I wanted to make a point to share about my last visit a couple days ago to illustrate just how great these people are. Monday night I broke a tooth eating dinner. We had expected that I might have a cracked tooth that was bothering me on occasion, but could never identify which tooth while in the dentist office. I Googled Spring St. to see what time they opened in the morning so that I could call and get an appointment. To my surprise, Google had an option to send the business a message AND it said that the business typically responds within an hour. So I thought, "let's try this" and sent a message. Shortly thereafter I got a message from Dr. Romney saying they would call me in the morning to set up an appointment. They opened at 7am Tuesday morning. I noticed on the clock it was 7am and before I had a chance to give them a call, they called me. :) They were able to get me in a 1:30pm that day. Mona is my favorite. She always has a smile on her face which is so nice to see when you walk in the door. Dr. Lassen was able to save my broken tooth and put a crown on it that same day. I was so grateful to the whole team for taking care of and so quickly. I highly recommend Spring St. to whoever is willing to listen.

Over the course of my treatment, Dr. Ravi and his incredible team restored my smile with 18 crowns and 2 bridges. That's a huge amount of dental work, and I can honestly say it has been the best dental experience of my life. The crowns came back SO FAST and the temporaries looked and felt great. I scheduled an appointment over a month ago, and the pain in my mouth has exponentially increased. I arrived at my scheduled time; I had already completed all pre-appointment paperwork. They asked for me for my insurance card, I immediately began to search for it on my portal. The Wi-Fi I "borrowed" was slow; (she wouldn't give me theirs) it was taking a little bit. I asked if I could be processed/allowed back as private pay, (I was in pain and had waited a month) giving me more time to continue to upload while in the dentist chair. They said I would have to pay then, and no refund would be considered once insurance verified. They had to prove insurance before they could allow me back. I showed them the phone with my active id card download buffering. I was then told it had taken too long, and I would need to reschedule for an appointment over a week later. When advancing this with the "office manager" she proceeded to tell me I knew about the appointment, and knew I would have to have it, and I should have called them ahead of time to make sure they had what they needed from me. They allegedly called me yesterday and today and left a VM, (no evidence on call log/VM) I asked again if they would please reconsider and allow me to see the dentist and get the card, or I would self-pay without question. She informed me, " she would not go back and forth with me". Ok good. I took my business down to Aspen Dental, where I was treated with some dignity and respect, they allowed me to show my digital card and saw me within an hour. I wouldn't take my dog/cat here if they were on their last leg. The animals would die in their lobby while finding the insurance card.

From my understanding, a provider may still send a bill and request payment, but they cannot sue to collect the debt if the four-year period has passed. That's what I'm learning so far, I could be wrong. I want to share my experience so others can be informed. When I spoke with the manager, she told me that "dental" is not "medical," which I found surprising. She also provided statements--not itemized bills--showing changes over time as my insurance continued making payments, even though I asked for proof of prior billing or contact. I was trying to understand why I wasn't notified sooner, as timely coding adjustments, FSA, or other insurance remedies could have been available. She insisted they had sent bills, yet the documents she provided were statements that reflected ongoing insurance payments. This left me confused, especially when she attributed the billing process to a third party--something that doesn't change my concerns as a patient. Additionally, she emailed screenshots of my account, which helped me see what had been happening. I now plan to review everything carefully to determine what is owed and whether it was appropriate for them to reach out in 2025, long after I lost access to the insurance benefits that could have been used in 2020 to address any issues. just as an fyi: 1 - complaints with the Texas Attorney General (https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/consumer-protection) and the CFPB (https://www.consumerfinance.gov/). 2 - if the statute of limitations applies, then for collections, you can dispute it with the credit bureaus, citing the expired statute of limitations. I'm not sure that's the case with mine, but I know I didn't receive accurate information on the calls I had today, so I'll need to do my own research.
