When you walk in, it's almost like the "spot" that each sitcom has where the main cast would often meet each other. Its a quaint place serving mainly fried food, with one TV and 4 tables. It's a causal place if you want a quick a bite with friends or even siblings. A bit of a hole in the wall in all honesty, however I do want people to know: expect what you're paying for. Between a 7 - piece BBQ chicken, fried mac n cheese bites (came with 6 pieces), fried Oreos (also 6 pieces), and one bottled drink, our total was around $30 - $35. I paid with card which game me an extra fee. The food wasn't extraordinary, but by no means was it bad. It was actually quite delicious, however the Oreos did have a taste like it was a bit of old oil. The Mac n cheese bites were hot and what I was craving, but a bit small for $9.99. The chicken was fantastic, both my friend and I enjoyed splitting that. Service was a bit slow, so I would not go here if I was in a rush but there were only 2 workers, so it is fully understandable. This is great casual food and I'd eat here again. I'd love to bring more friends here. read more

I really enjoyed the wings here. We ordered for takeout (called ahead and picked up). The staff on the phone was very helpful and answered all of my questions. We ordered the shrimp basket (10 pc) and a 20 piece of wings that were split into two flavors (hot Buffalo and mojito lime chili). The wings were meaty and well cooked. They were delicious. It was not the best Buffalo sauce I've had for wings, but it had enough heat, not too much vinegar, and a great amount of flavor. The chili mojito lime flavor was outstanding, I'm glad I tried something I've never experienced before. It was a great balance of lime/acidic flavor, a bit of spice from the chili, and a hint of sweetness?... from the mojito part of it. Someone there knows their sauces!!! The fried shrimp was also good. Well breaded and fried so as not to have it too greasy. We ordered sides of dipping sauces for it, but it comes with tartar sauce. I use to really like this place for different flavored wings, unfortunately delivery has become a major issue and will factor into if I order again in the near future. I was told 40-60 minutes and it's going on 1 hour and 40, I called they said our food was ready but not out for delivery yet. So it will probably be 2 hours for delivery. Unacceptable. I think next time I'll just make the trip to candlelight instead of being lazy, although I'm not comparing the two cause there is no comparison but I use to use hot spot as a quick fix if I was craving wings, probably wont next time. I heard good things about this place and tried their food for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. TL:DR don't place an order thru their website. Just call them to order, and pay cash. Three stars for the following reasons: 1. Pretty sure I ran into the same rude and unhospitable server as the last reviewer. 2. Contrary to my server-friend's assumption, I understand the concept of Grubhub, Uber Eats, etc charging a higher price than the restaurant would charge if you ordered directly, and the same goes for if you order delivery. What I think is BS, is if you go directly to the restaurant's website and place the order directly with them specifically to avoid those other services, accept that there is a $1 "order fee," and then go pick it up yourself only to find that the prices are 10% less if you had just come to the restaurant and ordered in person. This isn't counting the 3.8% credit card fee phrased as a "cash discount" so popular these days, on top of the other shenanigans. I have since looked into it further, and found that they've partnered with "ordereze.net" to facilitate their online ordering, which wasn't evident at the onset. Maybe throw a disclaimer in, calling out the fact that you aren't doing business directly with the restaurant, and will get charged more. Had the traditional non-breaded wings, which were actually pretty good this time. Better than the last time i got them probably last year. Got Caribbean Jerk sauce, which was fine but not spicy, and lemon ginger I think, which was also fine. Packaging is nice, and recyclable. Although Parking can be a hassle this place is worth it! Their menu is so extensive, and they have something for everyone (chicken, burgers, hot dogs, fish, even vegetarian options). I tried the honey BBQ wings, mango habanero wings (very hot), the cheese and regular fries. The fries are crinkle cut btw. The prices weren't too steep and I'll definitely be back! Although I gave the food 5 stars, the service is probably only worth like 2 stars. The girl taking our order was less than enthusiastic. I understand it's a summer job serving people, but we've all been there, and customer service makes or breaks a business. Also the other young kid couldn't get people's orders right when handing them out. The Mac and cheese hotdog was covered in what looked & tasted like fake cheese, you wouldn't even know it was Mac and cheese. The parm garlic wings were below average. No sauce whatsoever, just dry, seemed like they sprinkled some garlic on them and left it at that. The chili cheese fries were awful. The fries were soggy/mushy and the chili was so incredibly spicy it took any taste away that they might've had. I haven't had the fried Oreos yet. Likely won't go here again. read more

Right off the bat, let me put something to bed - some people have said this place compares to or is better than Candlelight and that's crazy. It doesn't hold a candle to Candlelight. That said, the wings are good enough to do the trick when you want bone-in and boneless wings in a variety of sauces. Their boneless wings are definitely meatier than Buffalo Wild Wings and some of the sauces are very good. Buffalo Gold is a pretty unique one that tastes like Snyder's of Hanover's Honey Mustard Pretzels with a bit of a BBQ taste, Thai Chili is a good not-too-sweet flavor, and Toxic is a good level of heat and definitely the hottest you want to go. DO NOT GET THE NAGA JOLOKIA/GHOST PEPPER WINGS. Me and my friend who can both handle a lot of spice easy had a wing each and were up all night with the sauce burning holes through us and causing all kinds of inside bad business. Even before it digested it was so painful that I had to drink a couple of cups of milk - it barely helped. Seriously, avoid a lot of pain for yourself and skip it.. don't be that jerk. read more

I am writing this review not to diminish or demean this restaurant, but to serve as an honest representation of my feelings towards toxic wings. I have eaten here many times, and I believe I am qualified enough to voice my experiences. To start, the wait times are horrible. It often takes 20+ minutes for food that does not deserve that much time spent in preparation. The restaurant is small, but homey and relatively cleanly. Moving onto the food, the wings, which occupy about half the menu, are quite alright, and excel in the variety of sauces. They have no glaring problems, but they aren't fantastic. One might simply call the wings here good, and nothing more. The hot dogs are sub par, but not horrible. Like the wings, there is much variety for toppings, but the hot dogs themselves are below average and not cooked well. The burgers are like the hotdogs, except they do not have the same variety. The burgers are sloppily made, and are sad to look at. The chicken sandwiches are by far the worst. While the crispy chicken sandwiches are more than alright, the grilled chicken sandwiches leave the diner feeling green. In my most recent experience (the one that prompted this review), I bit into my club sandwich (which strangely had cheese on it, which I did not expect and I did not appreciate), I saw that pink center that every chicken eater fears. Needless to say, I promptly put the sandwich away. The seafood, too, is sickening. Dry, crumbly fish, and a clam sandwich that can only lead to regret the next morning (I know this from experience). The deserts are mostly fried, but they accomplish everything that a desert should, however I would skip out on desert at Toxic and head to the Ralph's Italian Ice that is a stones away from the restaurant. The sides present the best that the restaurant has to offer. The mozzarella sticks are solid, if not a bit too doughy. The fries are generally not fantastic, as they are not crisp and are instead thick with potato, but the chili cheese fries are great, and it is the stand-alone menu item that I would actually recommend. In fact, anything with the chili is a sure bet. I hate to be a downer, but what I have presented is the truth. I would avoid unless you are looking for chili cheese fries. read more

My wife and I had planned our Super Bowl Sunday for several days. Part of that plan includes an order of our favorite wings and onion rings from the Hot Spot. We placed our order a couple of days before and planned to pick everything up around 5:00 that day. That was until we heard that a family member had a serious stroke and was at Westchester Medical Center. We spent all day and night until around 8:00 pm at the hospital. We took a ride by Hot Spot not thinking that they would be open. To our surprise, they were open, but our order was gone, since we never showed. Just left from over there, and let me tell you, I LOVE this place. The Thai Chilli flavor is by far the best wing flavor I have ever tasted, and dont even get me started on their Chipotle Barbecue!
