My visit to the Med was overdue. I'm glad I found a new favorite restaurant in Irvington. I love the interior, their menu has so many items to choose from. The service was attentive and informative. I tried the chicken kebab wrap with fries. It had a lot of meat and the right amount of sauce. It got messy but it was just so good. I got a lot of fries on the side. They did have several items as special for that day as well. I will definitely go back there soon and try other things. So happy they opened in Irvington. read more

This is my all time favorite place around Indy for Greek food. The service has always been great, the owner is very nice, and the food is always good and fresh. I usually opt for the Athenian salad and add gyro meat or do the gyro plate dinner that comes with Greek potatoes and the Greek green beans (soaked in a tomato/onion concoction.... SO good). Start with saganaki also (a flaming cheese) that is served with pita bread. You won't regret it. The inside is spacious with plenty of parking behind the building. Our foodie group came to The Med for some Greek/Mediterranean food one Sunday, and we were very impressed with the restaurant. This Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in the heart of Irvington provided a wonderful ambiance and excellent customer service to our foodie group. Located right next to Jockamo's Pizza, The Med is a wonderful location and has a very nice enclosed outdoor patio. We were very impressed with the food, especially the lemon broth soup we each had with our meal. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the Greek name of the soup, but it was wonderful and would definitely recommend getting this soup with your meal. I ordered the falafel sandwich with fries for lunch, and it was extremely fresh and delicious. The falafel sandwich tasted amazing and had the right amount of spices. The fries were prepared perfectly with the right texture. I did get a tiramisu to go for dessert. The tiramisu tasted incredible and had the perfect texture and flavors. The Med is a great neighborhood Greek/Mediterranean restaurant in Irvington that you can call home and visit on a regular basis. The staff are wonderful and the manager is very friendly and welcoming to the customers. I can see myself coming back to The Med the next time I am in Irvington to enjoy some excellent Greek/Mediterranean food because it is just that good and I feel like I am right at home. I can't speak for all the other food but the pastitsio was absolutely horrible..looked like it was made last week and was room temperature when it came to the table as were the two sides it came with. I was one of 4 people in the entire restaurant so I don't really understand why the food was cold. It was also bland and just tasted like plain noodles with chunks of meat, felt like it was missing something. Took one bite and couldn't eat anymore. I didn't complain because I decided it was easier to just pay for the food and leave. ETA: I just read a review from a year ago saying the exact same thing about the pastitsio! Sounds like whoever is in charge doesn't care to change things or "learn from the customers" as they so claim in their response. read more

This is a difficult one. The food was excellent! I had the pesto ravioli: house made ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta cheese topped with homemade pesto sauce and fresh tomatoes They offered a complimentary soup and i ĥad Avgolemono: a creamy chicken broth rice with egg and lemon. Both were delicious! The Key lime pie was good, I wasn't a fan of the whip cream on it. They don't take Venmo or cash app but do accept apple pay. The decor was nice. Lots of blues and circles. (Found out they represent some mythology story about Horace and the evilness to ward of evil spirits... ) The pictures on the wall were nice and some are for sale by a local artist Parking may be a challenge. Only a few spots out front and parking in the back however there are serial business in the strip so parking is limited. Lastly, after I ordered my food and reading through the Yelp information I saw the may Healthcare violations, the most recent one being Nov 2024 that was still unresolved?! This review is for the food as a to-go order. I took back to my hotel a Village Salad and Athenian Salad. The vegetables were fresh and full of flavor. The village had a nice slab of feta that was very good and fresh. The Klamata olives had no pits which was a nice bonus but were also fresh and full of flavor. This Village was balanced and the olive oil dressing was also very good. A 10 in my books! The Athenian Salad didn't have a slab but nice chunks of feta with fresh ingredients and the same excellent dressing. Also a 10! They served some sliced pita which was warm and soft. First time trying the Med and it did not disappoint! We sat outside which was very cute and shady, it was a hot day and we were still able to enjoy our meal outside. The food was delicious and affordable. I tried the veggie pita with Greek fries, the veggies were cooked well and the fries paired nicely. They had feta, oregano, and lemon oil. My boyfriend had the chicken pita which he devoured very quickly. The eggplant roll was cheesy, warm, and saucy. Our food came out quickly, and the waitress was very sweet and helpful with the menu. I'd been wanting to try out The Med ever since finding out it had taken over the spot vacated by the iconic Legend closed up shop in 2021. Located in Irvington, The Med is a new concept from the family behind the beloved breakfast/brunch Lincoln Square restaurants. As I'm a definite fan of Lincoln Square, I was pretty sure I would click with The Med. My actual first impression of The Med came 3-4 weeks ago when I was in Irvington at this same strip center but not quite ready to try it. If you know me, you know that I'm a wheelchair user. I was getting out of my car, but I was a little unsteady on this day. One of the employees from The Med actually saw me and came over to see if I needed help. They were super friendly and I thought to myself "I have to try that place." Tonight, in celebration of a promotion at work I decided to try it. Unlike Lincoln Square (including a location at the opposite end of this same strip center), The Med is essentially a dinner only restaurant that opens at 4pm. It is billed as a Mediterranean restaurant and has a decent variety of options including some you might not necessarily think of as fitting in with a Mediterranean place. There are both hot and cold appetizers, sandwich options, sides, and actual meals. Additionally, they offer beer, wine, and a limited cocktail menu. For this strip center, I usually park in the back as it's simply easier to navigate in a wheelchair. I did try both the front and rear entrances here and they are both wheelchair accessible, though the front door is a bit trickier. There are two different rooms here - a main dining room along with a more adult-oriented area that includes a bar. There's also an outdoor dining option fairly similar to what was offered by Legend. The decor is more of a breezy Mediterranean openness. I had to be a bit careful in the wheelchair, though I was able to get everywhere I wanted. I was greeted fairly quickly upon arrival. I arrived just before 5pm and there were a few diners. I was seated at a four-top. I appreciated this as it gave the wheelchair room. I found the 2-tops a bit small. I will admit I somewhat missed the more intimate style of the Legend, however, I did like this and it was comfortable. I'd previously seen Lasagna on the menu and was pretty sure that was what I wanted. There are some solid Greek options here that I will try in the future and my sense was that even those who prefer a more Americanized ethnic menu could easily be happy here. The lasagna comes with garlic bread. I also ordered my usual unsweetened iced tea. The lasagna was a healthy serving and had a bit of a kick to it. It was spicy, but not overly so. I enjoyed it quite a bit. There were two small slices of garlic bread that I found a tad disappointing. I enjoyed the iced tea and got my always desired refill without having to ask. My server, Sarah, was a highlight. She was friendly, attentive, lightly conversational, but never intrusive. There's a bit of an echo in terms of acoustics here. However, I'd say the noise level was fairly moderate. My meal came in at a little over $20 without a tip. The lasagna is $16 and the meals are definitely a bit pricier than the sandwiches (all of which include fries). If they were packed, I'd imagine that wheelchair access would be a bit more challenging. However, I've always been impressed with the Lincoln Square family and they are pretty conscientious about making things work. I liked the style here along with the atmosphere. The employees I met were friendly and Sarah's service was top-notch. The food was quite good and I would and easily will return. The lasagna was a tad heavy - I enjoyed it and would easily order it again when craving lasagna. However, I'm anxious to try other meals. I'm not quite ready to go with a 5-star yet, though this was a solid 4-star experience for me and I'd definitely recommend a visit for this locally and family owned restaurant that offers a solid Mediterranean option on Indy's eastside. read more

Decided to meet some friends and check out a new place, I lucked out and when they were able to seat me right away outside on their covered patio. They have a wine, beer, and small cocktail list. I decided to try one of their lime margaritas, which was pretty tasty! We had the saganaki, which was very delicious and I loved that they set it on fire in front of us and everything, quite the experience. For my main course I had a tasty gyro, that was very fresh and seasoned well, with delicious taziki, and a side of Greek fries that had a lemony cheesy topping. I'm so glad to have a Greek restaurant in the heart of Irvington! They have a lovely patio space that I would love to come back and enjoy. I noticed they only brought a wine menu though I saw they had other drink options. Hopefully they create a complete beverage menu soon. I appreciate the clearly marked gluten free options on the menu for those that are dining with alternative diets. For food, we enjoyed the caprese appetizer, gyro plate, and chicken shish kabob sandwich. The dinner portions were generous, but I would have preferred 4 pieces of bread for the caprese appetizer to make it easier to share. The Med brings a wonderful upscale dinner option to the Irvington neighborhood. I'm sure it will soon be as much of a classic as it's sister restaurant Lincoln Square! read more

Stylish and cozy and homey, all at once... the blue Greek china and decor gave me wanderlust. We were greeted and seated immediately, and our server was dynamite on the ball -- showed up exactly when we wanted her, always had a smile and a refill ready. The saganaki was presented with flair, and was as good as I've ever had it, with lovely crisp-chewy pita to gobble it up with. The cold dips (tzatziki, hummus, and spicy feta) were delish (and I make ALL of these things at home, often). Maybe add skordalia in future? I haven't had it in ages. I'm recently trying out a pescatarian diet -- mostly veg, with some fish. The mains were quite reasonably priced, so I figured they might not be large... dear gods, WRONG. The crisp-tender walleye *hung over the edges of the plate.* Plus Greek potatoes, and green beans stewed in tomatoes. PLUS, I'd ordered the eggplant roll (hot appetizer) -- which was big enough to be a meal on its own (and ended up being the next day's lunch). Everyone at the table was delighted with their meal... everyone at the table took part of it home. We *waddled* out of the restaurant, utterly stuffed with glorious, delicious food. First time at the Med with friends for Lunch. We ate on the patio, the temp was perfect for it. Our server was very good and did a great job getting food out and refills done. We started with two orders of flaming cheese. It was a nice size triangle piece of pan seared cheese all melty served with pita. I ordered the Pesto Ravioli. It was really good. Great pesto cream sauce. Husband got the Lemon Oregano Chicken with potatoes and beans. The potatoes and chicken were great. He didn't like the beans but I did. We got to sample the Lemon Rice soup it was really good. Dessert was Tiramisu and a Eclair. The tiramisu was alright not the best I've had not the worst. Probably wouldn't get it again. The eclair looked really good but didn't get to taste it. I think we'd be back. We aren't in this area much though. Didn't take any photos. I was just really hungry that day. read more
