Came back and…read moregot a new unit for myself and my mom barely 2 months ago, and they are already raising the rent on us for both of our units by $100 a month! This feels very bait-and-switchy. When I called the manager to talk about it, she just kept repeating that they were month-to-month, as if that excused it, and that an increase in month 3 and month 8 were normal. That would have been really nice to know before we signed up, especially considering the first time I rented here my rent only increased twice IN SIX YEARS. This has never been their standard business practice until now, and I'm really disgusted to see them pulling this BS on their customers this time around, especially with the economy being so bad and people are barely scraping by. Giving 2 stars instead of 1 because the male employee who works here is always very kind and helpful, and I genuinely DID love this business as it was run very well in the past and its always been very clean and safe, but they took advantage of me this time around and I just really do not appreciate it, especially having previously been a happy, long-time client with only positive experiences before this. Its insulting and takes advantage of both me and my mom during a vulnerable moment in our lives. Once again, another business corrupted by prioritizing profit margins over people. That was until my brother up and moved out of the unit I had subleased to him without notice. I had minimal time to remove the few large items and boxes of mine he left behind. Fortunately, i received a response from the kind people at Storbox the only day I had left before the land lady was going to have everything junked. I feel terrible for forgetting her name but the very courteous, professional woman at Storbox that greeted me was a real life saver. It was late in the day, they were open for 1 more hour and she was able to go over contract details, storage unit sizes/prices and standard grounds procedures/protocols so efficiently that I was still able to return to my new unit within operating hours and achieve my goal of having all my items safely and securely relocated by the days end. There are multiple storage location options in Pasadena but Storbox was the one to come through in my time of need and I can confidently recommend this location without a doubt.

I wanted to make my experiences public to warn others about this business. I found that the door right outside my unit was almost always never locked (the one before the access to my personal unit) and sometimes the front door to the building was wide open. There was trash inside and around my unit from the start (and consistently around in general), and the smell of mildew and marijuana was a constant issue. Carts are not available even after a mention of getting one cheap one (and because they will raise your rent every year with no amenities whatsoever). Communication overall was extremely poor - it took weeks just to get the light in my unit fixed. When I would physically go to the office, 50% of the time there was no one present during regular business hours to address my issues. It appears that the point person Misty is constantly frazzled and the job's responsibilities from her management company is either too overwhelming to handle or she isn't the best person for this job. When I asked about a refund for the eight months of unused portion of my annual payment (because I had moved further away), I learned that they do not offer refunds. There was nothing in the contract stating that unused time for annual payments were nonrefundable. I didn't agree to terms that weren't mentioned to me at all in any way. I offered a 20% "early cancellation fee" from the remaining unused rent owed to me. I attempted three times to end the relationship quickly, fairly, and amicably, but Misty and her management company refused by not responding or reiterating the contract that had no mention of annual term leases in any way. lt's a shame that businesses like this actively choose to go the route through small claims court and negative reviews than to do what's right. In this case, it came down to $665.60 (with the 20% deduction I offered) so you can get a sense of how this business operates. I would not recommend this facility/business based on my experience unless your expectations of a storage unit is at a bare, bare minimum.

The property is well maintained, and customer service hasn't stopped after I signed the lease. In fact, one day there was no parking available near my unit, and Anthony moved his car so I wouldn't have to carry my belongings so far. That small act spoke volumes about how much they care about their customers. This isn't the fanciest storage facility, but it has everything you need: clean, secure, and excellent customer service.
