Updated July 2025: Just had the best teeth cleaning visit with the hygienist, Jackie. She used a new device called the AirFlo Prophylaxis Master. This device is really state-of-the-art in the cleaning experience. The treatment entails using air, warm water (not baking soda) and some fine powder to remove plaque and harmful biofilm. It feels so good on the gums and teeth. Jackie implemented a special pre-cleaning check, using a stain to see which areas that might require extra attention. With this new device, any hidden plague or other perio issues are taken care of, along with Jackie's superb skills. It was like a spa treatment for my mouth! I've never felt so relaxed during a cleaning. Highly recommend. read more

This guy is a joke. I was recommended here by another provider back in 2018/2019 who was also a part of the circus. Before any services began, I had made it clear to him that I never had a gap in between my two front teeth but he decided upon himself to make a flipper that not only did not match the rest of my color & was putting pressure on the adjacent tooth but also had a gap. When I asked for him to correct it, he extended the flipper making it look even more hideous. I started my Invisalign treatment to correct the space which caused the flipper to not fit (never did to begin with) and his only suggestion was to paint the missing tooth in my Invisalign and charge me to adjust the flipper or shave down the tooth and put it in my Invisalign. I asked him how was I going to eat and the genius said to eat with the Invisalign on which is a big no. I wasted about $500 here and ended up having to go to another spot to get a decent flipper but hey thanks for completely destroying any confidence I had left and maybe stop having the office light dimmed & you would be able to give your patients the right color edit: forgot to mention he kept the flipper as well read more

I've been to many dentist offices and Fred and his team are by far the best. The staff is absolutely charming and welcoming with every check in call, appointment reminder and visit. I feel comfortable to ask questions and call whenever I need assistance. WOW! I returned to Dr Stange after 7 months for my usual bi-annual cleaning and check up - a little late due to Covid. I was so impressed with the whole set up. The high quality perspex screens and air filter in the foyer were just the beginning. When I got into the chair Wilfrido the dental hygienist, who is a rock star, showed me the new 3D high definition scanning they have added to the practice. It took 5 minutes to build a complete 3D image of my mouth in high def and infra red with measurements so accurate they can detect any teeth / gum wearing during subsequent visits by comparing images - even better this was part of the overall service and not an added service. The image is so accurate it can be used to prepare mouth guards and retainers without requiring a cast to be taken. If that wasn't enough, Wilfrido showed me a new mouth vacuum designed to reduce aerosol and which sits comfortably inside your cheek and keeps your mouth open with no stress on your jaws during the cleaning. I kept thinking to myself why this wasn't around years ago. It is such a simple and effective device. When Dr Stange came in for the check up he asked me about the mouth vacuum. When I told him it was great he told me that he had designed and patented it!! I hope this device ends up as standard in all dental practices. Usually you don't really feel like going to the dentist - you know it's gonna be expensive and painful. When I first visited Fred these were my initial feelings. I went for a cleaning first, which was great then he checked out my teeth with digital X-ray to see if I have cavities - unfortunately I had one on my front tooth. Fred explained me everything - what's he's gonna do, how it's gonna work - then I got anesthesia and an I-glass to watch movies while was working on my cavities. I watched the first half of Hitch and we were done. Then we adjusted my bite to make it absolutely perfect. He also needed to do some cosmetic stuff on it since it's visible - the result was that nobody can notice the filling and when I touch it with my tongue - I don't feel it... I usually don't write reviews about dentists, but when I moved to the city over 5 years ago, I needed a new dentist and on recommendation of my partner, I made an appointment with Dr. Stange's office. Aside from having a very professional, warm staff, I was won over because I had a problematic crown that my previous dentist suggested that I have completely extracted, but Dr. Stange was able to not only save the tooth, but took such care to have it sit properly within the gums. I first started going to Dr. Stange after a I experimented with a few random dentists around NYC. One pushed teeth whitening, the other used outdated equipment...I just felt like I was never gonna find one that a) took my insurance and b) wasn't in a rush and c) was good at what he/she did!! I found Dr. Stange as a reference from a coworker....he actually recommended his partner, Dr. Zadik, but to this day, I never even met Dr. Zadik, and I don't care if I do.....The whole experience at the office is amazing....I love Dr. Stange, he takes his time, explains things well, and all that.....BUT on top of that, the dental hygienists and the front desk are probably the nicest people I have ever met. Additional pluses are free wifi, bananas, and email/sms reminders. The most important part is my teeth have never been in better shape. I started using the sonicare product, which I was skeptical of at first, but I haven't had a cavity in 3 years... Dr Stange is skilled, patient and caring. I was referred to him for extensive cosmetic dentistry due to TMJ. He made me eight crowns for all my lower molars. The initial procedure required seven hours sitting in the dentist chair. Getting dental work is never fun but Dr Stange made it as comfortable as possible. He was very responsive and gave me as much Novocaine as I needed to ensure I felt as little pain as possible. He even had glasses that allowed me to watch movies during the long procedure. Days and weeks after the procedure, Dr Stange personally followed up with me several times to make sure that I was feeling fine. I became a patient of Dr. Stange as my longtime dentist was transitioning out and merged his practice with Dr. Stanges'. I live in Westport CT and thought if this Dr. Stange isn't awesome I'll find someone in CT. My review after seeing him for a year is that he totally worth the SCHLEPP!! OH and he makes crowns and colors them in his office. NO 3 weeks waiting!!! He's an artist with color. I'm in fashion and was blown away at how well he matched the color. I read the other reviews and am glad they had good experiences.... I did not. During the two procedures he did I was burned with an acid type substance he was using, one cause a hole in my gum and tooth and the other a blister on my lip. He was passively apologetic. After my cleaning Fred (he encourages being called by his first name) checked in from the doorway and sped off... when I was asked by the hygienist if my questions were answered, i said no and I was shuffled off. His responses to requests for information were empty and any real response was like pulling teeth. The office is lovely, that's true, bananas on the counter and perfume in the bathroom are nice touches and the staff has perma smile. I would rather have a competent experienced dentist over a well choreographed set. If you want a cosmetic chiseled barbie smile, he seems to be okay at that, for any real work he does not know his stuff. Although he says the right things with his Dale Carnegie approach beneath the masks there is no real concern for client health, just client dollar. I've been going to Dr Stange for three years now and couldn't be happier. His practice is a huge step above your typical NYC dentist. You notice the difference the moment you walk into the waiting room, which is well appointed, and you are greeted by two helpful and very competent receptionists. Dr Stange himself is different from other dentists in that he genuinely cares about the health of his patients and clearly spends a lot of time and money on making sure he is up to date on the latest in dental technology and practices. I broke my front tooth when I was 11 years old, and it has been fixed a few times, but I have never been happy with the result. I had been putting it off for years since it hurt so badly last time it was fixed, but I really wanted it redone for my wedding. Dr. Stange talked to me extensively about his plan to make it look natural and the process pain free. I was extremely nervous, but he did not let me down. My tooth looks perfect and matches my other front tooth exactly. Most importantly, the procedure was pain free. Dr. Stange and his staff are professional, welcoming and go the extra mile to ensure that you have the smile you desire. After speaking with Dr. Stange on the phone at length, I decided that I wanted him to make porcelain veneers for me. I trusted that he would be able to provide me with a natural smile based on his skills as a cosmetic dentist, artist and photographer. He worked in conjunction with my orthodontist, Dr. Meier in Florida to do all of the pre-planning so that when I arrived in New York for my appointment on a Friday, he was able to prep me for the veneers, design them, make them and put them in on Monday. It was a seamless process, and the end result was more than I could have ever hoped for. In addition, he gave me a filling for a cavity, made a night guard to help me with my TMJ all in 2 visits. He continues to work with my orthodontist in Florida to ensure that my TMJ is treated successfully. I would highly recommend him for general dentistry as well as cosmetic dentistry.
