They started with Dr. Hage taking my wisdom teeth out , and then Dr. Dina did some quick composite (white colored) fillings to close some gaps for me. They had informed me about ortho being the best the long term plan but gave me alternatives since I needed something with faster results for my bests friends wedding . DO NOT GO HERE. Save yourself the trauma and money. I saw Dr. Hage for a implant of one of my lower front teeth. I was told I needed partial braces to create space, which I had for months before the implant process started (which was fine) . [[HIGHLIGHT]]Honestly the gal who did my braces was wonderful, I feel sorry for her to be associated with this practice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Immediately after the first step of placing the post for the implant, the XRAY noticeably showed it touching the root of my healthy adjacent tooth. I didn't say anything in the moment because what do I know. Once I got to my car I was extremely alarmed to see that same tooth had also shifted dramatically (almost turned inward). I called and was reassured it was "normal". [[HIGHLIGHT]]I began experiencing severe pain, not at the implant site, but in the healthy tooth. Despite multiple follow-up visits and ongoing complaints of pain and instability, my concerns were repeatedly dismissed by Dr. Hage and I was told nothing was wrong and it just needed to "heal".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The tone in these visits came off as an annoyance to him and like he's the professional and I don't know what I'm talking about.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Months later I went through a second procedure to attempt to reposition the post, which ultimately failed and required removal of the post and a then bone graft to fill the hole in my jaw. After two years of all this, I still had no implant, and my main concern now became the constant pain and instability of the obviously damaged tooth. I couldn't bite into solid foods without feeling like it would fall out. I sought second opinions from two specialists, first one also identified an infection in the root of the damaged tooth (which she ended up treating with antibiotics). Both specialists confirmed the tooth is unlikely to recover and will need reconstructive work in the future. DO YOUR RESEARCH! Horrible service here. Dr Hage spreads himself too thin between this location and his other store. He rushes his work and then is dismissive when there is an issue. He may be skilled, but if you catch him on a day when he is busy, he would rather chase the bag than take the time to do quality work. He should be ashamed of himself. Definitely look elsewhere, the dentist is never fun, but this guy will cause you nothing but problems. Would have been better off in TJ for a fraction of the price. I am still a little in shock. I visited Smile Designers on March 7th, 2025. I had comprehensive xrays done. After the xrays I sat down with Dr. Hage for over an hour. My cost after insurance was over $25,000. Most of that hour was spent trying to arrange financing for the dental work. Dr. Hage had multiple finance options through second party financial companies. The deal breaker for me, was when the doctor wanted me to put $100,000.00 as my annual income. I find this unethical and maybe even fraudulent. Recently I asked for copies of MY xrays and they charged me $250. I returned the xrays and got my money back. Maybe this company should be investigated for fraud. Asking your client to inflate their income on an official document just seems wrong to me. I have no idea what his work is like, we never got that far. I am wondering if I should report him. Is what he asked me to do a crime? I don't know. It is unethical, that is for sure! read more

Unpleasant experience. I went in because a small filling had fallen out. After taking X-rays, the dentist immediately recommended a crown that would cost over $500. I agreed at first, not wanting the issue to worsen. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While under anesthesia, I asked what the crown procedure involved--since no one had explained it beforehand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When the assistant told me it involved shaving down the entire tooth, I asked them to stop. The dentist then came in and confirmed the process, and I asked if a simple filling could be done instead. He said no, claiming there were no other options he would recommend. That didn't sit right with me, so I told them I'd think about it. I got second opinions from two other dental offices in San Diego (not across the border), and both confirmed that I did not need a crown. One of them fixed the issue with a regular filling for just $62, and my tooth is perfectly fine now. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff is friendly, but they are not gentle.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The guy that did my x-rays doesn't even set the protective covering over you gently. He just drops it on you. I actually said something to him about that, that it was heavy. I mentioned that because I couldn't believe how he just dropped it on me like I was a doll or something. Then when he put the thing in my mouth to take an x-ray, I was wondering if he knew I was a human and not a plastic doll just shoving it in my mouth all rough hurting me, cutting my gums and lips. I said whoa, and then he said what's wrong and I said you're hurting me. You're just shoving it in my mouth. Then at the end, I took it out myself and told him since you were rough putting it in I just took it out myself. It was also the first time a mouth injection was actually very painful. While the needle was in my mouth and had been in for at least 15 seconds I asked him "are you done yet?" I've had penicillin shots take less time to administer. I've had many mouth injections prior with oral work being done, and that was the first time it was excruciatingly painful. I actually yelled, and that's absolutely ridiculous. Then when I was done getting a simple filling replaced, on the inside of my tooth there's all of the compost from the filling material. I had to take a metal scraper to the inside of my tooth just to scrape all of that off, and I couldn't even get it all off. This dude is supposed to do a crown on me... I would have liked to try this Dentist. Had been assigned this practice by Covered Ca Delta Dental. Made the appt. 3 weeks in advance. Assured they accepted the insurance. Verified with insurance that Dentist was still accepted and part of network. Check in to change the appt. Called and Verified with insurance . Checked a week before to make sure things were in order. On Delta Dental's website , plan is listed as accepted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Two business days before appt , Dentist office canceled saying they do not accept and DELTA DENTAL USA HMO plans[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. What !! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Acted like they could not figure out who booked this appt. though they are a small office.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Very disappointed. Seems like they have yet to up date with Delta Dental for at least 2 years that although they previously were part of the network, they changed Dentists and no longer serve HMO plans. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Something they should have told me day one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Impossible to find another cleaning for this year at this point. X Ray Alert I'll give it 2 stars because they're really nice, and did a good job on making my retainer, but I haven't had any serious work done here. With that being said my latest appointment really spiked a cause of concern. I went in for just a normal check up/ cleaning. The hygienist started me off by saying it was time to do x rays. I told her that I had just done x rays 6 months ago and asked her what happened to those. She said that they still had them, but THEY RECOMMEND GETTING X-RAYS EVERY 6 MONTHS. What? I'm not even a dentist and I know that's absurd, mind you I have perfectly healthy teeth. She tried to reassure me by saying it was covered by insurance, okay? Could care less about the money, what about the radiation exposure? Sure enough I look it up after my appointment and the ADA recommends X Rays every 2-3 years for healthy people. They were just looking to get more money from my insurance and could care less about my actual health, a literal scam. Apparently a lot of dentists do this scam. Also, I've been going here for 2 years and I've never had a fluoride treatment, ADA recommends fluoride treatment 2-3 times a year. Maybe they don't make any money off these so they don't do them, who knows. Don't go here, go to someone who actually cares about your health and teeth. read more

DO NOT COME HERE. I went to a different dentist and he redid his work. I have paid over 8 thousand dollars because he messed up and doesn't want to accept it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He makes you feel like a burden and annoyed every time you bring something up. He barely lets you talk.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a consultation around December, and on January 6th, I went to Smile Designers so that we could start working on my teeth. They told me I needed 6 crowns, 4 on my left side and 2 on my right side. They quoted me 7 K$. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I made the appointment, I had asked if they could work on the 4 crowns because I have a very busy schedule and couldn't afford to take a lot of time off work. They told me the dentist said he didn't have time to work on the 4, they could only do 2, and I said okay.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When I went in there, they did the work, and I thought everything went fine. He worked on my mouth for a total of 45 minutes. I paid around $2,500 that day. I had to go in again that week because my bite was off and my tooth was hurting, so I went in and they filed down the temporary crown. January 6th was on a Monday and on that Friday I started getting unbearable pain that radiated from my upper crowns, to my temple, to my ear. It was the worst pain I had ever experienced in my life, this lasted all weekend. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat, it was so unbearable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since they were closed on the weekend, I called off work on Monday so they could go in and see me. I called them first thing in the morning and explained everything, and they said they couldn't see me because they were fully booked. So they scheduled me for Tuesday instead.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I went in and the dentist re-did the crowns and said that should work, it didn't. I kept getting the pain, I even went to the ER for it because the dentist kept dismissing me and my pain. He said it was going to feel better once my permanent crowns were put in. Well, when I went in to get my permanent crowns they told me I had to pay another $2,500 because the dentist had decided to do the 4 crowns after all without letting me know and that if I couldn't pay for the other 2 then they couldn't put them in. Mind you, I was in so much pain at this point and the dentist had said that I needed the permanent crowns to make me feel better. I paid the money and got the permanent crowns in. The pain did not stop, it kept coming back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I kept going back to the dentist, and he kept dismissing me. I asked him to refer me somewhere else, and he told me no. he said he thought I had Trigeminal Neuralgia, and he would not refer me anywhere else until I went to see a neurologist and get an MRI.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I called multiple other dentists so they could see me, and nobody would see me because they "won't work on ongoing work". Well, I went to my primary, and he put me on nerve medication because he said I did not present any trigeminal neuralgia signs, but he wanted to see what that would do. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I called the dentist and told him this, and he said he still wouldn't give me the referral until I saw an actual neurologist.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told this to my primary, and he sent me to get an MRI and to a neurologist. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The neurologist said the MRI was clean and that it had nothing to do with the trigeminal nerve. I called the dentist, and they finally gave me the referral.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This was going on for 2 MONTHS. On March 7th, I finally went to get my root canals, and the pain disappeared. It is MAY already and my mouth is still not okay. I need another root canal done, but this Dentist does not care about you; he only wants your money. He does not care about doing a good job. The place looks good and fancy but it sucks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The front staff is great.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have spent so much money re-doing the work he messed up. I have been in pain for MONTHS and he doesn't care. The most pleasant dental experience I've ever experienced. Very professional and clean office. Friendly staff and amazing hygienist and doctors. I saw Dr Hage for my wisdom teeth extractions which my previous dentist could not do due to them being "risky". He had me in and out within an hour for all 4 of my wisdom teeth. I felt no pain during the procedure and I had no post op complications whatsoever. I went back for my fillings and crowns with Dr. Dina and she was amazing. She had a very friendly personality and made me feel very comfortable with the whole experience. I've been returning for my hygiene maintenance with their awesome hygienist Mona and I also saw their other hygienist Hanza once at their other location. First of all the have really convenient hours and I was able to make an appointment for the same week and I got an evaluation AND a cleaning before 9AM. The staff is so friendly and professional and the office is really nice. I loved that they let me pick out a movie to watch, I felt less nervous about the whole thing. The doctor was really nice as well and I'm actually looking forward to the rest of my treatment! --------- I had to take a minute to update my review. My cleaning was about 5 mins. No scraping or gum check. Just a polish that wasn't even done well. I could tell she wanted to go home and just rushed through. The Doctor saw my cracked filling and instantly said I needed oral surgery and was told to set up a payment plan with the front before I leave. Then went to a different dentist a few weeks later for another opinion and it was just a repair of the filling and noninvasive. I have been seeing both Dr. Rafie and Dr. Khansari for a little over 5 years. These two are incredible doctors and people. The front office staff is always willing to have a chat as well before your appointment! I went in for an emergency visit because my normal dentist was out of town . Dr. Dina was very sweet and gentle, she explained everything to me thoroughly and showed me exactly what I needed on the xrays and while I was holding a hand mirror . The staff were very efficient in getting me in quickly and I had to fill out some paperwork which is normal considering being a new patient. Then I got to meet the hygienist when I returned for a complete exam , Mona had a very light gentle touch and did not hurt me at all. Dr. Dina did my fillings and I did not feel the numbing shot at all. She was very gentle throughout the procedure . Lastly, I got to have an implant placed by Dr. Hage, he made this scary sounding procedure so comfortable and painless. I cant recommend this professional and fun team enough! Had my braces done here for the second time, when they were taken off I could tell the glue residue was still there, specially on my top teeth was more visible, I let the tech know and he mentioned it tk the dentist, to which he replied that if he removed it I would lose my enamel. I put full trust on him so I left it at that. Came back for another appointment after that to get my retainer and I mentioned again because the outline of the glue was getting dark and looked horrible, he recommended whitening which I just couldn't afford. Currently went to another dental office where I was told how this was a lie and if it was removed right after the braces were removed it would of been a lot easier since it wasn't smooth out like it was now. They replaced a full ceramic crown on my front tooth and it looked very gray in certain lighting situations. They refused to replace it because I accepted the shade (after only seeing it in their lighting). I went to several dentists afterward and they all told me the same thing - that it was possible to get a better match and that is was very bizarre that my last dentist refused to replace the crown without charging me. Since then I have replaced it with a beautiful match at Zakhor dental in LA, and I'm very bitter about wasting so much time and money at Smile designers. I needed extensive work on my uppers and after full xrays Dr Hage and I decided on 3 implants w/a bridge & then a partial. After pulling all my teeth up there he gave me no pain meds and I had a temporary denture that did not fit, even after after 4 or 5 tries, it never fit right. I was in so much pain from that thing not fitting that I couldnt even bite into a piece of soft white bread, no fruit, only top ramen & scrambled eggs! for 9 months! I finally convinced him that i was in serious pain and so he gave me 5 vicoden. Well that didn't really help after 2 days. It was supposed to take 4 to 6 months and it took 9 months. When he finally got the bridge and partial I couldnt believe what he put in my mouth. the partial is plastic, which is absurd and the bridge is cemented on to the upper middle part of my mouth except it doesnt go up to the gums like it should. food gets caught up there all the time which causes disease, and I always have bad breath!! $14,000... Do not go there if you need anything like that. He lies to you, he takes forever and he ripped me off as far as I'm concerned. I did manage to get $2500 back from him. I made an appointment to meet Dr. Leila Khansari in order to address some dental problems. The clinic admitted me to the treatment area for xrays and a cleaning. Afterwards, a different dentist (Dr. Rafie) who I did not agree to meet attempted to treat me without my permission. My problem was not adequately addressed, he pressured me to undertake an unnecessary and expensive procedure that i refused. Dr. Rafie did not have my best interests in mind or heart. He really felt like a used car salesman that tried to rip me off. I regret reaching out to this dental clinic for help and I will not return. read more

Worst dentist I have ever been to. Spent $1700 on 2 crowns and after a month of misery I am still in pain. My experience this time was an unfortunate one. I arrived early for my appointment and was promptly and amicably greeted by the doctor and told that I would be attended to shortly. At 2pm, the time of my appointment, three female employees returned from lunch through the front door, only one acknowledged me. Then the secretary informed me that I would be attended to shortly. Shortly thereafter, I was brought back by an assistant or hygienist (didn't introduce herself) and shown my chair. I waited there for 15 minutes before I final got out of the chair (with my bib) and walked to the lobby to let them know I am still waiting for the dentist. After returning to the chair, the dentist appeared. The work began with no explanation of the procedure. I had to ask what was going to take place. A couple of the procedures took place and finally I was ready for the Zoom whitening treatment. The assistant again began working, without explaining the procedure. After the first of four 15-minute whitening sessions, I complained of a burning sensation in the gums. She informed this was normal. If it's so normal, she should have explained this all to me beforehand. After the second 15-minute session, I complained of soreness in the teeth and shooting pains. Apparently this was normal too. Again, I was somewhat skeptical. After all work was completed, I went to the counter to pay and was charged $150 more than I was quoted over the phone. I was very detailed when I called and took notes and now this quote was incorrect. They chalked it up to a misunderstanding and I was very disappointed. Long story short - if you get Dr. Dina as your dentist and Mona as your hygienist; RUN. I hadn't been to the dentist in a few years and as a result I had 3 new cavities and 2 old fillings that needed to be replaced. I scheduled my appointment for a week in August that I had class. This was important, as I wouldn't have to miss any work. They didn't want to do all of my dental work in 1 sitting, so they scheduled me for Tuesday and Thursday. Totally understandable. On Monday afternoon they called to tell me my Tuesday appt would have to be cancelled. I explained the importance to them of me getting my work done on this particular week, as I was in class and wouldn't have to miss any work. They said it would be ok for me to get everything taken care of on Thursday. Great. I go in on Thursday and was immediately called out by the hygienist Mona for scheduling so much work to be done in one day. Um, you guys cancelled my Tuesday appointment literally one day before the date. Dr. Dina came in and said I was very lucky to be getting worked on by the "dream team." What happened next was literally the worst dental experience of my life. I was shot with anesthetic 6 times into different parts of my gums and they still couldn't get it right. There was 1 filling that I was in agonizing pain for the entire time. But at that point, ya know, after having a needle inserted into the nerve in my jaw 6 times I just said YOLO, these people aren't gunna get it right. Especially after just signing a release saying I wouldn't hold them liable for any permanent nerve damage as a result from the anesthetic. They dropped multiple things on the ground during the procedure. I had too many things inserted into my mouth at the time to see what they were, or if they eventually made it back into my mouth (I really hope they didn't.) For some reason they didn't bring all the tools and instruments they needed to their table, so Dr. Dina kept having to send Mona to grab what they had forgotten. Towards the end when they were putting the fillings in Dr. Dina let Mona go admit someone that was just coming in. After that Dr. Dina was attempting to keep my mouth dry with suction (very important when putting the filling compound in the mouth as the mouth has to be completely dry) while simultaneously trying to put the filling compound into my drilled tooth. She was obviously struggling and at one point I told her that I couldn't believe she was attempting to do this by herself. She promptly called Mona back after that, go figure. Not to mention these two also dropped gauze pads and other assorted things down my throat multiple times, causing me to gag and one time literally almost vomit. These two felt like students. The JV squad. Amateur hour. Not the people you want working on your mouth. I can't judge the entire office based on my one (and only) experience at this dentistry office, but I'll say the same thing I said at the beginning of this review; if you get Dr. Dina and Mona, RUN!!!! read more

My appointment was June 2011. I came here with a Groupon for my 6-month dental check up and cleaning. THANKFULLY (after reading these reviews) I didn't listen to all the rigamarole these places give you about invisaline, whitening, and filling replacement. The cleaning they gave me was unlike anything I had ever experienced. It was all done by a machine and water, no traditional hygienist scraping off the plaque. Trouble is, my teeth still felt unpolished or "dirty" when I left. I went back and complained, they re-cleaned my teeth (using the same method). The lobby is overly nice for being located in a strip mall: marble floors, huge ornate picture frames, a lot of over the top furniture that reminds me of a Vegas plastic surgeon's office. In the chair, they ask you what movie you want to watch, and a little monitor hangs right directly over your head and you watch the movie while they're in your mouth doing god-knows-what. The art of distraction had me skeptical and nervous. Finally, this month, I wanted to buy replacement whitening gels for the trays I already have at my house. As a prior patient, I called to see the price (expecting about $10/tube, which is typical but I've also seen it cheaper.) Excuse me!! **$85** for 4 tubes. Those gels must have been what paid for the over-done lobby. With a groupon, I suppose the cleaning I had back in June was fine, but I won't be back to spend real money at this place. And I recommend Sunny Smiles dental if you want to get whitening trays. Or any other ol' place with a ... wait for it ... Groupon. read more

This has been my dentist for years, and I really love them! Great customer service! My cleanings are quick and thorough, and I love how they send reminders via email and text message.
