I am a senior citizen with no dental insurance an was told I would need an implant that cost $4500.00 hundred dollars . I said I would think it over and left the office but nut before being charged $ 100.00 dollars for her opinion . Very rude never going back ! Came in paid upfront had a cracked bridge. Was sent home w/out antibiotics , only to return in a week sick from infection. Only to be scolded and rudely lectured about having not taken my prescription that was never prescribed all while my mouth is wide open as she jabbed at my gums with needles. @one point The very pleasant assistant whom was obviously aware of how my appt was going whispered, "are you okay? " I just Wanted people to know the inhuman way I was treated .. very cold ,rude ,and absolutely my worst nightmare . I post this not for retaliation for how I was treated but so others don't experience the nightmare I did. I want to say sorry to the assistant I don't want you to get in trouble for being human . And caring. Confirming my feelings were valid and this lady was crazy! I left in tears!!! Wouldn't go back to save my life! Watch out for this dental practrice, Smiles by Hanna, in Gilbert. My son had two fillings done and it cost me $301! They charged for a ridiculously expensive analgesia $107, not covered by the insurance. They also charged a $50 fee for "Application of desensitize" on top of that! How much "special" analgesia do you need for two simple fillings?? I have never been charged these ridiculous charges at a dental practice. They also make you pay ahead of time (the day of the diagnosis v. day of procedure). Please review your charges and question them before you pay! I would give zero stars because I feel defrauded! read more

By far the best visit to a dentist I've had in awhile. Giselle in the front office was polite and professional. Check in, being a new patient, was smooth and fast! At check out, I had a couple insurance questions she quickly answered. Crystal was my hygeinest, and I have to say that besides being easy on the eyes, she was easy on my gums too! Not even a wince of pain! She explained every step of the cleaning along the way. Dr. Hanna's explanation of her exam and possible treatment plans were spot on! Scams By Hanna is a more appropriate name. I rarely, if ever, write reviews but I just left so disgusted by the upselling going on that I felt compelled to write. Before I started writing today, I read the other reviews and found this is common practice. I was sucked in by a $79 complete exam and whitening for life. I am new to the neighborhood, it had been 8 months since my last cleaning, and I wanted a whitening treatment, so I figured I would give them a try. On the first visit I was upsold an oral cancer screen because of a discoloration on my cheek. I do not smoke/chew and recently bit my cheek hard so figured it was just that but I was told this was what oral cancer could look like. Out of fear and for peace of mind I agreed to a $50 screening. The screening of course came back negative. I was then told I needed a crown on one tooth. I was quoted two prices - one if I do some "plan" with their office. The prices were between $1500-2000. 8 months earlier there was no mention of the need of a crown from my last (regular) dentist so I passed on the crown. They then scheduled me to come back to check on the spot on my cheek and to get the whitening trays. However... At this point "Dr." Hanna said I needed the crown, the cavity filled, and then she tried to sell me on Invisalign ($5K). I told her I felt like I was at a used car dealer trying to sell me add-ons I don't really need and that I was declining all of those supposed needs. I just came back for the whitening tray. I was told I could not have the whitening trays until I had all the other work done. Suffice it to say, that ended my stay at the used car emporium masquerading as a dentist office and prompted this review. On the bright side, the Dental Hygentists the first time I was there (Sorry but I do not remember their names), and the front desk girl Sara, were very nice. Hopefully they will find gainful employment elsewhere soon. read more

I have been going to Dr Hanna for 4 years. My teeth and mouth are in the best shape they have been in for many years. Dr. Hanna targets a perfect mouth and takes a lot of pride in her work. Update: After I wrote my previous review, Dr. Hanna contacted me and left a message, asking me to call her back so that she can rectify the situation. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with a company trying to make things right. However, when Dr. Hanna and I got on the phone to talk, she proceeded to tell me about how insurance companies are only in it for the money and how I should have asked her office the right questions about my treatment. I told her that my issue was not about what the insurance paid (as they had paid what they should have paid), but it was about the incorrect information that I received before agreeing to treatment. I told her I could have asked the same questions about my treatment several different ways and it wouldn't matter - I would get the same incorrect response anyway since her front office employee, who is assigned to explain treatment to all patients, didn't know that she was giving me false information. She told me that she doesn't expect her front office employees to understand dental treatment as they are not dental professionals. This is definitely understandable, but I asked her why she would allow her front office staff to be the ones to explain treatment to patients and have them sign the agreement form if this was the case. She ignored my response and asked me what I wanted to happen to make this issue resolved. I told her that I would like a refund for the "Desensitizing Med" service that I was incorrectly explained about. She (very rudely - in my opinion) told me that she would give me the refund ONLY if I removed my review. I directly asked her if she was bribing me, and she said yes-since she is not obligated to provide me a refund in the first place. I told her to keep my money, as I felt as though removing an honest review for money was immoral. I told her that I was going to write an updated review about our conversation. Before I could finish my sentence, she hung up on me. I was actually going to post this update on my FB review of this practice, but after I got off the phone with them, they disabled my ability to add or update my FB review. It's actually a violation of Yelp's Terms of Service for a business to offer someone a refund in exchange for removing a review. I hope that my actions will save someone from this, in my opinion, office's poor etiquette and business practice. Now I know to pay attention to patterns in negative reviews. Word of advice for Yelpers out there: please write honest reviews and stand by them - the feedback system is useless and won't help anyone if it's not used correctly. *Note - I'm not sure what her comment to this review is referring to. My insurance never told me her "Desensitizing Med" service was necessary. They actually told me your employee wasn't even unable to explain that treatment to them when they called your practice on my behalf. read more

I posted a bad review. I did not personally insult anyone at this office, I was not nasty with my words or anything close to that. I simply said exactly that happened at our visit here. Most companies would just apologize on their behalf for the awful experience. This company did not do that, this company instead has decided to email me a letter of intent to sue if I do not remove my bad review. THIS IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH. Companies get bad reviews sometimes, it happens. After I just spent some time reading the other bad reviews on DR.Hanna, I realized I am not the only one who has had an awful somewhat the same experience we had. Here are a few highlighted comments from other reviews I can relate to. See pictures attached. I am also attaching the email I received from DR.Hanna's team. Her and her team think it is okay to also let me know child services should be called on me. Why? Because my kid is a kid and maybe has too many sweets sometimes and got a cavity? I spend a week after finding out she had this bad cavity trying to find a good dentist to pull her tooth for her and get her out of pain. So, no I did not neglect my child's issue. She now is well and has had the tooth extracted by a awesome dentist. What company threatens to sue over a simple bad review? Not only that but also brings up child services? I am so shocked and I am very very irate about this. I will not be removing my review. Not to mention, I called them after this threatening email, they never told me my daughter also had an infection, never. I had to take her days after this apt to then find out she recently got an infection. I believe from visiting here. Anyways, I also asked them... if she had an infection then why were not prescribed any antibiotics? They were not able to comment or answer me. I was cleaning out past medical & Dental bills and came across Some dental deep cleaning bills from Smiles by Hanna and decided to check on Yelp. There are 2 reviews that described the high pressure sales of deep cleaning and other works. I experienced the same high pressure sales.... telling me I have periodontal disease and the deep cleaning treatment I needed. I was surprised because I have relatively excellent teeth and never a dentist told me the problems Dr Hanna was telling me. Anyway, I got pressured into a deep cleaning treatment and paid $600-700 out of pocket, and turned down a few other procedures. Truth is my teeth condition does not feel any better with the deep cleaning. Since then, I went to another dentist and have regular cleaning, and everything is fine. read more
