My few visits have been great with smiles until recently. I prepaid for a crown MONTHS ago. This was $653 dollars. I scheduled an appointment for my boyfriend at smiles so he could have a checkup and he needed fill ins. We both have the same insurance plans which is why I recommended Smiles. My most recent visit informed me that when he came in for his appointment, not only did they "forget" to tell him our insurance is no longer in network, they also used MY $653 credit towards his bill. Why would they wait after I drove an hour to tell me that my insurance wasn't in network? Mind you, they confirmed my appointment and I was told they even put a note in my account. Was common courtesy not thought of? No resolution was offered, instead they said sorry and handed me a new bill. This man is not my husband, he is my BOYFRIEND. Why was the money I PUT IN MY ACCOUNT, put towards someone else's bill, boyfriend or not. I am out of $653 dollars, drove an hour and no one told us our insurance wasn't covered? I also had access to all of his information, treatment plan etc. Is that not a HIPPA violation? read more

We moved here and needed to a new dentist that wouldn't torture my wife and would keep me from wanting to bleach my teeth to dust. We got a flyer in the mail with a coupon for a free fluoride treatment. First impressions go a long way with me. The office space is so immaculate and inviting. The warm Earth tones makes you feel warm inside. If I must be honest, it's the staff that makes the experience wonderful for me. Maria, Melba, and Sonja have been my go-to ladies from day one. When I needed to figure out a plan to get my wife in they worked with me. If you are a fear of the dentist I suggest seeing this group. FRAUD! BEWARE of illegal billing practices! Manager is inexperienced with billing. Breaking contract agreement with insurance provider and forcing me the patient to pay the difference. I have filed a formal complaint about Katherine, Practice Manager and the billing department for illegal balance billing practices to the Dentistry Board, Department of Health and my insurance provider, Delta Dental and Cigna. The office is practicing illegal billing. I spoke with the practice manager and told her that she was overcharging me, essentially balance billing what my insurance provider did not pay. I told her that was illegal. She was breaking her contractual agreement with my insurance provider, Delta Dental. She said I signed a financial acknowledgment stating I would pay the difference. That document is only binding if I am a cash patient or if a procedure is not under the terms of agreement with the insurance provider. On top of my concerns, the charges that were supposed to be applied to my account were posted under other patients. When I brought that up, it was excused with being an insurance issue and that it would resolve itself once the bill was sent to insurance for payment. Still not listening to me because she thought she was right, she overcharged me for my two crowns and made me pay the full amount otherwise, she would reschedule me until I could make the payment. She handcuffed me to overpay for treatment. Praise God I had the funds to pay. What if I didn't. I'd still be stuck with temporary crowns. I've made several attempts to rectify the situation, even created my own billing excel sheet to show the refund amount due to me. I matched the EOBs and ledger she provided me with the EOBs I reviewed with my insurance provider. Unfortunately, the charges on her end still doesn't add up to the patient responsibility noted with my insurance plan. Her staff follow her unknowingly. Maritza, Genesis, Arthur, Asia and Dr Hernandez all great. They are entering the correct codes for treatment. The downfall is the billing. I cannot continue to be seen by an office who is supported by an inexperienced manager. She claims to have seven years of experience and yet she couldn't understand balance billing. She is inept and lacks knowledge and I know she will overcharge other patients again and again despite it being illegal. read more

Dr Osman and Sophia are AWESOME!!! The front office staff and Office manager, not so much. After 2 visits, one for me and one for my son, the front office failed to call me back to provide me with the requested information. The first time occurred on 27SEP the day after my son's regular exam. I called 3 times asking for information. Each time I was told that they are going to find out for me, which should have raised a flag, since it was evident that each time I spoke to someone different each person was hearing my question for the first time. Finally, after no one getting back to me, on 27SEP I called again for the 4th time and insisted the person put me on hold while she look for an answer. I finally received an answer but it really should not be that hard. Yesterday, 03OCT, I was seen for my regular check up/exam and Dr Osman referred me to an Endodontist. I asked him if he happened to know if that Endodontist was in my network for insurance purposes. He said he did not know but if it turns out that the Endodontist was not in my network that he would find someone that is in my network. As it turns out, the Endodontist he referred me to was not in my network. So I did as he offered and called the Smiles Front Office (03OCT at 3:20pm time stamp according to my cell phone). The person I spoke with said she would find out and get back to me. The next day, 04OCT at 1:08pm, since no one called me back, I contacted the Smiles Front Office. Taylor answered and I explained to her that I needed a referral for an Endodontist that is in my network. She proceeded to inform me that she has no way of finding out that information and that it would be easier if I called my insurance company for a referral to an Endodontist in my network. Which I understand but I tried to explain to her that Dr Osman assured me that he would find an Endodontist that was in my network if I could not find one. She proceeded to tell me the same thing she said earlier like a robot and would not acknowledge the fact that it was Dr Osman who told me to call back. Once again she repeated the same thing and finally she handed me to the office manager who was of no help. I ended up telling her that I wanted to sever my relationship with Smiles and she did not care one bit and simply asked if I wanted to cancel my two appointments that were scheduled for a later date. Talk about being insensitive and lack of empathy. I feel horrible for leaving because Dr Osman and Sophia are ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!!! But if the front line staff doesn't care about my business I will happily go somewhere else. read more

I have gone here since it opened, and had several thousands of dollars worth of work done, one of my crowns popped off on Halloween, I called made an appointment went in and the staff is all new as well as the Dentist, was told they don't take my insurance, which they had my insurance listed on their front desk, asked to speak to the Manager she was very rude and told me to leave, have never been treated like this, she said I was rude, but it was her that was the rude one, would not even give me a chance to speak left me with a tooth exposed and having to find a new Dentist, bad customer service all around. Nightmare scammer, run don't walk My experience at this dental office was literally a nightmare. On the day of my appointment, they texted me that they could take me early. I live quite a distance away, but I was able to arrive 10 min early. Instead of prior to my appt thru texts or email, they instead gave me paperwork to fill out. 15 min after my appointment time they took me back and I met my hygienist. She said since I was a new patient, I needed a full set of X-rays. I told her that I just had them done and that my dentist could send them via email today. She said I would have to reschedule my appt then (1st red flag). She then told me the appointment would be 90 min which no one informed me even though I received multiple reminder calls and texts. At this point it's 20 min past my appointment start time. (2nd red flag). She proceeds to take my X-rays and has me biting down on the metal part of the X-ray film holder and she is balancing this X-ray film holder on the upper roof of my mouth and my tongue-strange! (3rd red flag). Then she proceeds to measure my gum pockets which have been 2-3s with an occasional 4 in the recent past, and she starts calling out multiple "5s w/ bleeding" because she is poking my gums so hard that she is piercing them until I have a mouth full of blood (4th red flag). Then does some 3D images of my teeth while shoving the probe down the back of my throat (5th red flag). She proceeds to tell me that I have severe periodontal disease and bone loss and that I need periodontal cleanings (planing and scaling) every 90 days for the rest of my life and that all of my fillings are cracked and need to be removed because I grind my teeth. I tell her that I have gone to the dentist every 6 months since I was a kid and have never been told any of this. She says this happens all the time and the periodontal disease has been progressing for years. (6th red flag). She still has not cleaned my teeth and tells me that I need to talk to the dentist and while waiting the office staff give me an estimate of over $1K for the next year of cleanings. (7th red flag). I am sitting there thinking why am I at this scam artist? After 10 min of waiting for the dentist and being there for 90 min without a cleaning, I decide to get up and walk out. I am an RN (which they knew), and I have never been treated like this as a patient ever! DO NOT GO TO THIS "DENTIST OFFICE." read more

I have been going to them for about a month and they are absolutely wonderful! All of the staff are great, from the office staff to the cleaning techs. Dr. Osman is so kind and considerate. WARNING DO NOT go to this dentist!!!! I moved from Jax beach to st Augustine so needed new dentist. Went for cleaning and this is what happen-They use this new scanner and claim they can see things X-ray doesn't show. They take an hour to do X-rays, pictures of your teeth and the scanner then tell u that u Hve to come back for cleaning. They told me I need deep cleaning when I did not and wanted to do $3520.00 worth of work. Funny my dentist I saw at my last check up told me I had nice teeth. This doctor (Dr. Osman) and his staff are incredible! I will never go anywhere else! They work really well as a unit. My daughter has very high anxiety to the point where she will not even let her pediatrician swab her mouth when she is sick and tends to have complete meltdowns at the thought of it. They were able to take xrays - and calm her down (without the use of gas or drugs) to the point where they drilled on her tooth (small cavity) without even one tear. Great people. Extremely patient. I have been coming to this dentist for approx. one year now, I can say that being a military member using TRICARE coverage has been very smooth. Everyone from the receptionists, dental hygienist to the doctor's customers service are outstanding and professional! Especially Sophia Protopopov, Registered Dental Hygienist takes her job to the next level. She does amazing work in cleaning teeth and great advice to continue my dental care. Unfortunately I have to now edit and change my rating after months of horrible communication. I was a patient there and had work done (cap) when I changed my insurance I told them and they said they do not cover it. My cap fell out recently and I returned there to have it put back (courtesy) when I left they asked me about my insurance and said they always accepted it I was misinformed. I didn't know that so I said great I'll come back to you then, I made an appointment and left. A month or two later I get a bill for $44 for the visit. I called them and asked saying my insurance was good. They said it was but didn't know why it was not paid for that visit (which I thought was free) I called my insurance and they informed me the billing department put the wrong code in that it was suppose to be a code for an emergency or repair visit they put it in as a regular visit. I called and spoke to them several times and asked them to call the insurance several times to see what that code is. They refused and I asked for the dentist to call me but he never did. They called to ask about another appt last week and I reminded them no one had called me back and that my insurance company was waiting to pay the bill and said I should not get any bill. I was already upset they told me my insurance was not accepted when it is and that they won't talk to the insurance company to rectify it and that the dentist won't call me.. and then on top of it they just put me in collections for $55 which is ridiculous... they office staff just have changed and service is horrible and here's my original review which now I've edited to reflect the real service they are giving these days .... read more

Worst experience I've ever had with a dentist. The dentist went to numb my mouth but was too busy looking away and having a full conversation with the dental assistant that he stabbed me in the lip with the needle and then proceeded to tell me that it was my fault because I was moving even though I was laying down completely still on the reclining chair. After he numbed my mouth he left the room saying he would be back once the numbing kicked in and was then gone for over an hour to assist another patient. While he was gone the dental assistant kept coming in to check on me and was also trying to start a conversation to make me feel better because I'm sure that's she knew how long I was waiting was absolutely ridiculous. Once he finally came back he started operating on my teeth within 30 minutes into him operating I was in extreme pain because the numbing had worn off. The doctor got irritated that I kept having him stop because of how intense the pain was and gave me another numbing shot. The operation done by him was completely done wrong and later had to be fixed by another dentist costing more money when it should have been done right the first time. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate I've never had such a terrible experience with licensed doctors. read more

So I finally went to the dentist after entirely way to long, and shocking news everyone I am in need of thousands of dollars of dental work!!! And I mean it is so bad that they broke it up into 4 different sections and only showed me the cost of the first 2 which were the least costly. Long story long, the day before my appointment last week I get a phone call from my hygienist stating that "she has something to do the next day and needs to reschedule my appointment if possible." I am like ok, really don't have a choice, so today comes and I'm all set, I walk into the office, wait a few minutes for an associate to finish with another person, only to be informed that, "oh sorry, we sent a text message to this number saying that the hygienist will be 20 minutes late." I'm sorry what? You sent a text message to my wife's phone number and that is suppose to be sufficient notice? And you call me at the end of the day to ask if we can move my appointment in the first place? Thank you for the "notice," guess you guys do not have children at home due to Covid and had to make arrangements for your spouse to take a whole day off from work and then less than 24 hours before change the appointment, and then are more than 15 minutes late to the rescheduled appointment? If I tried that wouldn't I be charged a LATE cancelation fee???? So sorry Smiles, I will not be spending what is equivalent to a down payment on a nice car at your practice. Thank you for not wasting anymore of my families time or money. read more
