Very disappointing. Their policy with insurance is a bait and switch. Told me they "take" my insurance and got me to consider switching dentists, even made an appointment. When the date approached, emailed me that even a simple cleaning would have a $200+ copay, because Aetna isn't "in network;" (but NO ONE'S insurance is in THEIR network, so that "patients can make their own choices ??) then, even tried to get me to sign up for their "Smile Club"--with a large monthly fee, as though I was going to Costco. Finally, when I brought the deception to their attention, they tried to gaslight me. Reprehensible. Not smiling. read more

As long as I live in Columbus I will never leave this office or the staff. You walk in and can see and feel the tight nit office family that exists. From the office staff up front, the hygienists, and the doctors. While waiting today, I saw one of the doctors help out the staff up front with an issue on the computer; the doctor even came back to check on them! The doctors will personally call to check in on you the day after a simple cavity feeling. Smile Hilliard welcomes you into their family while you're there. I cannot say enough about this practice, and about this dentist; Dr. Sanyak. She is very professional, efficient and personable! As a patient with many issues, it has been refreshing to actually fully trust Dr. Sanyak's approach to my care. Upfront with my care plan and cost, it has been easy to work on my issues and take care of them swiftly. She does it all, simple cleanings, root canals, extractions, bridges, cavities and I'm always surprised how painless it is. This office even has a Care Menu, complete with blankets and Netflix! I'll start by saying that I have been going to Smile Hilliard for 2-3 years now. My initial experience with them was wonderful. Everyone was kind and professional. Last year I had questioned why I'm being charged nearly every visit when some of the visits were just routine care. So today, April 17th, 2019 I went in knowing they would be doing x-rays. I stated I did not want to receive my x-rays (which by law is my patient right). Dr. Rachel Sanyk and my hygienist were in the room with me. Dr. Sanyk asked if my concern was the cost, which I responded yes and explained that I wasn't sure why I was being charged for the x-rays when they are supposed to be part of routine care. Dr. Sanyk stated that her standard of care is to not only do x-rays of the molars but also frontal teeth, which is not always covered by insurance. She stated that if I did not want the x-rays then maybe she wasn't the best fit for me as a dentist. I fully respect setting a high standard of care for patient's since I'm an ICU nurse. However, today I was given and ultimatum. Either I receive the frontal x-rays and pay for them out-of-pocket or I find a new dentist. Needless to say, I'm finding a new dentist. It is a providers job to make recommendations for patient's, it is not their job to force these treatments or diagnostic testing. Because I refused my frontal x-rays, they would not even provide a cleaning. I'm very disappointed that this was the way it was handled. read more
