We have repeatedly encountered unprofessional behavior, including being spoken to in a condescending manner, interrupted, and even yelled at over the phone--making it nearly impossible to voice concerns or ask questions. Additionally, there have been ongoing issues with insurance billing. Despite confirming coverage and accurate information with both of our insurance providers, the office has continued to submit claims incorrectly. When we've tried to bring this to their attention, instead of resolving the matter calmly, we've received harassing and aggressive phone calls--sometimes while caring for our 2.5-month-old baby at home. Most concerning is the unwillingness of the staff to allow communication with a manager or the dentist when we requested help. Threatening to send a patient to collections while refusing to acknowledge or correct their own billing errors is unacceptable. Because of the repeated mistreatment and lack of professionalism, we will not be returning to this office. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and to have billing concerns addressed, not ignored or escalated through hostile interactions.

I explained to the doctor that I had already had an X-ray done and asked if my previous dentist could send the existing X-ray to your office instead. He tries to come across as direct and humorous, but I found the approach unprofessional and uncomfortable. He also seemed more interested in making conversation about my workplace and stocks rather than focusing on the appointment. My main concern, however, was his treatment plan. He recommended a crown for one of my front teeth--an issue another dentist later resolved by simply shaving the tooth slightly, which took only a few minutes and required zero crowns. Dr. Xu also recommended a total of six crowns, which immediately felt like a red flag, especially when he described front-tooth crowns as "jarring" and asked that I pay the full cost of all six upfront in case insurance didn't cover it. My new dentist emphasized preserving natural tooth structure, and that approach fully resolved my problem. Based on my experience, Dr. Xu's recommendations did not align with that philosophy. While I can't speak for the entire office, this encounter left me with concerns about overtreatment. Experiences like this contribute to distrust in dental care--especially in communities already hesitant to seek treatment.
