This was a pretty good burger and definitely affordable for the size. I got a double with fries, definitely filling. There was a bit of a line, but it moved super quick and the fries were super fresh. I like the seasoning on them, but there were some that were overly seasoned and a bit tough to eat. I'd return! First time but definitely not the last.

It's ok. Small menu. Fast food burger and fries. Nothing wows me. They smash the patty thin. Good flavor. But the whole burger is very messy. Service is quick. You order and get the food right away. They premade everything. Fries were cold. It's very hot inside due to open kitchen. You can stand and eat by the bar table. Price is equivalent of the size you get. It's small portion for burger and fries.

I had to run some errands and passed this small burger shop that stood out to me. It was not hard to miss and cannot be missed with the whole restaurant painted blue. It was very blue outside between regular buildings nearby. It also said American Flavor, European Soul on the window so it got me hooked to try out their burgers. The kitchen staff were busy cooking beef patties and the whole restaurant was very tight and long. Luckily it was not crowded and only had 3 more customers inside standing and eating their food. There were no tables and chairs. There was only a counter with ketchup and napkins. I placed my order with the cashier and surprisingly enough, I did not have to wait for my order to be prepared! I was shocked! I purchased a double beef patty cheeseburger along with fries and the cashier immediately gave me the bag that was next to her on the counter. There were a couple of bags on the counter piled next to each other. I think they prepared the orders and bag them for incoming orders. I never experienced this in my life before so it was very shocking and convenient at the same time to experience the prompt and fast service at Smashy. It was so fast that I got out in no time. This burger joint really reminded me of other burger joints like 7th Street with the affordable prices of a single and double patty burger. The single patty was at $5.99 and double was at $7.99. The fries were $2.99! To my amazement, the burger was still very warmed when I took a bite after my long commute back to my office from the rainy, cold weather. The fries were still standing pretty good after that long commute on the train to my job from Union Square to City Hall. The burger was very cheesy and cooked well done in a good way that did not dry out the beef patties. Beef patties were very tender and juicy. The melted cheese made it even more juicier. The bun was very soft and did not require teeth action. The cashier also offered to put house sauce on the burger so with the sauce and cheese made the burger very good with every bite. The fries were seasoned with this red powder that got your hands dirty. It was worth it though! The fries were very good with just the seasoning powder alone. I did not need any ketchup to go with it. Smashy gave a lot of fries so I was very full from it. I finished every fry. I will definitely be coming here again when I pass by Smashy. It was a fast and good bite to combat my hunger. The fast service and attentiveness just blew me away so I'm definitely passing by this place for lunch.

Stopped by here after my dentist appointment since it was so close. I always saw this place on social media so finally got the chance to try it. For this price, you can't beat the burger that you're getting. Comes in a nice potato bun and it's an enjoyable treat. When I ordered, I got my burger right away. I guess everything is made beforehand and they keep it under heating lamps. I do wish the temperature of my burger was warmer but once again, at this price point, you can't really go wrong I'll be back again

Nice casual spot for a quick bite. There isn't any room for seating, only bar standing. The burgers are kept warm under a lamp before ordering, so they come out pretty quick. I do think they are made pretty soon before though as mine didn't taste stale or anything. Got my burger with the house sauce. Super saucy, flavorful, and a nice bite.

Last Tuesday was brutally hot and after a movie I decided to have a burger at Smashy. I ordered a single burger with cheese. When I mentioned that I didn't like the fries as the spice sprinkled on top wasn't appealing. I was told that I could get it plain too. Naturally I got it and it was tasty. Now I know where I can get the two for rock bottom prices!!!

No place to sit but that's fine, understandable considering location and prices but nice ambiance regardless. very solid burger, tasty, and good value for the money. Fries were crispy and seasoned well but not life changing, but the burger is very flavorful and tasty and staff was friendly that heard my request and executed really well. Will definitely come back again i prefer them over 7th street any day

Delicious smash burgers, super fast service! Can definitely eat 2 burgers given the size. Love the fries too! Great place to stop by when you need something quick and are craving burgers

Great burger. Fast efficient service. Love the pricing too a double and fries for $11 can't beat that for the quality. Really good, juicy burger. Fries were very crispy.

Coming here all I was expecting was a regular smash burger however it was the not the case. Food: Compared to other Smash burger tasting I would say this one was different, How So? Well this is somehow more saucy and also the taste of cheese is more dominant, making everything melt in my mouth. The fries were just great, with great seasoning and texture. (Both burgers and fries were slightly not as warm as they should be) Service: Well it was pretty quick especially how there was a line and people waiting as well so I felt happy getting my food that quick. Ambiance: There are no seatings so you will probably be eating standing up or can walk to Union Square and sit there. (I would probably add some Bar stool to offer some comfort to some guests).

This is just a really good, somewhat unique burger. The smashburger concept has in many senses been overdone, you find them pretty much everywhere now, offering a relatively squashed and small burger for exorbitant prices. The taste blends together after a while. However, smashy burger managed to surpass my usually low expectations for smash burgers significantly. Apparently it's a franchise based in Hungary - and this is their only US location. Quite frankly, I should have expected it to be good, because it they bothered to bring it all over from Hungary to the USA - it's gonna be pretty good. First, price point is reasonable. Paid $6 for a double burger. That's not bad at all, especially in Manhattan (Union Square). Second, it avoids the problem many smash burgers have (being too dry). I ordered it "house-style", which comes with this difficult to identify orange sauce. It was moist and added significant creaminess and flavor without being overwhelming (common in many US restaurants). I can't exactly call this health food, but it wasn't worse for you then it needed to be. Third, service was just comically fast. You order the burger, it comes out pretty much instantly. Not sure you can ask for more from a burger place. Just as a heads-up, there's no real seating or tables in or anywhere near the restaurant, so I'm not actually sure how you're supposed to eat the french fries (you can just take the burger and eat it any way you want - you won't be disappointed!) Anyways, I had a great time and will definitely get this again if I'm in Union Square again.

Two cheese burgers and fries is a good meal portion

We were thrilled to find two seats at the end of the bar when we arrived. As luck would have it, the two gentlemen next to us eventually left, allowing us to slide over and enjoy an even better view of the TV for the rest of the game. I started with a Tito's and club soda, but unfortunately, something seemed off--perhaps the club soda was flat. The drink just wasn't good. To their credit, the bartender took it back without hesitation and was very accommodating. I then ordered a Negroni after the woman sitting next to us highly recommended it. I don't usually drink gin, but this cocktail was absolutely delicious and changed my mind. Since we were there for several hours, we shared an order of zucchini and eggplant chips and happily snacked on them throughout the game. The atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming, with a nice mix of ages and people enjoying the evening. We made sure to leave our bartender a generous tip since we occupied our seats for the entire game. Even though the Knicks didn't pull out a win that night, we certainly didn't leave defeated. I'd happily return for another game, cocktail, and fun evening out. And maybe even get dinner there. Little did I know there was another big room in the ack once you past the restrooms. They were having a thriving business there!

He was constantly busy zippin around but maintained a nice demeanor and made everyone feel welcome! Must orders of mine: the burger! Although small, it comes out piping hot and the fresh white onion between the bottom bun and burger is awesome because it doesn't make the bottom bun soggy and catches all the juices from the actual meat. Love subbing the fries for a Caesar salad! Standout appetizer is the fried zucchini and eggplant with tzatziki-- crispy, hot, juicy and I get it every time!

The…read morepull apart truffle monkey bread was our initial reason for coming, and although the price point was quite steep, I would say it's worth the try. The bread was fluffy and not dry, which I had seen previous reviews say before. Paired with the creamy truffle butter, it had a luxurious mouthfeel. My favorite was the pork chop (cognac, sweet prunes, bacon, rosemary) -- the sweet and soft texture of the prune was melted in my mouth like fat, and the pork was tender, with the rosemary also coming through. The vodka rigatoni was a skip, somewhat bland and one-note, we ended up putting some of the truffle butter and garlic aioli from the fries to make it more flavorful. This was especially in contrast with the spicy shrimp pasta which was much tastier. Also got the strawberry vacherin (strawberry ice cream, meringue, vanilla whipped cream), it was my first time having this dessert. The tartness of the strawberry was great with the fluffy meringue and the sweet ice cream. Service was extremely attentive, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated with moody lighting. Although the space was packed, it didn't feel too loud or crowded. We spent about two hours and didn't feel rushed.

I went on a Thursday night, and the place was absolutely packed. The front feels more like a bar/casual area, while the dining room is tucked toward the back. My reservation was at 10:15 PM, so I actually had a light dinner beforehand and ordered a little lighter than I normally would. I got: - Truffle Monkey Bread ($34.99) - Prime Rib French Dip ($39.99) - Pommes Frites ($13.99) - Banana Split Sundae ($24.99) I thought the prices were definitely on the higher end when I first sat down, but the Truffle Monkey Bread is divine! Honestly, it's probably in my top 3 bread experiences of my life. If you love truffle, butter, cheese, and basically everything good in life, please get this. It comes out slightly warm and is just incredible. I will probably dream about this bread. The French Dip was good, although it was a little too salty for me. If I get the chance to come back, I'd probably try one of their actual steaks instead. The pommes frites were super crispy, basically McDonald's fries but elevated. The Banana Split Sundae was so pretty. I loved how they placed all the little treats around the crevices/imprints of the dish (not sure how else to describe it ). It's huge, though, so definitely don't expect to finish it yourself. I'd recommend sharing it with 3+ people. I was also celebrating an anniversary, and they brought out a strawberry scoop for us. It tasted homemade and really fresh. I could actually see pieces of strawberry in it, which I loved. The restaurant is definitely on the pricier side, and getting a dinner reservation can be a struggle, but I'd absolutely go again if I got the chance. The decor is cozy and upscale, the food was excellent, and the whole place has a really nice atmosphere. My only real complaint was that our waitress kept pushing us to order more, which got a little annoying, especially since we had already ordered quite a bit. Overall: expensive + difficult reservation, but absolutely worth trying. And please get the truffle monkey bread.
