The first encounter I had was with lollie I believe she said her name was. She was laid book and very reassuring. Took some x-rays. Then told me the dr would be going my cleaning and exam (usually ppl have a dental hygienist) that made me feel better that the dr was doing everything. Anyway turns out I needed a deep cleaning and a cavity filled had to pay a little out of pocket but that wasn't a problem . I really thought it would be worse than what it was makes me less nervous since I have to go back two more times. I'm glad I picked this place. So I contact this office and it all started great. Then the receptionist started questioning the validity of my insurance. Their version of course makes it sound innocent... I asked her when she started asking for information if I could provide her with my member number and group number. She takes a pause. Then she says "huh"... In my head I'm like what's wrong? She's like is this a PPO? So I asked can you not see the information with the numbers I've provided. She's like give me a second. Then is like I think I'm gonna have to call your insurance. So I asked is there a problem. She's like I don't know yet. Are you sure it's a PPO? I'm like I have the card in front of me and I know what I elected and I pay for it but I went along with it. All I'm saying is, who has time for all the back and forth. I bypassed 5 other dentists offices in the area according to the healthcare app and decided to try this office. They get pissed when a client isn't ready with info. Then they get one who is (because I'm busy also) and they still make it difficult (receptionist) and then make it seem like I'm the problem with a note about Whiskey and praying for me?!? Okay got it! So please don't send me nasty messages about my rating. Again, that alone shows the level of service...

The website reflects well the vibe of the office -- and the office is beyond any expectations I've ever had for a dentist. The entire place is impeccable clean, well-organized and, despite being on the basement level, bright. To top it all off, additional amenities like back massagers and ceiling-mounted TVs are available while you're in the chair. But really, the best part is the staff. Every single person I interacted with at the office was kind, courteous, and transparent about what was going on at all times. When I first met Dr. S, I was struck at just how personable she was. In a time where healthcare can feel hasty and cold, Dr. S stands out as a practitioner who is truly interested in her patients and will take the time to have a meaningful interaction with you. During our visit, she proactively made me of aware of trouble spots to keep an eye on and offered a some new tips and tricks on dental care that I hadn't known before. All this to say: amazing care! The QPD has it all, I am glad I'm able to see an specialist and also get regular cleanings. I'm happy with how the entire staff handles transparent communication with fees and recommendations. They offer payment plants and advice on how to proceed with whatever it is you need done. They will also contact your insurance for estimates. The offices are spotless, bright, and filled with natural plants that make going to the dentist less stressful due to the environment. I was able to enjoy the massage chair during my visits & even got to pick what I wanted to watch on the TV to distract myself from what I needed done. The experience is worth the price. Definitely recommend.

She took a great time to explain to me what is she doing and what are the causes of some issues. She really took good care of me. Yesterday, I visited Dr Richard Manuelian. It was great! I didn't feel anything, super quick, no pain, literally nothing. He took the time to explain to me what was going on and what would be the best next move. My insurance doesn't even cover this office but they are so great at what they do I cannot go elsewhere. Nina always goes above and beyond to make you feel welcomed. Dr. Varone is amazing as well. Dr. Liss and everyone at Upper East Smiles provide such a warm, reassuring environment. I was so…read morenervous about my gum graft surgery (which required tissue from both sides of my palate to thicken tissue under 5 teeth). I compared so many options in NYC, and even other states and outside the US. Two weeks after my gum graft, I feel confident that I made the best choice. I knew beforehand that the surgery wouldn't be covered by insurance, and truth be told, it wasn't cheap--but it was worth every penny for this level of care. The entire time, I knew I was in good hands. There was the option to watch Netflix or other platforms before and during the procedure, though in the end I switched to just music. (You can even choose the music if you want.) I'm so grateful to Dr. Liss, who really rooted me on and made me feel seen and cared for, and even called me that evening to see how I was feeling. I'm told this is probably the only graft I'll need, and it sounds like this investment will enable me to keep my lower front teeth another 40 years. If I need any other procedures in the future, it'll be a relief to know I can go back to Upper East Smiles. (I rarely write reviews, but the reviews made a big difference in helping me figure out where to go--I hope this review helps someone in a similar situation.)
