasis" kind that I love mmm. Service was fast - they have an efficient system and my order was ready relatively quickly. Overall, I had a good first experience at Mashed Burgers. This isn't the healthiest option on the Mamaroneck Ave strip, but they are formidable competitor to Five Guys and if the mood catches me I wouldn't be against returning.

Food was fine. Typically would give smashburger 4 stars for their above average food and relatively reasonable prices. However most recently I walked in. There was no one at the register but one of the employees asked me if I was ready to order. When I said yes her response was "are you sure?" in what was without a doubt a condescending tone. I guess she doesn't have the time to try and answer customer questions, provide customer service, or even try and upsell... maybe I would've gotten a drink... or a shake. Probably should've just walked away at that point... but I ultimately was ready to order so I did and the food was exactly what I expected somewhat above average fast casual. read more

Not only did the gentleman setting up our order apologize (MULTIPLE TIMES) for our online order being late, but every time I asked for extra anything - napkins, condiments, utensils - he kept saying it was no worries at all and that if we needed anything while we were dining in, let him know. Unfortunately, service like this at fast food restaurants is such a rarity these days and, to be honest, it's understandable to a degree because so many customers probably treat the employees like crap. However, it's refreshing to still see that people take pride in their jobs, especially in this industry. (Note: The food here is just as good as any other Popeyes as well, so no need to worry about that)

But last we were in the owner appeared to have instructed the wait staff to come and tell me that outside water bottles were not allowed in the restaurant. I mean it was warm, I have a condition I am battling that requires constant hydration and so I always have a 16 or 20oz water bottle in my hand. I eat out probably 500 times a year for the last say 25 years so say more than 10000 eat outs and have never been hassled about drinking water I had in process to stay healthy, so this is kind of an extreme outlier to me. We haven't been back since and likely won't ever go back even though we live in the neighborhood, since it just so destroyed the vibe to be hassled over a 50 cent bottle of water. We generally tip 30 to 40% even on $100 plus bills so it is just in my view a dumb business decision to hassle over something like that and lose what I would guess is $2500 in revenue from this customer a year. For sure the owner can run the business however he wants, but doubt the hassling behavior is increasing revenue for him.
