Please read before choosing this office--my experience raised serious concerns about how financial documents are handled. I had a concerning experience with Smiles by Hanna involving financial and documentation issues. During my visit, a loan was opened in connection with my treatment. Based on the documents I have, the loan was opened without my co-signer's identification or signature at the time it was processed, and not all documentation appeared to be fully completed, clearly explained, or itemized before moving forward. When I compared the documents I later received to the version I kept from my visit, there were differences, including added information that I do not recall being there at the time I signed. I raised these concerns directly, but the situation has not been resolved to my satisfaction. I've documented everything and am addressing it through the appropriate channels. This was the worst dental experience I have ever had. We had to change dentist due to an insurance change. I went in for a regular cleaning after they sent me three reminders of my appointment. I get there and they tell me that their hygienist called out and they will only do an exam and I have to come back for the cleaning. So the cleaning took 2 appointments and time away from work. They said I needed to have my crown replaced and that took three appointments total to get things somewhat right. They are not though. The dentist is incredibly rude and direct to her staff and patients. There were some very awkward moments between her and her staff. The staff is very poor. Hygienist cut my mouth and lips up doing basic work. I will not return! read more

Okay, this review is a bit difficult to give because overall I think Dr Hanna might be a decent dentist and I sincerely wanted to give her a shot. She certainly has a way with people because I was furious while at the office and she came in and calmed me down straight away. She's really very good and even though I knew she was feeding me a line of bull. I respected her for making the effort and playing the game. But as with many of the other reviews, this office is truly "all about the money" and overall patient care, as Dr. Hanna would have you to believe, is secondary at best. The office staff might be amazing to some, but they are not the sharpest tools in the toolbox...if you get my drift. I called and made an appointment and told them I was trying to use whatever benefit I had available for 2023. That my insurance was changing come January 1st, and that I needed and wanted 2-implants. That I was fully aware there would be out of pocket cost, but I wanted to use what benefit I had for 2023, therefore I needed the work to begin right away - this was in October. I could not have made it any clearer to everyone - but it's obvious they have their own agenda and because of that agenda, they screwed me and themselves out of another $1900 of benefit in the process. I'll mention here that I paid out of pocket for x-rays and cleaning of $347 as well as they billed my insurance $500 of which $415 was also paid to them. I find this very interesting, since I haven't heard a word from them since. I would also like to mention that I completed all the paperwork online to save time - my time is also worth money Dr Hanna. But when I got to the office, they made me complete all the exact same paperwork over again in person - that was the first thing that upset me. Then they had someone come in that began to verbally ask me all the exact same questions, that was strike 2. But I was on a mission, so I answered the questions and let the girl do the x-rays. Then the dental hygienist came in, she never spoke to me and didn't even introduce herself, rather went about doing her exam. At the end she told me I needed a periodontal cleaning, which I just had the year prior. I told her "I would not be having that procedure" and that is when all hell broke loose. This for me was strike number 3 and now I was pissed. That's when Hanna came in and told me the health of my teeth was the most important thing to her. I told her the same thing, "I would not be having that procedure" but I was happy to have them do a cleaning and all x-rays needed for the implants. Again, that being my goal and what I kept communicating to everyone. They had someone from the front desk come back and verbally tell me it would be $347 for the x-rays and cleaning - I agreed to pay. However, nothing was ever provided in writing and when I asked for a detailed invoice when leaving, they told it would be emailed to me - that never happened. As stated earlier, its obvious they have their own agenda (little regard for patient request) and my insurance paid another $415, for the same services I paid for out of pocket. That being said, I am still looking for the treatment plan you promised Dr Hanna. As well as reimbursement for double payment you received. If you don't want my business, not a problem. I'm happy to take all my paid x-rays and go elsewhere, since you certainly don't cater to working professionals or accommodate individuals that might need "after work" or weekend appointments. Regardless, I have left several messages and your office has my cell and my email address, so I look forward to getting a return response from someone. read more

Where do I begin... this amazing all woman crew is ahhhhhhhmazing! It doesn't matter who I talk to I the office everyone treats me with respect and with an uplifting disposition. I had a tooth extraction and was told my insurance would not cover any of the bill,which I thought was strange.So i paid the $1300 dollar bill,then I called my insurance company 2 days later and they said they paid $517 dollars on the procedure.I called the dentist and they said that was my estimated part of the bill?If they said i was paying the bill because of no coverage why did they submit a claim to my insurance for another $1000? It sounds kind of strange to submit a bill to insurance that THEY said was covering any of my bill??When i have been to any other dentist they know what amount insurance covers! read more

Really sweet staff but they don't even try to portray any care for their patients and they will rob you blind if you let them. Can't express how disappointed I left after a few appointments. I genuinely wanted to love it! I also never received my retainer from their office nor did they call to let me know it was ready. But they charged me for it! I highly recommend this office! I was having pain, on and off, for several weeks. Due to Covid and not being a fan of dentists, I tried to wait it out. That didn't work out so well and I woke up one day in severe pain. I found a random ad on Facebook for Smiles By Hanna. I am high risk and liked that they advertised several measures they were taking to keep everyone safe. I was able to make an emergency appointment for the same day. When calling, I informed them that I get anxiety in general and, even more so under these conditions. Amber assured me I would be in good hands. When arriving, was taken back to a room within a minute or so of arriving. Amber made sure I was all set. Next came Desiree, the dental assistant, who was super nice. Told me exactly what she'd be doing. I commented on the music coming from the lobby, saying how it's calming. A few minutes later, I realize that she turned the music up in the room I was in. I felt that, by her doing that, it showed she truly cared about my experience! In came Dr. Hanna. She was sweet and also explained everything in detail. Unfortunately, I needed to go to an oral surgeon for that situation but knew that I'd return for additional services I'd need. I'm back for my second visit now. As before, everyone has been great! I met 3 more staff members: Kellie, Katie and Mari. Again, highly recommend this office!! read more

The dentist also included unnecessary cosmetic procedures on my treatment plan that she never even discussed with me. I recently had a tooth extraction at smiles by Hannah. I haven't been to the dentist in some time and I have been experiencing pain for months. I had a broken tooth as well as I missing filling. On the first visit I let them know that I am nervous at the dentist as most are and from that moment on they were always conscious of my anxiety and pain level. Always asking if I was doing OK and adjusting if they needed to. During the extraction my roots were rather long and the extraction was quite intense the staff made sure I felt no pain at any time. Constantly checking in on me during my procedure and making sure I was as comfortable and anxiety free and pain-free. That was the most important aspect for me as far as finding a dentist; comfort and care. I felt cared for and safe here I am a few days postop and I have no pain I definitely left better than I went in. I would recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

I received a pretty hefty quote, and ended up paying for extras at the initial checkup. Got a second and third opinion later on, after needing emergency dental work from an accident. I left this office feeling deflated and ripped off. First, I was asked by each person I interacted with how I'd heard about them. Which should've been my first tip off. My insurance covers a cleaning and x-rays. I went to my dentist religiously every 6 months in Iowa, until we moved here in September. So I missed my end of year appointment. Following the x-rays and gum depth test I was told I had "periodontal disease" and throughout the rest of the visit told because of my "diagnosis" that I needed a deep cleaning. They kept emphasizing how I hadn't been to a dentist in a year....which isn't quite accurate. But annoying. And that I needed to take care of the periodontal disease ASAP. When I asked about the cost, they said they would run an estimate. When I told them I couldn't do that today they were ready to end my appointment. When I asked about receiving the cleaning covered by insurance. According to the staff the cleaning covered by insurance is "just a polish" and won't do anything for my build up. If they had to manually scrape it, it would take a lot of time and effort." So, I agreed to their next level of cleaning (which would cost me out of pocket) and told multiple times it would be just ok but that I most definitely needed a deep clean. As I was being flossed the hygienist commented on my bottom teeth and asked if I would consider braces that they could do that too. I had JUST come in for a cleaning and annual check up! When I went to pay I mentioned the offer I had from Instagram (which I had mentioned when I called to make my appointment at the end of February). I was told it wasn't valid because a cleaning wasn't a "treatment". But it could be applied when I came back for the treatment plan....which is a deep cleaning. I continually felt like I was trying to be sold something. I felt they didn't present me with all of the options and really advocated for the most expensive route. And, that they didn't tell me that my offer wouldn't be valid when I scheduled my appointment was a waste of my time. I will be looking for another dentist. read more

Maria cleaned my grill up all nice & fresh & was constantly checking with me to make sure I wasn't in pain & that I was doing alright. When I first visited Smiles by Hanna, it had been my first visit to the dentist since having any adult teeth. Needless to say, I was terrified. Dr Hanna told me I had 1 cavity, but upon looking back and forth at the hygienist, the number went all the way up to 8. They then told me that the only reason I still had teeth was because I'm young. When all was said and done, they quoted me $11000 worth of work I needed done. Seven fillings, 1 overlay, laser whitening, a night guard, and all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed because "you don't need them, why keep them?" Upon coming home to my husband with this hefty bill, we talked about it and decided to get a second opinion. If I needed the work done, fine, we'd figure it out, but it sounded like they were fishing for money. I ended up going to my husband's highly rated dentist about a month later, where the prognosis was completely different. I only needed 3 fillings, and they weren't nearly as severe as Smiles by Hanna had made it seem. They said my teeth and gums were super healthy, and while I did need my wisdom teeth out, it was because they were impacted. I was blinded by the purple office and my underlying fear of the dentist, but now I've seen the light; don't go here unless it's for a specific procedure that they offer (such as their water laser). read more

Because I did not know the rules about how to use my FSA card I had put $500 through my job in order to get my teeth whitened. After getting the $500 on my card after the 1st of the year I researched the circumstances of getting teeth whitened and I found out that whitening is not a procedure that can be done and use your FSA card for payment. Somewhere around the first day of February I received a card in the mail from Hanna's office offering $79.99 a teeth whitening kit as long as I come back in every 6 months for a cleaning. I thought this was a great deal at the time. I made an appointment for the next week and when I went in I explained the issue that I had with the FSA card and teeth whitening not being eligible for use with the FSA card. The dentist (Hanna) told me "well, it's all how it appears on your bill to the insurance company". This immediately put me on guard because this would be lying to the insurance company and to the IRS by using the FSA card for something that is not eligible. Right away her and her staff told me that they needed to do X-ray's and the teeth cleaning to get things started. I wasn't surprised at this point because I knew that my insurance would cover these procedures at 100%. They did the X-rays and the teeth cleaning and told me that I needed extra work before I could do the teeth cleaning for $79.99. She said to make an appointment for the next week to come back in and go over what the dentist wanted to do to get me fixed up. I came back in the next week and sat back down in the chair and was ready to hear what I was going to have to pay. What she told me was way beyond what I thought she was going to say. She started to go over everything that she thought that I needed. I kept asking her to stop and give me the bottom line. She told me that I would have to pay over $5800 out of pocket in addition to what my insurance would cover. Then I would be eligible to get the $79.99 teeth whitening treatment. I do have 1 tooth that is chipped in the upper right and I asked if that can be taken care of for now then we can work on the rest later. She said "no we do everything all at once because I care about your health". At this point I felt like she cared way more about my wallet that my health. Completely a ploy to get anyone into the office and sell as many services as possible. NO THANKS I also found it very odd that the other 2 people that have reviewed this dentist on YELP only have 1 review each and both have said they have been going to her for up to 9 years. Thank you Universe for Dr. Hanna! I was in need of Tori removal. I researched many dentists and oral surgeons to find the best procedure. The traditional method is chiseling off the bone. I was looking for something less archaic. I found Dr. Hanna's website which showed that she uses a water laser procedure. I researched this process and was satisfied to find exactly what I was looking for. I called immediately and made an appointment. I drove from Los Angeles to Gilbert AZ to meet Dr. Hanna and her staff for the initial consultation. I was satisfied with everything, including the cost. We made our arrangements to return for the actual Tori removal. The procedure itself was great. I requested anesthesia. I met the anesthesiologist's assistant, but don't remember meeting the anesthesiologist himself, whom I will also give a great review separately. When I awoke from my procedure, I was already stitched up and ready to go. I was escorted to my car and my husband was given all the follow up instructions. I took a 2 hour nap and felt great. I couldn't talk much, but I was able to get on with my day. Of course, soft food only, but I was amazed at how quickly I bounced back. My follow up appointment to have the stitches removed was 2 weeks later. I would highly recommend Dr. Hanna and her team. Giselle, Kelly, and everyone in the office are so nice and helpful. In fact, I am considering making Dr. Hanna my permanent dentist for any treatments outside of a cleaning. Dr. Hanna has a beautiful Soul and a talent for dentistry. read more
