I have eaten at Smashburger 3 times and the novelty wore off quick. The burgers are a bit overpriced for what they are. The chicken sandwich is tasty and overpriced. They are most likely frozen patties. Burgers and fries are quite greasy. The burgers are just plain disgusting and you will regret eating this garbage as you exit. They just might give you the burger sizzling hot from the grill with the hot grease dripping down burning your fingers, 2nd degree. Westchester Med is not too far away with a Trauma Center and Burn Unit. How this burger chain stays so busy is a mystery. I guess there IS a sucker born every minute. I'm generally a really big fan of Smashburger because I am a vegetarian and I love their black Bean burgers. I eat at the White Plains location at least twice a month and have done so since it opened, but after tonight I really don't think I can go back there again. I placed an online order this evening for pick up. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was very busy. As I was walking up to the counter they had just finished bagging my order and placed it on the ledge. I know it was mine because I heard one of the girls who worked there and say my name. I thought to myself, "Perfect timing, my fries will be nice and hot!" I got the managers attention and told him "Hi, I'm Arianna, I think that's my order" he told me to wait a moment and went back to completing other orders. I looked at my bag forlornly and waited, trying to be patient because I work in the service industry and can sympathize with how stressful it can be when things get hectic. I stood there for 10 minutes while that man completed other people's orders. At first I was on my phone while I was waiting, again trying to be patient, but after about 5 minutes I put the phone down and started watching him. Literally all he had to do was take the bag off of the counter and hand it to me. While I was watching he had several opportunities to do so and did not. Finally after he had completed a few more over orders he handed me my bag, almost as an afterthought. I asked him why I had been standing there for so long when my order was ready and he told me some lie about they had to switch my bag. I was standing there the whole time, they never switched my bag. When I finally got my fries, they were cold. This is not even the first time something like this has happened to me at this location, but I guarantee you it will be the last because as much as I love the food at Smashburger I cannot in good conscious continue to patronize a business that treats people this way. After the Yelp reviews for the first time tonight, I found that this kind of poor customer service, at least at this location, is the norm. Places like Smashburger are a godsend for vegetarians like me, but if I go somewhere and leave there feeling how I felt tonight (marginalized, slighted) I'm not going back there, no matter how good the food is. read more

Was loving smash burger until today when I was told terrible news, WTF happened to red onions? My girlfriend and I come to this smash burger quite frequently and red onions are a part of the reason we come here instead of five guys. Can we all just agree that white onions are not better than red onions on your burgers. Even your pictures on display still show red onions. What logical reason could you have for removing them. As a former employee I have being treated extremely disrespectfully especially throughout this pandemic! They require employees to spend their own money without any reimbursements. If we do not we are punished with cut hours and rude comments. Employees are racially profiled constantly. Young adults in high school and college or working class immigrants are the only ones being hired to be taken advantaged of. Social distancing and mask wearing rules are not being followed by employees in the back as well. The beginning of dinner rush??I also got an attitude from the cashier . Second visit here and totally disappointed. The smashburger Sin City shows a Burger piled high with onion haystack and is delivered with 3 little scraps of onion. The fried egg and burger are way over cooked . Ok I requested the Manager look at my burger and tell me that's how it should look.i told him I Ordered that burger based on your ad for it. If that's the way it is in the pic then serve it that way. This man was truly trying to avoid the situation .Finally he went and cooked more, while blaming corporate rules as to portion control. By now the fries were inedible, the ketchup bottle was empty, the milk shake was simply just milk sweetened and topped with whip cream. Terrible. The burger even if overcooked hit the spot and was good once I got the onions on it. The staff aside from management appeared friendly. I waited 20 minutes for the burger, at a place that just does burgers. So that you understand this is essentially a fast food joint. De-emphasis on the word "fast". How is that possible? When I went to ask about it they assured me it was coming and when they brought it they did not apologize. They acted like nothing. They asked if I wanted it wrapped up but then thought I might as well try to eat it now. But I realized how much time had elapsed and asked for my burger to go because after 20 min I had to leave, I swear the young girl who brought it to me rolled her eyes. Went for a quick lunch around noon on a Thursday afternoon. We just missed the rush as the line was about out the door by the time we sat with our number. The system is pretty straightforward and the line seemed to move rather quickly. If you're eating with a friend I suggest someone scopes out a seat while the other one orders as I noticed there were people on the prowl for a table. I was hesitant to try this place as some of the reviews were less than stellar, but I am not sure what people expect when eating a chain "restaurant." The burgers were tasty and aesthetically appealing. The food-to-price ratio seemed about right considering the fresh ingredients on the burger. I did order the classic smash and upped it with the fries and drink. I am not sure what the process was to get a paper cup for my fountain soda as I was handed a red plastic cup and ushered over to the fountain area, while others at tables had paper cups. I was also confused by the need for a plastic fork and finding only silverware. I understand they call themselves a "gourmet burger" place, but sometimes it is nice to have the disposable items as the silverware wasn't that clean looking and in a communal bin. Overall it was a good experience. Parking was plentiful and the place looked well-maintained. Well I was expecting a lot from smash burger. The only thing I can say was the service was excellent but 5 guys and shake shack blows them away. I had the bacon cheeseburger and had no flavor. My husband had the avocado chicken and some even taste the avocado. The smash fries were good but the straw rings were too salty and two greasy never mind the dipping sauce sucked. The top of the burger food chain is getting crowded!! It was once in & out, then five guys came along and then burger 21.... And now SMASHBURGER... As a burger guy, I must say I'm please with the variety of burger establishments on the east coast. This particular SMASHBURGER was in white plains NY. The staff was very friendly, full of smiles and answered all the questions we had as first time visitors of the burger chain. All five of us got different burgers, all of us pleased. (An avacado smash burger, BBQ bacon cheddar smash, spinach & goat cheese grilled chicken, CYO (creat your own) big bacon & cheese smash, and I elected for the spicy cowboy big smash with a side of smash fries. The burgers were well seasoned and the smash fry which had olive oil, Rosemary & garlic were a nice treat. The shakes put us over the top, but who can pass down chocolate or salted caramel shakes?? Not us!! We loved it and will be visiting other SMASHBURGER shops in our area to see if the consistency is there. read more

He nicely sent the burger back just to put avocado on it and there was a huge mixup in the kitchen. Someone else was given his burger, not once but TWICE. We were sitting waiting for 30 minutes being told the new burger was being made and was "coming out now" multiple times. After being frustrated enough, he asked to take the burger to go and they did give us a large fries for free for waiting, which we appreciated.
