I am deeply disappointed by the lack of care, professionalism, and administrative competence at this office. My insurance provider directly booked this appointment for me. Yet, after calling me back the staff stopped because they claim they couldn't find my information. I was forced to sit in an open room for 30 minutes, handling their administrative work by calling my insurance company myself while other patients watched. Even after my insurance was successfully verified, I was hit with an astronomical request for $3,000 out of pocket. It felt as though no actual effort was made to work with my benefits. Ultimately, I chose to walk away and I am incredibly glad I did. The very next day, my insurance company reassigned me to a different dental office. That practice effortlessly coordinated with my insurance, completed all the necessary work, and my total out of pocket cost was $0. It is truly disheartening that a healthcare provider would prioritize a massive, unnecessary up front payment over patient care and proper insurance coordination. I am sharing this so others can avoid the same exhausting and stressful experience. Dentist is capable enough but I have called her the "queen of crowns" for years. What broke the camels back was I needed a replacement crown. The post was still intact. Cost was $1800. The moment I entered the office, the the staff was truly amazing. The first five minutes I felt comfortable, and confident I had made the right choice! Everyone as wonderful. They're so unprofessional when it comes to getting you in at your scheduled time, I had to wait 45 minutes for them to take 3 people who came in after me. I ended up having to cancel my appointment cause I had to go back to work since I was doing this on my lunch break. Obviously the staff there didn't care about that though. So if you want a good dentist I wouldn't go here, cause you'll be neglected and not cared for correctly Just got off the phone with them, they were very disgusting on the phone and refused to give me the number to corporate. I had a deep cleaning and crowns. I was told that I had tohave the deep cleaning which cost me over 1100.00 Firstly, I signed a set of paperwork before work was started. Then, I had the crown work, sat up and more forms were put in front of me. I am elderly, did NOT have my glasses on, was told to sign this paperwork that the crowns (over 3400.00) were ONLY warranted for 1 year. I have NEVER heard of any such thing. I complained , and told that that was normal. Now, I do not feel as though the crowns fit properly, I have phoned and no response. I do not know where to turn ?All that money and all of the paperwork that they required. Everyone smiles, for sure! But to their advantage! I should have been told beforehand that I only had ONE year on the crowns. Again, I repeat, they should have told me that prior to the procedure! An office manager phoned me, and agreed, but did NOTHING to solve the problem. Now, where do I turn for assistance? I give 2 stars because I did feel that the dentist was cordial and appeared to be professional. The technicians were also very nice and did alot of the work involved. However, I thought the dentist would be doing alot of the steps for my crowns that the technicians worked on. What a way to waste my dental benefits. I'm new to Florida and needed a new dentist. I was hoping for X-rays, cleaning, exam. I should have been aware....the first thing they asked me was if I've ever had a deep cleaning. After X-rays and exam they told me I needed deep cleaning and they would not do a regular cleaning without first doing a deep cleaning. The dentist Maggie seems extremely competent in her work and is very friendly. The office staff is very friendly as well. Great location for me as it is conveniently near my home. My only fear is being able to afford the extractions and temporary dentures I have insurance but it only covers a couple thousand dollars. I had gone to another dental group in Wesley Chapel. They are actually $500 less and gave me an agreement where after insurance paying $2,500 I would pay $3,000. $1,000 down and 20 payments of $100 deducted from my bank account. My issue was pulling a bad tooth. My insurance covers extractions, from the xrays I can see the roots are straight, but all of a sudden I need to have a surgical extraction. Ok. So 40 for the extraction, wait no.. 40 extraction, 45 for surgical dressing, yep a piece of gauze is 45, and 100 for a dab literally of some gel. I have been going to Smile Design Dentistry in Spring Hill for 2 years now, ever since Coast Dental dropped my insurance. I have found Dr. Bressler to be friendly, professional and compassionate and very knowledgeable. I had one examination and 3 cleanings. Upon my last cleaning, the Hygienist discovered two abscessed teeth. I was referred to an Endodontist for my root canals. Today I went back to Dr. Bressler. She worked on preparation for a temporary double crown and I will return for the permanent crown in 2 weeks. Again, I found Dr. Bressler to be friendly and professional. The office staff is also professional and friendly. I found that Dr. Bressler's prices are better than Coast Dental and she doesn't try to push other expensive treatments off on me. This business is a scam. Trying to double charge for work done. They will charge your insurance then want you to pay cash also. I asked them to verify my coverage before I arrived. They "did". Then they said my insurance did not pay for xrays. When I showed them my coverage brochure they told me it didn't matter. Be very careful of this Smile Design office. I was mandated to have Xrays 6 months ago before they would clean my teeth. Reluctantly I agreed. Today I went in for my 6 month cleaning. They first insisted on a full mouth Xray, I declined. The young, apparently new hygienist said OK and brought me back to the room where she cleans teeth. She then said it would cost me $30 for the cleaning. I said my insurance covered cleaning. She checked, it did, so she crossed the $30.00 off the sheet. Before she could start someone else came in and said Dr. Bressler's policy was to have a full mouth Xray on all patients. That person said if I didn't comply that I could find another dentist. If I can give negative stars I would.. The receptionist Patty is very unprofessional. My mother asked her to verify that the doctor takes her plan days before the visit in which Patty said she would do. The day of the exam my mother asked if the insurance was in network ETC patty responded that she was unable to work on it prior since she was busy. My mother asked her if she can check now prior to being seen since she doesn't want to be stuck with a huge bill. Patty kicked my mother out and when my mother asked to speak with the dentist, patty responded that the doctor will go with anything she tells her. The woman I spoke to made my appointment as an emergency appointment (I was in excruciating pain needing several route canals) for the next day at 3pm. She said to arrive by 2:45. So I arrive at 2:30, (again because I was in so much pain I was praying to be seen earlier) and what do you know their office was closed! I wait around, wait some more, until finally I call and find out that they are not even open on Friday's AND they don't even see adult patients on Friday's!!! WORST DENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. DON'T GO TO SMILE DESIGN. We spent $6,000 on dental work. $2500 of it went to a bridge that has a hole in it and needs to be remade. We do not have dental insurance. The Spring Hill office has posters that say why bridges can cause problems and why individual crowns are better and longer lasting. The bridge was recommended (and made) by another office. The Spring Hill office said they would take over our care and remake the bridge. But they had a new dentist. We met with him and he said he would not have recommended the bridge, as it can cause problems over time, which matched the posters on the wall in the Spring Hill office (literally the posters said crowns are better, bridges cause problems). But he was only there for about a month, so while we spent another $3,000 on root canals, he left for another better job somewhere else apparently and another new dentist came, Maggie Bressler. We told her what the other new male dentist had said and she said she would have recommended a bridge and acted like we were crazy to even ask. THE POSTERS IN HER OWN OFFICE SAY THAT CROWNS ARE BETTER. She told us she "heard about us in the morning meeting" and that she would not remake the bridge but that she would "start over" with us to do the crowns and that the money we already spent would not go towards the new procedures. She was extremely rude and glared at us like we were a virus, when we waited months for this ordeal to be over and just wanted the problem to be fixed, which the Spring Hill office had already agreed to do. Why in the world would we want to go back to someone who glared at us throughout the appointment and made it clear that she was warned about us in some morning meeting? We decided to forfeit the $2,500 and start over at another dentist. I have never had such a crazy, terrible experience at a dentist's office. P.s. I was a patient of Dr. Bressler's. Every visit I felt that I was being rushed to make decisions and in an assembly line. When I had a question I was told I could leave and reschedule. The front office person was very indifferent to any questions, unless they pertained to payment. At the time the credit card I used was doing a promotional and I was told the bill would be presented within the time frame of the promo. It was not. When I had questions (color of the crown and size, I thought it was to big) with regards to the crown, I was told the ONLY option would be a root canal and was referred to another DDS. After the work was finished I was told that the only way the work is warranted/guaranteed is if I go back to THAT OFFICE and have my teeth cleaned twice a year. I chose this dentist for myself and my children. From day one, I had an issue with them over billing me through my insurance. I had to prove with the insurance paperwork every time I went in that they were overcharging me. They had the attitude that I was causing the problem. The office manager (who did deal with this problem occasionally) stated there were too many insurances for her to know who pays what. I even provided them with a list of the schedule for payments. The next problem came when they perceived me inquiring as to what they were doing as "having an attitude." I would simply ask questions and also ask what other options there were, and they would immediately get defensive.This review is not over one singular visit, with my children going as well, this was over a few visits. I did not once walk out of that office feeling as though I had a good experience. This is the type of practice which likes to add on extra services, without asking, without getting permission, and then charge you all of the extra money. It's a great way to get all of the extra cash flow to the insurances and to people who really don't inquire about their dental bill because sometimes dental bills can be expensive. Because I would question where the money was going they did not like me from day one and I could feel that they did not like me from the front office staff early on. The reason I did end up going back the other times was because I had to continue treatment otherwise I would have gone somewhere else earlier, but I was told that I had to go back there. That has since been changed by my insurance due to their behavior. The last visit, they overcharged me once again by $127. When I questioned this, while showing proof I would only owe 50.00, they stated I had an attitude and they were not able to work with me and kicked me out of their office. Literally... kicked me out of their office. The unprofessional attitude of the staff is outrageous. I would not recommend this office to anyone and I am highly suspicious if their billing/treatment procedures are even legal. read more
